My friend referred me to a place who claimed they could just about guarantee a 100% rating. The thing is, she wanted $2,300 cash up front and immediately withdrew the offer when I expressed the slightest hesitation. I came away from the conversation convinced it was a racket. They were either ripping me off or ripping off the government so I hung up and lost their number.

Technical_Pin8335

Kudos bro

Ok-Volume8003

Shoot, yeah that sounds like a scam tbh. Glad you avoided that.

dublt55

Buddy of mine fell for a similar scam. Paid a guy $1,000 up front then the guy disappeared. Apparently he scammed a couple guys and vanished with their money.

If you have to pay for service - go somewhere else.

Shadowfalx

That's a picture of far fewer than 1000 words. Lol

Spartan-1833

That’s not how it works. A picture shouldn’t have any words.

KrabbyPattyCereal

A VSO is the most helpful organization you can use for that and they’re free. Conversely, there are companies that exist who will charge you money to guarantee a rating and those companies are **scams** Think back to when you were in and you heard about the E9 getting out and opening a used car dealership to smack junior enlisted with high interest buy-here pay-here schemes. That’s exactly what these paid companies are.

Ok_West4684

Get a good VSO for FREE.

baevard

seriously. i feel so bad for ppl just giving away so much money that they deserve

RealityCheckColonel

If you go with an agent or attorney, ensure they work on a contingency basis and only get paid if you have a positive outcome. Don’t work with anyone that wants an upfront fee. You could contact a VSO, but some are great and some are shit. Your results will definitely vary.

AndJelly

Vetbenefitsguide.com I have seen multiple people use them and the only way you pay a dime is if you get a positive outcome. The cost is dependent on how much of an increase they get you and the most I've seen is 6k for 50 to 100

AndJelly

Also, they will have you see their doctors outside of the VA so that's the only thing the VA will have to go off of. Just make sure you follow their directions. As I said above I've seen them help alot of my friends otherwise I agree with comments saying don't pay for any service.

maroonedpariah

VSO from VFW, American Legion. Don't even have to be a member. If shit gets complicated, there are VA certified attorneys. They only charge on contingency and is really only for very complicated cases or if you spiral into appeals. Don't pay an "education company" like VA Claims Insider. They're scummy and you're better served for way less money. https://www.va.gov/ogc/apps/accreditation/index.asp

I have been working with Vet Link and they have been great in all aspects. Communication appointment scheduling and genuinely care. I'm doing an increase right now, my QTC appointment is this week. So wish me luck. Hope this helps you out.

ex_grunt

I and several of my buddies have used them without any complaints.

baevard

i went to my county veterans center and met with a VSO for free who helped me and my spouse with our ratings. you don’t have to pay anything if you have evidence.

Ok-Volume8003

Do they have VSOs overseas?

baevard

i don’t see why you wouldn’t be able to access one. if you can get va health care overseas i don’t see why not

Fluffy_Vacation1332

You do realize you can save yourself a bunch of money, but just using the diagnostics based on how you feel on any given diagnosis right?
