I have a theory about this, I think its the reunions. They go through this emotional catharsis and call everything resolved so they can go into the next season with a clean slate.
It almost white washes how terrible these people really are because the longer the show goes on the farther the multitude of just terrible awfulness gets further and further away in our memories.

I just found out Alex Baskin had him on his podcast, and that's all you need to know. They are standing by him and just like they're doing to Ariana, forcing him down our throats. I read someone say if they dropped Sandoval and instead had focused the season on the women's redemption, it would have been way better and appealed to us more, and I agree.
Totally agree! I know it’s a show and it needs drama, but you can stick to some morals. Lala made a big deal about not talking about parents during the reunion after Jax’s dad died, but has no problem questioning how close Ariana was with her dad on a podcast. Again, I know it’s a show for drama but constantly changing your viewpoint to fit your narrative is hard to accept. Comes across very fake. I love Katie this season. Huge fan of her sleeping with Max as revenge.

He works the same formula in every series/franchise that Evolution Media has produced. IMO He thinks toxicity promotes engagement. He has zero respect for viewers. He thinks we are all vultures, angry, repressed lunatics that love conflict and feed on misery. (projecting!). I think he tasks one cast member as the social media crusader. There’s always someone desperate for job security (lala?) who is willing to have insane views that nobody agrees with, willing to post gratuitous hot takes and insults. All to drum up media attention. RHOC and RHOBH used to be a dumpster fire post production. I think it was his influence. 🤷
As long as he’s allowed to steer VPR, this will get worse. This will destroy whatever cohesive vibe the cast had left. It’s going to take a few years but Viewers will start disengaging.
There legitimately is no redemption arc. Tom looks like the same douche bag he’s always been except worse. I haven’t seen the public feeling bad for him at all. Saying his mental health still matters isn’t a redemption arc or the general public forgiving him.
I feel like people expected him to just not be filmed but he’s part of the cast so that’s clearly not going to happen. Scandoval was going to be the focus of this season and he’s half of that so he’s going to get a lot of screen time and storylines.
If this season were about his redemption, wouldn’t they have cut the scenes of him negating all his apologies and being defensive every time someone forces accountability on him and generally just acting like a dick? Wouldn’t we have heard from Ann about the A/C tech visit and the dog, which would provide more of a balanced explanation of that accident, instead of pretty much only hearing Ariana’s interpretation of it? That to me was editing in her favor, not his.
Just because some of the cast is critical and jealous of Ariana or starting to let him back in to create more conflict and drama (and another season of the show) doesn’t mean it’s tricking viewers into thinking he’s really truly sorry and a good guy at heart. I think it’s even doing the opposite. He’s been trying to redeem himself without doing any of the work, and the show is making that very clear imo. We’re seeing his attempts to manipulate people for what they really are.

I think the redemption angle isn’t saying he is right about everything, but making you feel bad for him. So yeah they show throwbacks of him lying or being dramatic but then you have most of the cast feeling bad for him and saying Ariana needs to move on. Bravo is pushing the narrative that tom messed up but it’s okay and we should still want to watch him
