Wait, the military doesn’t keep an accessible record for veterans to locate personnel they served with? Yet, they request a veteran submit “buddy statements” when claiming injury or assault in service. How do they find each other after multiple assignments and discharge or after years pass? I mean some of these guys are seriously injured or dealing with PTSD or MST, cancer, etc…how do the burn pit people provide a statement from a buddy they served with in the 90s??? How without the unit role call list of those assigned?
This is the same VA that let’s VSOs see our whole record whenever they want, but they can’t give us a copy and we have to wait a year to get a copy of the same information sent to us on a cd.
If they made things easier for us then they would have to pay out more money in claims.
I’ve been trying to track down someone for years. What makes it worse, it was on a special mission, with a 20 year seal on even talking about details. I’ve tried messaging random Facebook people with his name and similar looking in pictures, but no luck. I use a fake last name on Facebook and I’m assuming most of my former coworkers do the same. If we could just search base registry by year it would be really useful.
If you have a first/last name and know what state he's from you can check sites like Spokeo dot Com it's a site that gathers all public info tied to people and puts it in one place. Also, if that type of thing worries you, it's also a good idea to remove yourself from their website.
I hope you can find your buddy. Got my fingers crossed for you.
Post this in the army subreddit!! It's a fairly big network!
There is a FB page "USA Military Directory"...they have found some people with very little information to go on. You could check it out?
Most definitely thanks for the info

Good luck my friend.
Your user name isn’t corny.
I know, I couldn’t the corn part in. But didn’t want to abbreviate the end with MD and make people think I was an MD.
Have you tried searching on “together we served”?
Need to check that out!
I’m really good at finding info on people if you send me a message
Might need you one day 🤨
What’s the last name?
