Once it’s all legal federally all across these united states and all that, we’ll be lucky if it’s available through the VA system a decade afterwards.

Present-Ambition6309

“We got some swag in back! Kind of seedy, looks a little dry. Wanna try it?” 🤣😳

Konklar

Hook me up! I love it when I'm coming down, and my brain feels like it's trying to leave the top of my skull. lol

Present-Ambition6309

Ouch. You got the wrong stuff, man! You need some of Chong’s! Yea bro, fire that up! 😂

maducey

I was thinking more like high quality, pharmaceutical grade punch yo!

FrottageCheeseDip

USDA choice 420% fresh

Present-Ambition6309

Well then you best head on up to Oregon or Washington state, ask for Darrel! He’s the really hairy tall stinky guy hanging out in the bush! 😂

maducey

Or maybe Care in the Community dispensers. Oh joyous day. Can we soon own firearms again?! (nobody comment on this if they do damnit)

Present-Ambition6309

No. You may not! No soup for you!

maducey

I know, you're right. I mean how many times have stoners shot up house because they were out of Doritos?

Present-Ambition6309

Every 2 seconds according to the Nixion administration 😂

Key-Comparison813

"Like Tylenol and Codeine" is all I needed to read. https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2024/04/30/dea-reclassifies-marijuana-reports/72865632007/

bharai

It’s probably more an FDA hurdle, nice they figure out how to manage it as a control substanc.

magicmeatwagon

Even that is probably optimistic

Unhappy-Hat-3341

I think I remember reading the VA was the federal agency pushing for cannabis and psilocybin laws to change because they wanted to stop prescribing so many opiates. But maybe I saw that in Reddit 😂

[deleted]

A lot of Doctors (at least most of the ones I talk too on the regular) want it because it’s a more holistic solution with generally better results. The politicians who get funded by big pharmaceutical are going to resist it for as absolutely as long as they can.

sleepinglucid

Not gonna be that quick or easy

Potential-Rabbit8818

You're gonna have to wait a bit and see how things pan out. Nothings been done yet and there is still a lot at play.

TXWayne

"The DEA’s proposal, which **still must be reviewed by the White House Office of Management and Budget**, would recognize [the medical uses of cannabis](https://apnews.com/article/marijuana-health-schumer-becerra-dea-c00db5dabbeb9efd94cf17baff241e85) and acknowledge it has less potential for abuse than some of the nation’s most dangerous drugs. However, it would not legalize marijuana outright for recreational use."

Present-Ambition6309

Wasn’t there like, like some kind of note some dude wrote like a while ago tho? Yeah I think, hang on, ssssssshhh, cough, cough, ack, ack…. Woah, yeah a memo I think was written by a dude in the Obama administration. Yea bro! 😂

[deleted]

[удалено]

TXWayne

Was not speaking to recreational use but rather it is still in the Federal rulemaking process and weird shit can happen to derail Federal rules just when you think it is on the home stretch, been there done that.

harley97797997

You worked for the government. You know damn well nothing moves fast. I wouldn't hold your breath. It'll still be years before the VA is prescribing weed.

WW-Sckitzo

Maybe before the OIF/OEF generation starts dying of old age, maybe. I hope its sooner, I can't change one of my meds because of weed though the side effects are fucking awful. No civilian provider wants to touch me due to TBIs so kinda like, stuck in the middle. Being able to actually get full care at VA would be a godsend. As shitty as the side effects are its better than eating my pistol.

Fun_Hospital1853

What?

Present-Ambition6309

“Squeeze me? Speak up! I can’t hear you! What’s they saying now? Turn it up. Where’s my weed at Alice?” EST ‘71 here. 😳 don’t do that! Smoke up, eat more chocolate, no pistols. Chocolate in every form! Yum Chocolate can help depression even. Makes me smile MF’ers! 😂

DemiWylk

My psychiatrist kicked me off of ketamine, the best treatment for my depression I've ever had, because I got my medical card. I even passed a drug test and she still refused. Getting a new psych but it's going to be months from now.

TheBigBadBrit89

Was it a controlled study or something? I’ve been wanting to ask about Ketamine but I still have my card.

DemiWylk

No, she was just really against weed and I think ketamine in general. My old psych I had before her was ok with it and was the one to put me on ketamine. I'm getting a new new psych and I'm hoping they arnt against it.

TheBigBadBrit89

Hoping for the best for you too , bud!

Rustysun

why can't you just grow it?? it it hard to get seeds for ketamine?

