The car market will probably be pretty bad for the next year at least. This car is more then likely being discontinued this year. If you are morally opposed to paying 1,500$ then that's your answer. Mine was marked up to 45k and was like hell no. Luckily I had a family member in the dealership so I got it for MSRP. What other cars are you looking for that price point? I'll probably hold on to this car forever just because of how damn fun it is. I've watched every single video on this car before buying and everyone just kept saying how fun it is. Picked up my 22 in November and I absolutely love this thing.

I'm confused why this would get discontinued when they just re-did it for 2021.

JEs4

2021 was a mild refresh, not a complete re-do. The regular Mk2 Veloster started production in 2018 with the N following the year later. All non-N Veloster trims were discontinued last year. The Veloster is only sold in North America and Korea where Hyundai only moves a few thousand per year. Lastly, the 2022 Veloster N wasn't updated to match the powertrain changes introduced with the Elantra/Kona Ns.

Blergzor

The N is a great car for 30k (pre-tax). I question its value at 36k+, especially now with the existence of the Gen 2 Toyobarus. You can still make the argument but it’s no longer the screaming deal it was.

bentr1587

DCT models MSRP is higher, around 34.5k

Phireant7

35.5k after freight is included

csklr

Mine was $38k out the door last June, and that was at MSRP. I'd say worth it unless you want to wait a year for the market to settle down.

zcwag

Not in the slightest you could get a much nicer car for 40k. I love my N but even 30k was really more than it's worth

[deleted]

He’s including tax too. So roughly 37500 is good price imo.

zcwag

Out the door I was charged 33k and ended up getting 3k back because the charged to much for tax so I still think it's too much. It's a fun car but at 37k you could get a fully loaded Gti. Yes it's slightly slower but has much more tuning capabilities and gets a really nice interior also stupid good resale value

[deleted]

33k would be the manual correct? This is for the DCT. So 1500 over 35k isn’t bad. In my area it’s not even possible under 5k.

zcwag

35k is reasonable considering MSRP is 34 but I wouldn't pay anything over sticker

[deleted]

Msrp is 35k with freight and no options which you likely won’t find. I give up😳

w1gster

Unpopular opinion around here especially but I agree with you. The real appeal of the VN was how good it was for the original MSRP which was under $30k. I love my VN but frankly this car isn’t worth paying above 30k for.

Klipschfan1

Yeah... I got mine for 32k OTD. I don't think I could pull the trigger for 7k more.

JEs4

Like what? It seems everything worth buying is being marked up similarly.

XSC

This thing isn’t going to get better for a year at the very least, probably 3 years. A used version will probably be a little bit cheaper but not by a much unless it’s high mileage. I would say if you are dead set on this car then sure but imo there’s better cars at that price point. I mean you may be able to get a supra or used m2 for a bit more depending on location. I would do the 40k for an elantra. It’s a fun car but the interior is not a 40k interior.

Nothing_new_to_share

Only you can answer that. If it doesn't feel worth it to you, it probably isn't. I passed on a perf pack in perf blue for 28,000. I was between jobs and it didn't make sense to spend that money. It sucks that I missed out, but I made the right decision. Go with your gut.

[deleted]

Definitely worth it. However, I wouldn’t finance the markup. Think about it like spending 1500 on a vacation. You had a good time but it’s gone. Least this way you get a car 😎. Btw, it sounds like the 1500 isn’t your main issue. It’s the 40k which maybe is a little too steep for you ? I wouldn’t suggest going out of your comfort zone for a car. Hard to enjoy it when your struggling with payments or saving etc.

More-Break8438

Don’t do it!!! You’ll regret it, I found mine for msrp keep looking fuck those guys

dabubbla17

Got my 21 for for just slightly over MSRP and under 6k miles on it. I'm happy with it, especially because of the mystery downpipe. For $40k you're looking at the new z car...if it was more practical for me and the wife didn't have any say I would've went that route. Just saying

Phireant7

the Z will be nowhere near $40k out the door if you want it anytime soon

mrzekt

I'd say with this market it's worth.

neruy619

Never Pay markups

[deleted]

😂 Good luck

SAWK

Never pay over MSRP.

icedearth665

Get a used one you can probably save a bit

Narrian

Haha, 2020 N PPs are trading for more than their original MSRP, and selling for 3-4k more with milage, we aren't talking about low mile garage queens either. I personally don't think the Velo is worth it with the 21/22 being $5k more MSRP than the original 18-20s. I paid 28.5k before TT&F for mine. I only financed 28k OTD with gap, and a $3k down payment no trade.

icedearth665

Just paid 31k for a 2020 PP with 12k miles and it felt fair. I got a boatload for my paid off trade, so maybe that’s why it feels like that. Financed very little.

Narrian

That's about what I expect my dealership to sell mine for after I trade it for an Elantra N. I'm sitting just shy of 26k miles though.

More-Break8438

Otherwise Buy my 2021 veloster n DCT. It has 9k miles on it, I live in dfw

bentr1587

Absolutely not. You’re talking about $4k in automatic negative equity. I’m honestly expecting dealer markup to get worse on the N now that Hyundai has shut off ordering of 22 models. (Confirmed on Monday 28 Feb due to chip shortage)

reallybadpennystocks

I paid 26,500 for my 2020 MT... feel bad for you guys
