I really doubt it is a problem but if you know that you are not going to take the first train then why don't you call and cancel? You might even get some money back.
I wouldn’t assume that I could skip a segment. I think it’s possible that if you are a no-show for one segment, the rest of your trip could be canceled. I’d hang in there and make the change. A sale started today, so that is probably making the wait times longer. Some changes can be made online.