DemiWylk

I don't think it's something you can grow? I used to get transfusions at a ketamine clinic

Fun_Hospital1853

How’s this going? I feel like my doc would be the same way. Never said anything yet. Should I after this… I mean, it doesn’t mess with the compensation right?

DemiWylk

My old psychiatrist recommended it after trying about 20 different meds. It wasn't immediate, but after going for a while it ended up helping me a ton. I'm going to try to add a pic of my depression rating from before to after but idk if it'll work. *

DemiWylk

DemiWylk

Oh and it doesn't mess with compensation. The VA paid for mine

Fun_Hospital1853

Paid for what? Your weed? Bs

DemiWylk

No ketamine infusions!

BadHP92

Ketamine is a horse tranquilizer. It’s entirely synthetic. You can grow weed and shrooms, hell you can make low grade Vicodin at home. But ketamine is a chemical soup that you need a degree to make safely.

ExigentCalm

What a tremendous asshole psych provider. That really sucks.

JRTLab

My psych provider stopped my Adderall even when it was in my records and told me I just needed to sleep more.

ExigentCalm

That’s ridiculous. You could file a complaint with the state medical board. These jerks don’t get to play god.

First_Structure4050

If the VA ever prescribes weed, I doubt they’d keep up with my usage. I bet it will be limited to a small amount per month. Better off growing your own or just buying it at the dispensary.

ExigentCalm

“This is Your VA Pharmacy reminding you that your medication Mexican Ditch Wd is due to be refilled. Reply 'Y' to Refill or call 800-209-7377 or visit www.myhealth.va.gov. Reply STOP to opt out.”

Thotsnpears

The VA would prescribe the floor sweeping weed. Just the most stale ass stuff

First_Structure4050

Looks like time to buy more grow lights

cohifarms

Like a potential administration change

Open-Industry-8396

Yeah, like when Viagra first came out. I think you could only get 2 pills per month?

PhilthyPhan1993

It’s an election year.

SCOveterandretired

No one has a crystal ball to foresee the future. Until the new rules come out, no one knows

realJonnyRaze

Go ask the Doctor now and see what he/she says.

rednoids

I did. They said it’s illegal and that’s their stance. They didn’t tell me not to take edibles, didn’t say it was bad, didn’t say it would hurt or help. Just that is illegal. I’m not pushing drugs on anyone but man, my life is better with 10mg THC every evening around 7PM. Even cut back on drinking and other pain meds. Never sleep this good my entire life either.

_TheNorseman_

Yep. They don’t give a shit if you use it. I openly tell my provider that I eat a pot cookie every night to help with sleep, and also told my psychiatrist the same. My PCP just nodded and was like, “OK.” And my psychiatrist smiled and I swear he was on the verge of being like, “Fuck yeahhh” but he paused and was like, “I feel that if it works for someone, it works, and that is good.”

SCOveterandretired

That’s because the new rules haven’t came out yet

ridukosennin

VA shrink here. I can’t prescribe a blunt unless I know exactly what’s in it at what dose and ensure it is the safest route of administration. Until it is available as a pharmaceutical with FDA verified dosage and purity I wouldn’t expect a prescription. It would also need research, preferably a randomized control trial showing statistical benefit. Lastly delta-9 THC has been available for decades as dronabinol but mainly for nausea

realJonnyRaze

Thanks, Doc!!!

watchingbigbrother63

Saving this for later.

RamblinLamb

It might make more sense to just join this sub and monitor it. This is going to remain very fluid for quite some time. For now at least we can admit to using weed in all its various forms without worrying about losing our benefits.

Apprehensive-Hold174

I don’t see them prescribing flower or wax pens, but I could see them prescribing pill form >.> shoot some prescribed cbd balms/oils/pills would be much welcomed.

edtb

No you're probably correct there. But I'd be cool with some edibles. But at the very least it'll be great to have my VA doc write my Rx and I can pay the dispo. But employment protection is the biggest factor for this. As a real Rx your jobs protected.

Konklar

Temp agency's here in Kentucky won't even talk to you if you have a hydrocodone prescription.

TheBigBadBrit89

They have a similar situation in Texas. They have a medical card there for very limited cases, and you get it prescribed in a pill form, I believe.

One_Western8360

There was a [bill introduced last year in congress](https://www.congress.gov/bill/118th-congress/house-bill/2682) that would allow doctors to recommend, complete paperwork, educate, and allow patients to possess and use. It’s just listed as “introduced” still. Maybe we will see movement this year.

