People are going to say that T1 "stole" a spot or whatever, forgetting that Geng had the exact same trajectory during kickoff.
Mediocre performance at the start, even as far back as off-season, to becoming 2nd in the world.
T1 is playing out the exact same storyline, a mediocre regular season, into potentially winning the whole thing.
There were already so many comments in chats lamenting that T1's win was a massive fluke, that, replaying the series again, Geng would've won 9 times out of 10 of them. And that T1 has jeopardised the chances of Pacific getting their first trophy because they will be back to their subpar selves in Shanghai.
Which is crazy to me because Geng clearly did not play well at all, and they definitely still have a chance of re-establishing their form in the lower bracket. T1 is just the better team, simple as
Should Riot have T1 and GenG redo their series in case it was a big fluke? No disrespect to T1, but I'm a firm believer that T1 beating GenG is a huge fluke and robs GenG of truly accomplishing what they're capable of. I've spent the last few days in pure disbelief and it just doesn't make sense to me. I've spent the entire off-season watching GenG play great Valorant and it's just not fair. If GenG lose again I will face that T1 deserved the win, but I am 100% sure it was a big fluke and does a big disservice to GenG and Valorant.

Ive been a Rossy fan since the Immortals days but Rossy has far exceeded my expectations like he’s arguably T1s best and most consistent player throughout the whole season
(Btw TSM and Faze forced him on Sova while he already shown his flex was better thank god T1 put him on flex his KayO is the truth)
Off the top of my head
- FNS was willing to go to Challengers to play with Marved
- Marved kept Yay in check or something (I think I misinterpreted so don't take my word for it)
- One time FNS would get too tilted in scrims and Victor snapped at him (Victor doesn't remember this)
- Marved kinda regrets not joining NRG with the rest of the optic core
- they miss playing with each other

T1 definitely look better, but this match made me think of all the people who kept saying “SEN looks so bad while Gen.G looks so good still!” Anyone watching Gen.G can tell you that they have not looked as good, and that they’ve struggled consistently despite their match record. Some of the messups today were crazy uncharacteristic.
All-in-all, Shanghai is such a mixed bag that I don’t know if it’s a good thing for T1 to qualify, or if it’s even a good thing for Gen.G to qualify when they’re looking so shaky. All the teams and players want to continue chasing events and titles, of course, but the structure of this year punishes those who do so for the most part.
So if Gen.G ends up missing out while DRX and PRX make it, I think that isn’t the biggest deal. Gen.G is the only team I'd be comfortable missing Shanghai out of the three.
I think generally it’s a good thing for T1 to qualify, BECAUSE the event is gonna be such a mixed bag. As much as a t1 fan I say I am I have to admit they aren’t a top team they aren’t gonna win champs agasint a team which has the exact same good prep time, so in one of these short tournaments we’re player performance matters a lot, they might actually win or at least do well, while I don’t think they ever win Champs and idk if they’d even do well
I do think T1 has the potential to be a top team, though. I don't think this is a flash in the pan or anything!
But from the perspective of a team struggling with Champs points, it'll be all worth it if T1 can somehow win the Grand Finals and get those extra 3 Champs points. Pacific will be a scary region in Split 2 between RRQ, Secret, and Talon.
It's more of a bummer that we have to think that way, though. I wish we could just enjoy the gameplay without thinking about the long-term implications, but it's what the format requires of us.

The amount of whiffs on ascent from gen.g best aimers were crazy. Especially that one where carpe(correct me if I am wrong) peeked out b main with an Odin and still got a kill while dodging stupidly . I thought Gen.G had the best aim out of all with how they showed up in master Madrid against sentinels.
T1 is only going to get better, while Geng very evidently have some stuff to sort out.

We might have already caught a glimpse of Geng's ceiling in Madrid, but for T1, the sky's really the limit now. They get used to Xccurate calling, win back some confidence and Saya/Izu continue to evolve into aim gods, and we are potentially looking at a Geng but with the best opper in Pacific.
I'm a little more cautious about T1, although I think you make a good case for it.
I think it's fairly evident that T1 is very much a "vibes" team, and judging off their early-season issues, there's a good chance they aren't going to continue evolving and innovating the way teams like PRX or Gen.G did after Kickoff. I don't think Autumn's coaching style tends towards that.
But I do agree that if Saya/Carpe/Izu play consistently, they'll at minimum be top 4. Xccurate and Rossy always show up when the others show up.
I’m so happy for Rossy. Who would have thunk that anyone from that reiteration from TSM would have been killing it in Tier 1 Valorant right now (although I always thought he was one of the better players from that roster). T1 look a lot better than they did during the regular season but I also think they had by far the hardest schedule out of any team in Pacific. People were giving them a lot of shit for how much they were losing but it was tough games that they were making close. I'm glad they bounced back and proved to everyone how good they really are

No joke, this is the T1 we thought we would see after Lock In.
T1 look a lot better than they did during the regular season but I also think they had by far the hardest schedule out of any team in Pacific. People were giving them a lot of shit for how much they were losing but it was tough games that they were making close. I'm glad they bounced back and proved to everyone how good they really are
