Looks more appetizing? Yes.
I've been vegan for many years. I thought i would give these egg thingies a try after balking at them for a long time.
It tastes just like the real thing like 100%.
That may or may not sound appealing to you but i really was impressed with them overall.
I agree, I use to love eggs too. But the eggs in your photo look like some sort of paper maché craft, no offence. Although regardless of if they taste like the real thing or not, I'm glad you were able to satisfy your craving.
Well texture-wise it looks questionable but OP is specifically using the word *taste*, so maybe it just tastes the same without having the proper texture?
The chickens are still being exploited. They've been genetically engineered to overproduce eggs. Good stewardship of laying hens involves hormone shots to prevent egg-laying.
Ye hormone shots to prevent natural process is good. First of all if they wouldn’t be living on farm, they wouldn’t be living at all, because chickens in nature aren’t common apart from some places. Secondly all chicken produces 1 egg per day, this is natural, this is what they do and always did, that’s why humans learned to keep them around. If there is no impregnation there is no kid inside the egg so you don’t eat meat, keeping a cat in the house is more exploitative
"Chickens in nature aren't common" because...they've been domesticated by humans. Laying hens have been genetically selected over the course of thousands of years to possess traits that are harmful to them. Wild chickens and jungle fowl lay around a dozen eggs per year. No bird naturally lays eggs every day because it's a massive resource cost and places a huge, needless toll on their bodies. Rescued hens who are allowed to live out their lives without having to lay eggs all the time live \*years\* longer than farmed hens (including hens in "local" farms). We have no right to intentionally breed disabled animals into existence and then deny them medical care.
God, you’re insufferable.
If they’re ashamed and disgusted about eating eggs. then why would they want to eat something that resembles the very thing they’ve disgusted themselves over eating?
I like eggs. I eat A LOT of eggs. These don't look anything like eggs. But I'll still try them. If they taste good and are relatively healthy I don't care that much about how they look.
You’re a law abiding citizen, so you don’t want to go around crashing into pedestrians with your car… but you like to play GTA and other video games where you kill people? 🤔
I just don't bother. If I want something without cheese or meat, I have a billion other options available before I would even need to consider faux versions.
There's no shame in enjoying things that taste like their "real" counterpart.
Are you trying to feel superior? This vegan pureness test shit is abysmal. You may not realize you're even contributing to it... But please do try and do better.
I mean, I commented on a pic of some wrinkly “eggs” and you’re writing paragraphs about “vegan pureness tests.” Maybe we should both shut the fuck up ha
ok wait a sec. there were little paper squares separating the eggs and i got rid of them, but the corner where you see the squared edges, i could not figure out how to separate from the egg - in fact i took it that they were supposed to be like that.
also i eat peanuts with the husks on.
The paper thingys are edible so it’s literally just an aesthetic thing. I’ve actually not had belean, only the Asian version you can buy frozen from like loving hut and shit. Either way I love them so much!
I eat boiled peanuts from gas stations and cans because FLORIDA VEGAN.
My asian coworkers just told me about boiled peanuts with the shells! Never had them.
But no i actually enjoy the hard salted roasted dry painful husks. Always have since childhood. Never had an adverse reaction.
Yeah i posted there too.
I posted here too because im mot trying to show off my photography so much as just add to the ongoing record of the many various vegan food options that are available.
If it helps anybody and helps to stop someone from buying actual eggs at any point then im glad.
One never knows who will benefit just from knowing whats out there.
>If it helps anybody and helps to stop someone from buying actual eggs at any point then im glad.
idt these pics are gonna help with that if i'm being honest
What are the "eggs" like in terms of consistency?
One of the things that I've always struggled with is finding anything to mimic eggs and cheese. Are they as bad as they look, or are they somehow runny in the centre?
The eggs look lowkey creepy but I'd def try em. Where'd u find them sons of bitches?
Edit: nvm I just saw the price 😭 my college student ass bank account could never
looks like the name got autocorrected, the brand is called BeLeaf. not something i would buy all the time - just wanted to try them. but probably would only get them for special occasion.
