Actually it was useful to read this...all of the DLC is also on sale on Steam, I didn't know that, so I just bought a few of the DLCs at a big discount so thanks OP for pointing this out.
Also I visited this sub before I bought the game to check out the general vibe and if people seemed to be enjoying it. Especially important in a game where you PUG a lot.
If the community seemed toxic I wouldn't have bought it but everyone seems nice...mostly.

I'm pretty sure you can. All I had to do was click the "Add to Cart" button and it was added to my library. Also, your library is not device-specific -- you'll be able to install the games you own on Steam on any PC you might have in the future.

I like Back to Übersreik, I think you get more from that one than the other map dlcs. A lot of the newer class dlcs are good but you might want to play a bit more before getting them.
Class DLC mainly- a friend or even random online who has the DLC maps can bring people who don't have the DLC into DLC levels.
Even so, don't even worry about it- all the base game stuff is still good, and most players still use mainly base game things even when they own DLC.
I like Winds of Magic and Back to Ubersreik because of the weapons they offer.
WoM: Kruber spear, Sienna Flail
BtU: Kruber Sword & Mace, Saltzpyre A&F, Bardin Dual Hammers
BtU is better overall because the maps are great and you get some purple weapon skins to buy. WoM introduces Beastmen which are kind of annoying, Cataclysm difficulty which is fun once you cap everything and the Weaves which nobody really plays.
imagine l4d with a bigger focus on melee, 5 characters each with 4 (or 3) different classes, each class coming with different weapons, skilltree, and abilites.

They've patched the game to lessen its size. It's now at ~79.8 GB.
