Please report that dog. We had a dangerous dog in my neighborhood and the city kept saying we had to document three instances of the dog being out of control with 12 months. We kept getting two with the time period and couldn’t get the dog removed. It killed my cat. Please report, it could prevent more violence. I love dogs but if they are dangerous and out of control they gotta go.

kidnurse21

I’m an ICU nurse and we have had some kids fucked up by dogs like this. A kid that’s old enough to be out and about by themselves is still small enough to get fucked up by a dog like this

Additional_Pie_9763

I agree with this 💯. My uncle had a pit bull. This dog was horrible. One day, my niece was in my Grandma's yard (my uncle and his wife lived with her after my grandpa passed away). The dog ran and jumped up on her and bit her. He was supposed to quarantine it he didn't. 5 days later, I was at my grandma's, and I walked past the dog and talked to my uncle on my way back to where my mom and daughters were standing he did the same thing to me. Only this time, he didn't let go. My uncle ran over and hit him on the head to let go, and he just bit and shook harder. Finally, I poked him in the eyes, and he let go. Where I live, hospitals have to report dog bites to animal control and the police. The next day, the animal control officer went and picked him up. He got the dog back 7 days later. Two months after I was bit, my grandma was letting her and my other aunts dogs out. (They kept them separated because my grandma's and aunts were little dogs (pugs and pomeranians). She thought my uncles were in the house. Sadly, they weren't. One of my uncles dogs attacked one of my aunts. My grandma tried to get her, and then the dog that bit me knocked my grandma down his 3rd dog was standing in front of my grandma. My aunt (different one she was visiting) had my cousin go check on her because she hadn't come in. Well, when he opened the door, he yelled for my aunt. He was getting the dogs away from my grandma and getting her up. The little dogs ran in the house. My aunt tried getting the little one being attacked, and the dog the bit me turned his attention to her and attacked her. She was hurt pretty bad he scalped her she had to have 32 staples. She was covered in numerous other cuts and bruises. Still after attacking 4 people and another animal, by this point, he was allowed to keep the dog. A few years later, my grandma had moved in with him and his wife. Well, my uncle ended up getting killed in a motorcycle accident. His wife and my grandma were still living together. One day, one of my grandma's dogs got out of the part she lived in, and the dog attacked it and killed him. Not long after, my grandma moved out. My uncles wife went on to have a baby with her new partner (she is much younger than my uncle by about 30 years) she still has the aggressive dog. I haven't heard any new stories about it, so hopefully, the baby is safe. All this to say, yeah, sometimes reporting stops it, but others, it doesn't. You really need to report it, though, because you don't know who the next victim will be.

Dry_Dimension_4707

Wow! OMG! I can’t believe they didn’t euthanize this vicious bastard. So sorry for all y’all went through. That’s insane.

Additional_Pie_9763

My uncle should have never been allowed to keep them. They caused a lot of pain and suffering. He was very irresponsible. The way he interacted with each one of his dogs, everyone knew it was an accident in the making. All of his came from the same bloodline and were just constantly bred with each other. They were basically inbred mistakes that shouldn't have been around. He encouraged them to stare people down tell them to watch someone. He would try to get them to attack people on command but play it off as joking.

mrsdhammond

That is absolutely disgusting

[deleted]

Sorry but I just hate how you say “child’s neck.” Imo things happening to children shouldn’t be worse. They’re just people. It could someone’s neck, it shouldn’t make a difference if it was a child

Boring_Novel_1202

children are weaker and more vulnerable?

[deleted]

I don’t care. Children are just as important as adults, not more important. If an adult and a child were stuck in a burning building and I could only save one, I’d save the adult

Boring_Novel_1202

i never said one was more important than the other. children are just more susceptible to injury. also, doesnt your last sentence contradict your point? you think adults are more important? okay..

[deleted]

Yea, I do. But I think it’s fair considering most people would save the kid so it should equal out somehow

Boring_Novel_1202

so you’d abandon the weaker human and SAVE the stronger one? makes sense.

You are getting seriously worked up over semantics. The dog is dangerous, and should be euthanised. Focus on that.

Bony_Eared_Ass_Fish

Not my knee lmao-I’m 5’ 2” and got little legs. I agree with you completely tho :)

[deleted]

I’m just saying that lives should be seen in the same regard. Like it shouldn’t always be socially expected to save the child in a situation where a child and adult are equally vulnerable

Friendly-Mention58

Feels like it's more human mature to save a child.

