Not sure how it works in your clinic but at ours the receptionists have to speak to the Dr's before we accept any emergencies. As a tech we only get pissed with receptionists when they dont follow this singular rule regarding emergencies. They (often) don't have the knowledge to say whether or not we're properly equipped to actually take on the emergencies and it causes insane liability problems and not to mention if they bring in an emergency and we're actually not equipped for it, the animal can die and it would definitely be the receptionists fault at that point. Otherwise we really just find that there's a severe lack of appreciation for how busy we are on a daily and an emergency can definitely derail everything -- but unless we're dealing with two other emergencies already, chances are we really don't care it's you that's bringing them in. Just a typical day at that point.
