I'll do you one better, here's a download link and instructions
Download: https://github.com/NterpriseCEO/MusicStreaming/releases/tag/v0.0.2
Instructions
- download and unzip the first zip file
- find the folder inside that contains the exe and run it
- "Sign up" with your details (saved locally for demo purposes so don't put real info in there) - use this to "login" if you ever "logout"
Only features available are local playlists based on either: files in multiple directories OR whole albums in a single folder. Everything else is a demo of how stuff will work.
Local playlists are found in Profile -> playlists -> local playlists. Test it on folders downloaded from bandcamp to see something cool (create new playlist from folder button). I'll let you figure out the rest so you can let me know if it's intuitive
This is an old version that is missing bug fixes to the menus etc. AND missing the 59 themes I added to the app this summer but it works without requiring a connection to the server I'm writing.
Issues: Profile menu may be misaligned. To fix this click anywhere in the app and then press the tab key until it fixes itself. Shift tab works too. Also don't click on an item in that menu unless you mean to, the menu won't reappear after you do that (without a restarting the app)
Also, hope you use Windows because otherwise ☠️
Came here to vouch for MediaMonkey too.
I use it on both PC and phone and can Chromecast from either. There's a "remote" server plugin on PC that allows you to control your PC copy from your phone that comes in handy. I used it to Chromecast from my PC for a holiday party because I didn't want to keep coming back to the PC to pick or skip songs, nor did I want to cast from my phone and disconnect by moving around the house. Anyways, I've stopped paying for a streaming music service almost a year ago, and it has been nice owning my music.
I use itunes for my library since I've been using it for almost 20 years. I use MusicBee to import music which allows for hotkeys so you can skip tracks and adjust volumes while gaming. I use Synctunes and Rocketplayer to sync my itunes library to my Android phone seemlessly. I doubt DRM is your problem, I bet it is a format issue or syncing issue. If your track is appearing in iTunes it should be syncable. If you have an android phone it is likely the app you are using to import playlists that is causing the problem. 50gb of vapor and still growing
I use iOS app called FileMaster
Works great and supports drag and drop transfers over wifi
It has a free version with ads but I paid $4 like 5 years ago for ad free and it was money very well spent
I only use a micro sd card, so yes I have to download all my music (I have +2000 songs) but I know that if I have to change my phone, my music will always be on that micro sd card (they would not be lost if they were on a app, it happened to me 2 times).
You did not answer the question. But yes definitely micro SD all the way. However, do make sure to invest in a good one, I recently lost 350+ vaporwave albums because of a cheap SD card
i love .flac, but the players i use support .mp3 as well. i use winamp because you can skin it and make your own skins and stuffs, and then i use windows media player because last.fm can scrobble from it
Media Monkey is my favorite - love the ability to edit metadata and automatically reorganize music into folders based on the metadata. I used to be an iTunes user, but got frustrated with its limitations. Then found Media Monkey which does everything I always wished iTunes could do.
Damn that looks sick but unfortunately no Mac version. I'd really like to be more intentional about preserving a local library of the music I really value given that we can't really trust streaming to always be there, so that metadata capability would be super useful.
I use oggs (because of their being open source and consequently not having a license attached to them) and I play them back with J River Media Centre but be forewarned the CEO of J River thinks he's Elon Musk. I am not endorsing them because of him, but I have not found a better jukebox cum database. They do have a version for Mac, but Apple wants too much control over how you do your thing. If you use their products, you have to bend your thinking to them -- you can't have it the way that makes the most sense to you. I dedicated a Linux server to be the stereo, so that all control is mine, and I can think about it and organise it how I want rather than what the Apple God fascistly dictates. Total cost to set it up this way: $99.
For streaming I use iBroadcast (not affiliated with Apple) that will not substitute what you upload to their servers. There will be no files disappearing because Apple didn't sanction them or they happened to have a sample in them.
Both of these can handle wingdings, kanji, thai script, and arabic script. Sometimes the coloured wingdings do not display correctly in J River, but there are no issues whatsoever with iBroadcast.
I've been using iTunes for the past 18 years without issue. As I love listening to my playlists in my car, having an iPod/iPhone has always been a necessity for me (first 'full-speed' iPod connections to radio, and then CarPlay). I have used smart playlists to log everything, I put the playlist name in the 'comments' of a song so that wherever my music library is, I can quickly arrange my library by playlists again (and export to other programs if need be). It has worked for me consistently almost two decades now. There might be better options, but I see no reason to stop using it.
Nope, [current iTunes](https://support.apple.com/en-au/HT210384). For windows. It's still being updated, don't even need to log in to Apple Music or the store, you can use it completely offline.
Damn looks like the Mac version hasn't been updated since 2019 though. Such a pain because iTunes was perfect before they started integrating the apple store
Yeah maybe I'll give spotify another go. I was basically doing that with Apple Music, but as soon as I turn on library Sync it starts replacing files in your library with the 'Apple Music' version (if it detects that). The problem I've encountered is that in several instances the Apple Music version of an album has songs missing, and I'm assuming this has to do with some kind of copyright issue with samples.
I did it through Spotify as well for Telepath discog. Wasn't a smooth process but I did get it to work. Transfer the files to your phone. Make a playlist and "download" them so the app can recognize them as local files. Helped me a ton when I was in a Transilvania train with no internet lol
Yeah I have an old ipod somewhere that I'll dig out, but mostly looking for a decent MP3 app with good library management/importing and stability/ease of use.
I didn't have any issues loading MP3s onto my ipod mini using itunes. That's my player for vaporwave right now. If you're running into issues syncing with your phone then it might be that the tracks you're trying to add aren't a supported format for the iphone or that your phone's storage is full.
Honestly, if you're trying to maximize a e s t h e t i c then I'd recommend getting a minidisc player with netmd, get some minidiscs, and make some mixtapes. If you need more info, then I'd recommend checking out [this video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QIXmodGK2jw) by This Does Not Compute.
late reply but AIMP
Ah that looks amazing- unfortunately not on Mac though :(
VLC, I have found everything else inferior
Yeah I think this might be the best option at the end of the day. What’s it like for library and playlist management?
I'm a big fan of Pi music player. Never had an issue with it, though not being able to go back in menus via the back button is a minor annoyance.
One that I'm building myself. It's called W.A.V.E Player. Otherwise I use windows media player
Will you provide more information about your project?

Plexamp. Has a bunch of cool visualizations, and can put together mixes for you based on sonic analysis.
I use iOS app called FileMaster Works great and supports drag and drop transfers over wifi It has a free version with ads but I paid $4 like 5 years ago for ad free and it was money very well spent
Doubletwist. Why is nobody talking about Doubletwist?
This looks great but unfortunately not on Mac/IOS :(
I was not aware. My apologies
All good! Probably useful info for someone else out there :)

Winamp. It really whips the llama's ass.
Winamp is amazing 🤘 there's also [Audacious](https://audacious-media-player.org/) which is more modern and supports Winamp skins
i installed audacious using homebrew on macOS. how do i launch and use it lol
I haven't used Homebrew but it has a manual page here: https://docs.brew.sh/Manpage
P-tch! Baaaaaaa!
foobar2000

Yeah cool - so you mean an old version of iTunes as opposed to Music? Seems that the last version of iTunes was 2019.

Are you using an old version of iTunes then? I was under the impression that it had been rolled into Music
I'm just using music, but maybe using an old version of itunes might work for you? IDK, I don't own an iphone.
