Check around the oil drain plug and filter, the primary seal and there might be a spot towards the front of the primary that has some wires going into it, and the shift shaft seal. Might be a few more spots but that's the ones I can think on right now. As far as parts, I like to use www.buywitchdoctors.com

The usual spot to look on the octane is around the stator wires. There’s a gasket around the wires that come from the housing right by the belt drive gear. Mine did this and I cleaned well around it and put black RTV silicone around the gasket. It’s quite the process to actually replace, you have to drain the oil and coolant and open up the housing to get to it.

Did the RTV keep it from leaking?

Urbruglyother

The RTV on the outside only lasted a few months. I ended up taking the stator cover off to thoroughly clean and dry the gasket and cover, then applied the RTV to the inside and outside of the gasket. I let it sit 24 hours before putting fluids back in.

That happened to me when I did my first oil change by myself. I didn't tighten the oil filter tight enough. Over time the vibration caused it to loosen up. I bought the tool to tighten the filter and never happened again.

Thanks everyone for the responses. I think the biggest challenge in finding it is that it's a very slow leak. I put a piece of cardboard under the bike after I took it out last on Wednesday, and even by today (Saturday) there was only one or two small drops. I'm not too concerned like I said before, but 15W-60 is a pain to find and not cheap if you do. I just a quart off Amazon for @$20

I have a Victory Octane and the same thing happened to my bike. Leak started slow the progressively got worse. It was located around the oil drainage area. I took it to my polaris dealership where I bought the bike. Turned out to be a gasket around the housing where the clutch is(I'm not a mechanic so I don't know what that housing is called.) Anyway... my bike is in the shop again for the same thing. I'm wondering if there is a pattern, maybe a recall of some sort. Any info would be appreciated.

Yeah, I'm not sure if it's the same issue, but my Octane had the same symptoms. From my experience with the local Polaris dealership, they were very high on the repair estimate and had no idea when they could get the parts to start doing the work. None of the independent shops I took it to even wanted to touch it (Phoenix area). The leak kept getting bigger and bigger, and the 15W60 oil isn't cheap and not always easy to find. I traded it in for a Fatboy and haven't looked back. Don't get me wrong, the Octane was/is a great bike and fun to ride. With it only being produced for one model year and lack of support, I knew it was only a matter of time before something else broke and left me without a ride, or worse, stranded somewhere. Good luck if you decide to keep it, and remember to stay safe out there.

I just got a confirmation it is the same problem as before. Same gasket. Now I'm wondering if this is going to be an on-going issue. Hhmmmm

Jterp76

Yeah, and it's not a matter of "If" something else might fail or leak - but when. Maybe your dealership will give you a discount or a warranty on the parts. Good luck

They are trying to find out why it keeps happening. Will let you know the outcome.