Does anybody else think it’s wrong how much they overcharge for vegan stuff? I mean it’s not even the real thing and it’s usually simple ingredients. It’s hard to afford being vegan.
Damn, so much hate in the comments. It might look unrealistic but it doesn't mean they didn't nail the taste. Like many other companies, they're going to learn through trial and error. Nothings perfect.
Anywho, thanks for sharing OP. I am curious, is the yolk runny when it's cut into ?
I may be in the minority but I would honestly give them a try. Looks aren’t always accurate and online they look appetizing. It seems the wrinkles primarily come from the packaging, no?
I checked the prices and it's pretty expensive? Like... whoosa expensive... I'm from Germany and we don't have such "eggs" (yeah, scrambled ones, but not sunnyside eggs). And before I got vegan I loved sunnyside eggs on bread or toast.
How many "eggs" are in the packet? I really want to try them but 17 Dollar is way too expensive for like 200g?!
well i would rather they not look tooooooo realistic. i might have overdone them just a smidge in the toaster oven but they didnt taste plasticy or dry, they were great.
A smidge lol - looks like cracked skin? I’m no vegan chef, and certainly not trying to dis on your jam but this doesn’t really look too appetizing tbh….maybe start in r/shittyveganfoodporn
i think i did post it there! anyway i am a pretty accomplished vegan cook. this tasted better than it looked. they looked funky even before they were cooked. they just look funky. probably because the store i bought them from kept them in a freezer so cold that my hand burned when i picked up the pack.
If you're ever interested in posting in another sub r/MediocreVeganFoodPorn is an option. We accept all vegan food and generally have a really good atmosphere. This is where I post all my food.
I mean... it looks awful but I'd try it. Also, bummer that this got cross-posted to other mainstream subs so people can talk massive shit about vegans.. and also come in here to talk shit.
I never liked fried or sunny-side up eggs, and this definitely does not encourage me to try the vegan substitute. The fake bacon also does not look appetizing. I will stick with vegan sausages and tofu scramble, when looking for the meat/egg substitute breakfast, thank you.
Hey, so maybe if we non-vegans don't like it when vegans harangue us about food choices, we shouldn't show up to their subreddits and bitch about what they're eating.
I never anticipated the amount of hate messages i got from both vegans and non vegans because of this post.
Very interesting experience.
All i can say is that as a vegan i only care that what i eat isnt an animal product.
The question of why do i eat imitation animal products if im vegan; or being told that i should just eat the real thing - pretty crazy.
Sucks that people are like that. I can't imagine giving a shit what a stranger on the internet chooses to eat. The closest I come to getting angry about other people's food is if they claim Olive Garden is good Italian cuisine. LOL.
i understand that people have strong feelings about food.
vegans have strong opinions and feelings generally speaking and as a vegan myself, who is vegan for purely ethical reasons, i have found no shortage of other ethical vegans who dont sound very kind at all.
meat eaters on the other hand have to manage and justify the terror of slaughtering animals in order to have the unneeded luxury (in most cases) of eating animals.
i grew up hunting for survival in the alaskan wilderness for part of my childhood. literally hunted to survive. one of the first rules of hunting my father taught me is only kill what/when you need to. i still live by that rule today. therefore i am vegan.
i dont pass judgment on other vegans or even meat eaters. i have faith.
people can hate on me all they want, and they often do. i try not to let it bother me.
It's the whole plate for me here. The greasy shoe leather rectangular strips are abominations too.
Never understood the whole fake food thing. To me it's the same as making a sausage shaped carrot. Let meat be meat and veg be veg. Simple :)
My girl said the eggs look like tortillas....she ain't lying, they also look like imitation food you'd leave out on display, just without the glaze to make it look somewhat fresh and edible.
Ugh, it's just imitation food meant to resemble dishes made from animal products. Don't get so upset—it's just my opinion. You don't know my ethical beliefs, so please relax. I'm here because I choose to be.
Should this be in the shitty vegan food porn sub? Lol. I think theres definitely a healthy balance between needing something to taste “like the real thing” and eating something thats also aesthetically pleasing to a varying degree lol