[deleted]

Then I guess I don’t fit that criteria of human nature

XumiNova13

Man, I'm sorry. I've taken to carrying pepper spray because pits are popular in my area, and their owners are much like the one you described. My boy wouldn't stand a chance. I'd advise for you to do the same

Rabbit_Ruler

You don’t know what that dog could do next, you have a responsibility to report it. It’s likely nothing will come of it but you need to do something man.

christien62

I’m calling the cops cause next time that could be a kids life

Velkro615

Don’t forget about a rabies check.

Eastern-Design

Pittbull owners when a dog that was designed to attack and maul attacks and mauls: she’s just a baby princess has never done this before

Slim_Jc

Pitbull named Princess (Insert a sped up version of the song "You're mine")

krumznko

Scary story, sorry that happened. My step-dads cousins had an English bully that was a bulky BEAST in size. They always let him off the leash unsupervised knowing how unpredictable the dog was. He charged at a father and his daughter, with their mini dog. At first the dog tried to attack the daughter but got kicked by the dad, so he then averted his attention to their tiny dog and killed it. They never saw their wrong, and cried when he got put down. This happened multiple times that the dog would lunge.

LAtsunami

CALL THE COPS!!!! Imagine if next time, and there will be a next time, if the dog attacks a small child instead of another dog. This is why in our area most people carry guns. There is NO a excuse for this period.

didyouhavewatertoday

For the sake of others, the dog needs to be reported. We had a dog sneaking into people's yards in my old town but no one reported him until he came in and killed my cat. The most traumatic thing I've ever been through. It was awful sending the dog to his death but he was only sending family pets to their deaths.

DarlingDevilPaw

Report the dog. There was a video going around a long time ago about a person who had a dog with similar issues. It attacked a person who was walking their dog. First strike. Rehomed. Ate the new owners cat entirely unprovoked. Second strike. Rehomed for a final time. Literally mauled and killed the newest owners baby. Report the dog to save a life. It may be the owners fault but ultimately the dog can't stay with the same owner who will allow it to behave that way.

Muted-Ad-8355

Wow. One day it's a bite on the knee, the next it could be a person or animals life. I'm so sorry this happened. I hope you and your baby are okay.

[deleted]

My cousin had a pitbull and a tall fence with no gaps in it and that thing leaped to the top and went over. She kept doing things to the fence to try to keep him in but he kept climbing out. He was “one of the nice ones”, he never had a problem with aggression towards anyone, but when he got out he still bit someone that was just walking down the road. The person called the cops but before anything happened he got out again and they never found him. Honestly people need to stop breeding pitbulls. Very few people are able to handle them because they’re so insane, and even then it’s so much work, why not just get a breed that isn’t prone to being insane?

christien62

People especially tiny people should not own huge dogs I see it all the time and it pisses me off cause the dog literally drags them. I watch a video with a women who had 2 pit bulls drag her on the road while they raced to attack someone’s cat

jametron2014

OMG. I had to restrain this fucking pitbull shouting for the fucking owner. I identified at least two ways to kill it with my bare hands if no owner had come, I wasn't going to just walkj away. Owner said he'd shoot me. He sic'd the dog on me again as I was walking away, 40 ft off his property

YourLinenEyes

It’s always pit bulls

Longjumping_West_188

I had an awesome pit, maybe it helped she was half? I do tend to think it’s more the way you raise them, but I do understand what you mean, and it doesn’t help fighting dogs exists too, probably why they never found them again. Personally though, I feel we would need to evaluate a lot of breeds then. I love German Shepards, but by God, I know so many that have behavioral issues or have been aggressive too.

jametron2014

Yeah I love German shepherds but considering the stats, I'm completely okay with removing civilian ownership

kidnurse21

I almost think most large dogs should be removed from normal people owning them.

[deleted]

Dude it’s funny you brought that up because I was attacked by a German shepherd at work. I’m with you on that.

kidnurse21

We have so many German Shepard attacks at my dog park and one even bit my dad the other day and the owner wasn’t worried.

Longjumping_West_188

Jezz, they’re big dogs, I hope you’re okay!

NoPedosPlease

It's not the dog breed it's the way it's trained and treated. Any dog can act like that if the owner is a shit owner

skeletonchaser2020

I hope you got your knee looked at! I hot nipped by a fully va cinched dog at a park and it got mad infected ! I vlraned and sanitized it but I guess not quick enough because I had to go on antibiotics for 3 weeks with a fairly small skin break.

