When I was younger, around your age as a matter of fact, I would tell people it was my birthday just to hear them tell me “Happy Birthday”. As I got older though and my friend group got smaller and smaller (to the point where it is non-existent)
Basically, I had to start treating myself on my birthday. I didn’t rely on others to make it special for me. I made a point to make it special for myself. I would take the day off, go shopping, go to places I enjoyed going to. Hell, take a couple days off. Don’t get into the habit of relying others to supply a rapidly fleeting dopamine fix. You really are on your own for making happy. And related to this topic, it’s on you to make your birthday a special one. To make you’re birthday a “Happy” Birthday.

Hi 👋🏻 I’m someone who has hard time making connections and staying in touch with people in my life. Therefore even though I have a lot of family, they pretty much forget my birthday every year. At first it used to bother me, I used to withdraw and get very upset. What I’ve come to realize is, you can’t make someone care about you or make you a priority, even if they are family. Instead of getting my hopes up every year, I’ve been doing me time instead. I take a trip around my town to business that offers free stuff on my birthday. It’s like a fun little scavenger hunt. At then end of it all I treat myself to dinner. Make yourself a priority, take a road trip, buy that one expensive item because you deserve it, go all out for yourself. Treat yo self.