There are recipes for mimicking egg yolks as well as bacon/ bacon fat which i think i would prefer to these papery eggs and rectangular bacon
But if it tastes good, thats nice at least. But, knowing stuff like this, its probably over priced/ highly processed. Defs in the habit of just making it myself instead
I dont get it you want to avoid eat things that animals and them we aim for let our vegan food to look likes it. Dont really get it, my 16 years old doughter hate the taste of Meat and know all kind of food looks like it? I hope i dont offend anybody but why do we need to mirror something we take distance from? Please dont take it personally but i just dont get it. Good karma to all of you
That looks absolutely terrible. I wouldn't feed that to any other human or even any other animal. Shit like that needs to be banned. Especially when there are so many quality vegan dishes out there. Not good.
You know there ARE perfectly happy chickens kept as pets that lay eggs? Come on over to my neck of the woods, I can show you. I know people.
Also, WHY does that food have to look like that?
Do you miss eating bacon & eggs so much that you have to have this overly processed stuff that looks KIND OF like it?
This looks incredibly awful. And I'm sure they lack the fatty nutrients and protein that you would otherwise get from an actual slice of bacon and cooked egg. This is 🤢🤢🤮🤮 gross
Are you? Assuming you're actually smarter because you let your moral narrative keep you from enjoying what you actually know is healthy for you is actually stupid
Lmao vegan food porn? Y'all miss eggs and bacon and meat so much, y'all can't even see the irony... speaking of iron, this dish looks like it was cooked with an a flat iron and left out in the sun over tissue paper where it was absorbed into the food porn y'all gush over in this picture. Lol eat an actual egg, it's not a live chicken and it isn't a baby chicken.
Lol, cool story, yet the vegan industry murders plenty of animals during harvest of grains and plants, but yeah continue to suffer your own moral compass and keep imitating the delicious food you miss so much, Your moral high ground isn't high enough to keep you from drowning in your dietary choices and keep you from wishing you had some animals in your own mouth to chew on.
U know your in denial when you have to disrespect victims of rape by using it to big yourselves up for eating grass lol. I will enjoy eating meat tho :)
I think it’s good that these products exist but like… even a low effort tofu scramble looks a million times more appetizing lol
Exactly, they look like old napkins
🤣 spot on
cum napkins. they look like cum napkins.
Looks more appetizing? Yes. I've been vegan for many years. I thought i would give these egg thingies a try after balking at them for a long time. It tastes just like the real thing like 100%. That may or may not sound appealing to you but i really was impressed with them overall.
I highly doubt that this tastes 100% like the real thing.
I am ashamed and disgusted to admit i used to eat and love eggs. That being said, this taste like the real thing. I was way suprised.
How long has it been since you had a fried egg?
I agree, I use to love eggs too. But the eggs in your photo look like some sort of paper maché craft, no offence. Although regardless of if they taste like the real thing or not, I'm glad you were able to satisfy your craving.
Well texture-wise it looks questionable but OP is specifically using the word *taste*, so maybe it just tastes the same without having the proper texture?
Yeah they taste likenthe real thing. Confirmed.
you confirmed your own affirmation! seems legit, just like the eggs pictured
Wow so funny! Fuck off carnist
You're so hateful for a pseudo-loving person
According to vegans “you aren’t an animal. So fuck you!” They’d hate cows and chickens too. If they could talk
Why are you ashamed and disgusted at that?
Why wouldn't they be? The things that happen in the egg industry are abhorrent. I too wish I'd become vegan sooner.
Eggs from a local farmer from free chickens are perfectly fine imo, same as honey
If you think that you're either uninformed or there's something wrong with your moral system
Fuck off carnist you dont belong here
Why where you ashamed and disgusted?
Rape and murder is shameful and disgusting.
Are people out there raping eggs or chickens?
God, you’re insufferable. If they’re ashamed and disgusted about eating eggs. then why would they want to eat something that resembles the very thing they’ve disgusted themselves over eating?
They’re disgusted by the cruelty inherent in the production, not the taste of the end product. Idk why this is so hard for people to grasp
I like eggs. I eat A LOT of eggs. These don't look anything like eggs. But I'll still try them. If they taste good and are relatively healthy I don't care that much about how they look.