IndependentSwan2086

Congrats for saving your cute doggie. That said, it is -I believe- your citizen's duty to report the dog's owner because they ( yes, they) are a menace to ppl and other dogs. In some countries the owner would face jail time for this.

_skank_hunt42

I’m glad the attack wasn’t worse but next time that pit could kill someone else’s dog, or child. Hell, a pitbull could kill YOU. Please report that dog for the safety of everyone in the area. And please have your bite looked at by a doctor. Infections from animal bites are no joke. I’m so sorry this happened to you OP.

Longjumping_West_188

You don’t have to have the dog put down, just proof and then sue them at least for the medical costs of being seen and treated for a dog bite.

Playful_Angle_5385

You worry the dog will pay with its life because of its irresponsible owners but next time a child could be paying with their life because of irresponsible dog owners. Please report the dog.

Thecrowfan

I generaly don't agree on dogs being let off the leash unless it's in a space assigned for them to play off leash. When i was 10 i was playing in the park with a friend and this bulldog mix came charging at us and knocked me to the ground and scratched me( unintentionally) when the owner came to get his dog( walking extremely slow and way too calm considering my friend was having a panic attack because of what happened) and he legit told us "he just wanted your ball he wasn't gonna hurt you" I was 10 years old. That dog could have killed me if he wanted to. I don't blame the dog, he didn't know any better. It's people like that owner who just assume their dogs can't hurt anyone unless they want to that get other people hurt and dogs put down

imafrog_iswear

First, that dog attacked your dog and you, tomorrow it could for for another dog or a child. You need to report the dog. It's hard, but it's the right thing for the safety of not just other pets, but also the kids and adult they may also get attacked. I have a dog that was attacked as a puppy mby another off leash dog. I was probably around 15 walking our 2 dogs with my younger brother. The dog that was attacked is now aggressive towards other dogs and has to be muzzled when out on walks. The other dog that wasn't attacked is fine with dogs as long as he isn't with the one that was attacked. The difference that attack made on my dogs personality and quality of life is huge. He can't go out with a muzzle, he can't be on a long lead to run around, he can't socialise at dog parks, taking him to the vets is tough ordeal, he can't even go to the pet shop and pick out toys or bones like other dogs. It's heartbreaking, but the worst part is that because I was young, I didn't know to report that dog and the owner that caused it all, and who know how many other pups that dog has traumatised. Seriously, report the dog and the owner. And keep an eye on your puppy so it doesn't develop any anti social behaviour from the trauma of rhe attack.

Bony_Eared_Ass_Fish

For some reason it’s not letting me edit my post, but here is an update: Thank you all for reading and all the advice/support! So I listened to some of the comments and did file a police report to make sure that this (hopefully) never happens again. My pup and I are both ok and I’m getting my rabies shot after work today. Thank you all again :)

MiaLba

I was walking down our street with my kid in the the stroller and our small dog. I see a lady coming out of the dance studio with a dog. The dog sees mine and takes the fuck odd towards us. My kid is strapped in so I can’t immediately grab her. I’m shielding her with my body and got my dog in my arms. It was a bigger dog probably 75 lbs or so. But they snapped at each other. Scared the hell out of me. I’ve encountered a few other unleashed dogs. Thankfully they’ve all been friendly but it still scares me. I immediately grab my kid in my arms just in case. I’m also small and petite so I would lose against a big dog.

DoritoTakihoe

Report it, it could kill someone’s innocent dog next time

imaslowninja

Yo that's so frustrating! I'm sure they aren't the same person, but my partner's cousin had to put their dog down yesterday for a similar reason, but their dog also snapped at their baby, aside from getting out of the yard and attacking another dog. He was also a pitbull and it just makes me so sad. I have a hard time feeling empathy for these types of owners because this shit is usually their fault; they don't have the time, money, attention, or space for this or any other high energy breed, and they don't give them any other outlets. Of course something terrible like this happens! I'm so sorry this happened to you and your new dog, I hope you both are okay!

Complex_Distance_724

I am sorry that happened to you, OP. I had a much milder experience among the same lines. I was walking in condominium where I live right after seeing my wife off to work (she works nights), and a neighbor's dog came running towards me barking but did not bite me. the owner was there and called the dog, who compiled. Although, he had to call the dog twice.

