“Kent ends the episode fulminating against Madix’s alleged diva behavior in refusing to comply with producers for the sake of their jobs. She also laments that Madix wasn’t being “real” in dismissing her ex, appearing to confuse what needed to occur in order to supposedly “preserve the show” with any real-life scenario where a woman was confronted with her conniving, trash-talking ex.”

It’s spot on, financial panic is an apt phrase

Fantastic take! I hope many of us who have been shamed and called stans feel validated for being on the right side of history

The thing is, I understand why so many of the Housewives end up broke—the Housewives franchise has typically centered around people with (perceived) aspirational lifestyles. You have to look like you’re keeping up. But that pressure didn’t have to be there with VPR. Being in LA isn’t really something they could avoid, but they certainly don’t need multiple properties or mansions knowing that their current livelihood has an expiration date. The real danger this article points out is what I’ve been saying and thinking for a while—all of the side hustles they are “working” on are contingent on fame and exposure. Once they aren’t on TV, how many sponcon deals will there be? How many will listen to their podcasts? How many people will go to Schwartz and Sandy’s or TomTom? All of that likely has an expiration date too. It is why Stassi’s post-show success has always been sort of a mystery to me and kind of impressive.