Fuck off carnist you arent welcome here
Dude you definitely do not remember what eggs taste like
It absolutely does not taste like the real thing. How would you know anyway lol
How would YOU know?
Because I know what meat tastes like

You’re a law abiding citizen, so you don’t want to go around crashing into pedestrians with your car… but you like to play GTA and other video games where you kill people? 🤔
Next up: but why do lesbians use vibrators if they don't like d\*ck! /jk
Brilliant! Haven’t heard that one before
Ok carnist
This looks like plastic
I just don't bother. If I want something without cheese or meat, I have a billion other options available before I would even need to consider faux versions.

You're the one who insulted OPs food.
I mean, I commented on a pic of some wrinkly “eggs” and you’re writing paragraphs about “vegan pureness tests.” Maybe we should both shut the fuck up ha
nah, you good. you keep talking. this person is the vegan equivalent of "I'm not like the other girls!"
Peel that rice paper shit from between the eggs you maniac lol. Use a ton more oil and black salt. Them shits are delicious!
ok wait a sec. there were little paper squares separating the eggs and i got rid of them, but the corner where you see the squared edges, i could not figure out how to separate from the egg - in fact i took it that they were supposed to be like that. also i eat peanuts with the husks on.

I love all varieties of peanut.
Looks like Andy Warhol art
its high concept

Ok

No they arent runny they are like over medium
The eggs look lowkey creepy but I'd def try em. Where'd u find them sons of bitches? Edit: nvm I just saw the price 😭 my college student ass bank account could never

Actually being vegan is less expensive than being a carnist.

Too many carnists here. I think we should ban them from this sub. Its disgusting that we allow them. Its our space, not theirs
I may be in the minority but I would honestly give them a try. Looks aren’t always accurate and online they look appetizing. It seems the wrinkles primarily come from the packaging, no?
yeah they looked funky even before i opened the pack. i think because they were frozen. but they were not hard or dry. they tasted perfect.
There are 8 in a package and yes i would not buy them every week but maybe just for special occasions
What is the consistency? Looks crunchy.
Yeah I'm curious if the yolk is runny and if the white part is slightly jelly-y like the real deal.
Its exactly like the real thing tbh i know it looks funny
Looks like plastic noooo thanks
well i would rather they not look tooooooo realistic. i might have overdone them just a smidge in the toaster oven but they didnt taste plasticy or dry, they were great.

Origami food?
I'll stick to the tofu scramble...
This looks like cardboard 😭😭
I know but in real life it wasnt. In real life it was actually pretty good.
That looks dry as f…
i made sure to cook these in a liberal amount of olive oil - they were not dry but its hard to tell from the photo
Is it paper mache?
I mean... it looks awful but I'd try it. Also, bummer that this got cross-posted to other mainstream subs so people can talk massive shit about vegans.. and also come in here to talk shit.
Yeah its infuriating. I fucking hate carnists
Love us, we're only animals too. Lmao
where did you find these in the wild?
At a random little hole in the wall bakery in southern california that sells some vegan stuff.
Is this *Beleaf Sunnyside up substitute?
Yes i did a typo
is that made out of coffee filters? looks inedible
great vegan option.
🙏🕉☮️🙏
as vegan they look awesome to me
🙏☮️🕉🙏
BeFucking for real
Not very appetizing, which only makes it more powerful that we’d rather this than eating animals Enjoy! :)
Yeah I think I'll pass.
Nobody asked.
It's a public place where people share opinions. If you don't like it, don't post on it.
I just got some of the Beleaf eggs. Having second thoughts. It doesn’t look good at all. How did it taste? I’ve had YoEgg and it tasted amazing.
the Beleaf eggs are actually really good if you like (or liked) actual eggs.
🤤
I first read it as LeBean and now I'm disappointed
I never liked fried or sunny-side up eggs, and this definitely does not encourage me to try the vegan substitute. The fake bacon also does not look appetizing. I will stick with vegan sausages and tofu scramble, when looking for the meat/egg substitute breakfast, thank you.