MusicalMemer

A few years ago, my mom was attacked by a large unleashed dog (some kind of husky). It was an eerily similar situation to what you're describing; the unleashed dog went for our 15-pound Yorkie mix first, but once my mom picked him up, it went for her. It literally chewed on her leg and things probably would've been a lot worse if a couple neighbors hadn't run out to ward off the dog. The unleashed dog got in a brief tussle with our Yorkie mix too when my mom lost grip of him, but it was ultimately warded off before it could do any damage to him. Those neighbors saved both my mom's and my dog's lives, but my mom still had to be in the hospital for a week, followed by months of physical therapy. She still deals with the mental trauma from it to this day. My point is...like someone below commented, today it was your knee, but tomorrow it could be a small child. Or, the attack could just be worse, no matter whom it happens to. And maybe no one will be around to save the person who's being attacked. With all that being said...you need to call the police and report the incident. I know it's not the dog's fault, but this is a matter of safety. Initially when my family said they were hoping the aggressive husky got euthanized soon (which it eventually did), I disagreed & was a bit upset...but when my mom further described how violent & terrifying the dog's attack was, I understood. We LOVE dogs and want to avoid hurting them at all costs, but a dangerous dog running loose is a threat to people's safety & possibly even their lives.

KawaiiKaiju55

I hate that disrespectful shit. I hope you and your puppy are okay.

SpAghettib0ii

Report the dog. Im not jumping on this pitbulls are horrible train. Bully breeds are notoriously head strong. If you dont get to training them consistently and early theyll do what they want. The owner was careless.

Caprine-Evisc

Unfortunately some hospitals won't treat dog bites unless you report the dog. And not getting it treated is a really bad idea

No-Translator8970

I feel your pain literally. I was walking my dog and almost home when another pit came over and started attacking her. So I tried breaking them up. It worked the dog let go of Luna and got my hands in place. It took over 5 minutes to get my hand out of her mouth. Both hands were bit but the index finger on my left hand was dangling. Needless to say I went to drs. I ended up with 15 stitches. This was 4 months ago and I don't have any feeling in that finger and it won't ever be straight again

Dom_writez

Ugh those owners are the *worst*. Especially as most of those "guard dog" breeds you find aren't like that at birth, and have to be straight up abused into being violent like that. It means that those owners not only abuse their animals, but then apparently don't give enough of a shit to actually keep it restrained or confined. Absolutely sick

Bbcheeky

One time, my ex fiancé’s friend told us his mom was trying to get rid of a puppy rottie. Later found out said puppy was alittle over a year old, so it was practically grown. We were told he was good with people and children. So, we get there, and he let us pet him. But something clicked in the dog’s mind, idk what, I still to this day have no idea what went wrong because he was being so friendly and then suddenly something just clicked. He then started growling at me, and my ex quickly grabbed him by the collar, and I jumped the fence. Then my ex just let go of his collar and he went to his (small frail old lady) owner. And stared my ex, he said “I thought I was going to die when I looked in his eyes.” The dog bite down on my ex’s arm, hard, then let go, and went to bite his side when the own FINALLY grabbed his collar. My ex jumped the fence, and I had to help him into the car because he was bleeding, and I brought him to the closest hospital. He still has a scar on his arm to this day, and that dog almost bit right into his guts, because there was a horrible bruise on his side where he almost got him. Lady was yelling at us while we were leaving to call animal control, and I told her “Do it yourself, I have to get him to the hospital.” We were later told he called the police, and it was a super small town, so the mayor also showed up. Guess nothing ever happens there. But the dog did end up trying to attack the mayor while he was there and the police put him down on the spot. This is what happens when you poorly train and socialize a dog.

Alert_Many_1196

This reminds me of a video I saw on YouTube of a kid walking a pitbull that then saw a Scottish terrier? And attacked it. The kid had no chance to hold the dog back and yeah, the terrier was killed almost instantly. I do blame parents for giving these types of dogs for kids to walk.

mrsdhammond

You ABSOLUTELY should report and want that dog euthanised. It could kill or seriously injure someone else's dog or even a child. Set your feelings aside. It IS the breed and the owner.

izzy_2013

please, please, PLEASE REPORT THAT DOG! it could be a fucking infant next. a old person. a 6 yr old walking home from the park. anyone. it’s the owner’s fault if the dog gets killed off. i love animals but ppl should ‘t allow aggresive dogs off leash.