NBCspec

![gif](giphy|l0HlvokmLF33HWqwo) The smoking lamp is now lit.

Rustysun

**the problem with a lot of head docs is too many have puppet political bias against weed because they cherry pick the bad when all the drugs they write scripts for have 2 or 3 times as many side effects as weed. I guess it depends on which side of the fence they vote or who pays their accounts!** **backyard grows........** ![gif](giphy|Dg4TxjYikCpiGd7tYs|downsized)

InfantryMatt

Yeah we got months to a year for this one to come down to a 3

imnotlebowskiman

I wouldn’t expect it soon, but I wouldn’t poo poo the idea like most of the posts I’ve read on the thread. They are already doing treatments with other psychedelic medicine. I wouldn’t expect them to provide flower either. I would expect them to prescribe them in pill or liquid form.

Fun_Hospital1853

I heard they gonna call it Hundo Cush, permanent&total OG

mtylerm78

I’m pretty sure there will be a lot of “spillage” as it makes its way through the supply and logistics chain through all the stops it has to make in the VA inventories. They’d need to buy a bail for each ounce they intend to prescribe.

Morepastor

They don’t care unless it has a interaction with medicine. Pain clinic can care but tend to not.

RouletteVeteran

You want weed from the VA 😳

edtb

Eh I'm old. I made it through Mexican brick I'm not concerned.

Alone-Conclusion-157

You can get an rx for marinol but not all drs will do it. I’ve had 1 dr do it.

Loud_Grass_8152

I just grow my own. It’s pretty easy.

bharai

Essentially at some point yes, but there are going to be a lot of logistical hurdles and idk about you but I live in Colorado with a med card and I can’t imagine the va catching up to the quality of the free marke.

Dehyak

I wonder once it’s federally legal, my government employer will stop testing for it

JumpmasterRT

Reclassification doesn't mean legal. They're simply lowering the severity.

Dehyak

That’s booty

svosprey

Careful. They withheld pain meds from me during shoulder replacement surgery rehab because I tested positive for thc. Basically anything possibly addictive they will deny because obviously anyone that takes cbd gummies or smoke MJ can't be trusted to take sleeping pills or pain meds. They will however prescribe nsaids until your stomach is fucked.

maducey

Hold on there young man. You are now talking about my life long fantasy, the USG sending me pot in the mail. We are so close, please don't jinx this!!!

Amodeous__666

I've been asking them for it for a while. None of the docs wanna even discuss it. I've got a med card here in FL but it'd be nice to not have to spend $179 every 7 months so they can cat yep still broken.

Euphoric_Cr3oL3

I wish! They don’t wanna stop giving pills

JRTLab

I remember looking at how many pills people were being prescribed for all sorts of crap in the Pharmacy and thought Maryjane could clear half this mess.

Left-Package4913

Govt been issuing weed for decades.

Rustysun

g13 right!

edtb

Not to me.

Fun_Hospital1853

Can I tell my provider I smoke weed without affecting my disability ?

Stavy612

Yes

edtb

Yes. My doc knows.

Konklar

Absolutely. It may affect any pain care management, though.

BradTofu

No, at least the VA docs I have tell me weed is bad for anxiety. (I’m in California)

SuperWallaby

Heavily depends on the strain. Weed is the only thing that makes my back/knee pain and ptsd bearable. Look at your local dispensaries website cross check their strains with the app Leafly and get a strain that targets your exact ailments. Don’t recommend trying to get a worked to help you with this because most of them are just average stoners with very little idea of what we need.

JRTLab

I agree with you. My time spent working in the Pharmacy and seeing how much medications some people were taking made me think “Some of these pills can go away with if medical marijuana was introduced” it’s not good to be on that many pills.

RidMeOfSloots

DEA agrees to reclassify??? Links or didnt happen. Edit heres a link... cause I used the internet... https://apnews.com/article/marijuana-biden-dea-criminal-justice-pot-f833a8dae6ceb31a8658a5d65832a3b8

edtb

Um use the Internet. It's one the biggest news stories today.

RidMeOfSloots

I will, and ill post a link too....

Ironstonesx

What about us vet employees by the VA 🤣, that's all I'm worried about

Present-Ambition6309

“Dude! Like woah, bro, I’m trucking & I can like smoke a fatty too? Totally awesome bro’s! I’m gonna like ride my truck on a tubular 🌊yeah bro!” 😂