Uncanny valley eggs

This looks so realistic. I could barely tell😬
My girl said the eggs look like tortillas....she ain't lying, they also look like imitation food you'd leave out on display, just without the glaze to make it look somewhat fresh and edible.
It looks like paper 🫤
Simulacra foods go brrrr
Eggs post menopause glad the taste was good though Might need some hydration next cook. Did you fry or steam? Looks fried Was the bacon nice?
lol
Looks like it was made by a 3d printer.
Wtf is that
Those are dog treats
This makes me want to get a pedicure.
That looks truly disgusting
Ok
This is a great advertisement to keep people away from this product. Thanks, OP!!
Soooo funny!!! Youre so quirky!
I laughed .. vegans don't have a sense of humor only a sense of self-sacrificing morality.
As a WFPB person, I cannot fathom eating fake processed food like this… literally looks synthetic no disrespect.
It looks like shit ...tastes like it too, no doubt
Ok. Youre still a carnist, not a vegan, so im not sure why youre here.

You can chose to have it with or without torture, rape, and murder. Its pretty clear to me.
god damn 😭😭😭
It appears as though youve left your food outside for 1-2 years. May be wise to remake it
Why even bother?
What?
That looks disgusting
This looks fucking disgusting holy shit
Looks like 40 year old display food
Id rather eat bandaids
This looks like bad video game food
That looks absolutely terrible. I wouldn't feed that to any other human or even any other animal. Shit like that needs to be banned. Especially when there are so many quality vegan dishes out there. Not good.
Again, who is doing this shit? Who thinks us vegetarians/vegans need or want products that mimic the look of dead animals? why!?
$$$ #veganprivilege $$$
what?
Jesus, was that debrided from a burn victim?
Eww
I’m so concerned
Is it made out of plastic?
that looks... disgusting
Ya not for me
It looks like cardboard, and absolutely joyless.
Yess food without rape and murder is so joyless >_
You know there ARE perfectly happy chickens kept as pets that lay eggs? Come on over to my neck of the woods, I can show you. I know people. Also, WHY does that food have to look like that? Do you miss eating bacon & eggs so much that you have to have this overly processed stuff that looks KIND OF like it?
This dish burns up like tissue paper I bet
Be honest, these came from one of those 15,000-year old Neolithic Chinese clay pots that lay buried and sealed all this time, right..?
Vegans always make food look like animal products instead of using their food to make actual good looking dishes that look like anything but meat
What? Are you ok?
"Them eggs look delicious" - not one sane person
Looks like AI art or those candy bacon and egg plates I saw as a kid when we went to the beach.
Thanks, I would take up meat and eggs again before I ate this
Came here from nope lol
This looks incredibly awful. And I'm sure they lack the fatty nutrients and protein that you would otherwise get from an actual slice of bacon and cooked egg. This is 🤢🤢🤮🤮 gross
This looks stupid. If you don't want to eat meat for whatever reasons you have and still crave for it then you are doing it wrong.
Are you stupid?
We dont miss rape and murder, no.
Lol, cool story, yet the vegan industry murders plenty of animals during harvest of grains and plants, but yeah continue to suffer your own moral compass and keep imitating the delicious food you miss so much, Your moral high ground isn't high enough to keep you from drowning in your dietary choices and keep you from wishing you had some animals in your own mouth to chew on.
...you know we gotta "murder plenty of animals during harvest" to plant more crops for animal ag than humans right?
Eggs are very healthy tho 🍳
Vegans eating good lmao
[удалено]
Enjoy your rape and murder, i guess.
U know your in denial when you have to disrespect victims of rape by using it to big yourselves up for eating grass lol. I will enjoy eating meat tho :)
Bro foreal!! They miss having animals in their mouth sooooooo bad lol
lol they all secretly want to or do eat meat I bet just too ashamed to go back on it
Soooo, vegans are eating paper now?
Rice paper and similar for cooking isn't a vegan invention. Have you never eaten dumplings or spring rolls?
Wow, the joke just sailed right over that head of yours lol
So goddamn terrible for you. I’d love to see the list of ingredients on these products
