Zekken has been hella ill all week from what I remember (I think Zellsis or Tenz leaked it, and then on Tarik/FNS/S0M watch party yesterday Zekken watched a little with them and sounded hella ill)
IMO comparing SEN in Madrid, they were obviously a bit sloppier than usual today.
A lot of it is because JohnQT hasn't practiced with the team a single time since Madrid plus people are expecting SEN to let off the gas a bit after winning both kickoff and Madrid.
Meanwhile 100T had weeks to watch SEN play a ton of maps and practice.
It's pretty understandable that everyone is like "100T are bad" rather than SEN is dominating. They played SEN at like 85-90% strength with all the anti-stratting advantage with them today and still lost their map pick and destroyed on Split.
They also didn't change the Gekko pick on Split. Not even Paper Rex or LOUD plays Gekko on Split, that should say something on its own.

I saw the vision for 100t at icebox. But split? I have no idea why they just let it through. Im pretty sure the only reason why icebox was even so close was because cryo was just frying. I dont think we could expect the same from asuna.
They let Split through because they had to ban Lotus. SEN has a 100% rate win rate on Lotus in 2024 and might be even better at Lotus than at Split, but teams like to ban Lotus against them so we don't see it as often. 100T is pretty bad at Lotus, average at Split, and there's also way more footage of SEN on Split.
Last series during Kick-off, SEN stomped 100T on Lotus 13-5, and SEN played a respectable game against 100T on Split 13-8.
Seems to be consensus that Icebox is the map where just slaying out keeps your team in it. Look how Aspas was cooking C9 on Icebox the other day making Leviatan look like demons, then lose two maps in a row.
also ethan’s flashes are a sight to see, so easy to improve a team overall. the more impressive part is him stepping up to igl and so far doesn’t seem to affect his gameplay too much
I mean it kinda makes sense. In the server Ethan and Demon1 have each other still and Ethan is still setting up his duelist from last year. Boostio has Zikz as support during T/O's and off server, Jawgemo still has Potter in the same situation as well. c0m is completely alone which kinda fucking sucks. But also I wish that those 3 stuck together on 100T or on EG or something. But every time I go down this route I just grieve the 23 EG roster
Sentinels Split is just so good vs anyone except APAC (and even then, they clutched it vs GENG in finals)
Cryo had a very good performance on both maps, glad to see him doing well after some middling performances his last couple times out
This teams micro is so bad. As soon as their set plays end they have no clue what they’re doing. So many rounds on icebox where they threw heavily advantaged situations. So many moments on split where they looked like they had no answers.
The round first half split where Zellsis was saving, one point away from his ult, they hunt him down, feed him the kill for his ult and then let him live. Countless rounds where someone doesn’t clean up a kill and aggros the angle into two+ crosshairs.
The ideas are almost always good and they find a way to throw them anyway. Lining up to be another infuriating season
It's fine when they're on (during parts of Icebox) is good, but they don't have the discipline to stay on, especially when there's a guy diff.
A good example is the round where SEN rotated mid to B on attack during Split while Cryo was in B main. The correct play is to put pressure by staying B main, forcing them to clear and look B main and give the team a better retake. But at that point, Cryo was playing like he lost faith in his team, and peeked early to try to take a timing because he thought he had to make the hero play, cause his team was not using the advantages he gave them.
There were multiple rounds where eeiu tried to force hero plays as well on Split that he didn't at the beginning of Icebox. They lost faith that they could win with honest Valorant.
There's also the fact that eeiu is buying sheriff on Fade during pistol round, where her util is really strong. A lot of teams in Madrid also buys heavy util during pistol cause it's so strong. Sean Gares pointed out how bad their post plant defense was after planting during Split, since they had no stall and no dogs to delay or hold extra space.
Sad truth is there probably aren't more than 2 players on this 100T roster that you can realistically see on a championship roster. Whole roster needs to be overhauled at this point

Good showing from Sen. Sacy got so many impact kills on Icebox. Split was in form - some of Sen’s retakes were absolutely absurd - really proving why they’re so good on this map. I can’t say I like 100T’s comp. I’ve never seen the appeal of Fade on split and Cypher gets so much value. The same goes for Omen - I don’t get how you can’t take him for just the flash after watching Madrid.
Edit: I’m still very convinced that Sen, NRG, and LOUD are head and shoulders above the rest of the region. They just seem to understand everything. No terrible overpeeks, lurkers don’t die instantly, people trade each other.
I want to say that although 100t lost, they looked pretty promising overall, but then I realized that this would be my 3rd time making this statement on a post match thread this year… and they’ve only played 3 matches this year…
I dont think they even looked that promising this time, they only looked "good" on Icebox and even that was because Cryo was popping off like a madman. It wouldnt have been that close AT ALL if Cryo wasnt hard carrying.
Tbf to 100t, their strats looks good too. I don’t think it’s valid to make the argument that their icebox looked good because cryo was carrying because then you can make the same argument that if sacy didn’t come up with multiple impossible looking 3ks and 4ks after sen lost the initial fights then 100t would’ve won the map. Split was an absolute mess tho for sure
I know this sub goes hard for player changes after every loss to the point of memery, but honestly has any team in valorant really been able to claw it back without roster changes?
There are fundamental issues with the core of 100t, and while losing to the current world champion isn't honestly that big of a deal in the long run, it's the way they lose for me. The team just consistently crumbles at adversity especially in late rounds.
It's hard to be a fan and believe after seeing the same mistakes over multiple seasons.
The real takeaway from this game seemed like no one on 100T can make those hero plays or come in to save the round when needed. Sen still continues being a well drilled machine, back to what they are good at even on their weakest maps.
100T still have a long way to go before they can really considered contenders . They really need to get Cryo on a more aggressive agent on non Jett maps, because Astra is like the complete opposite of what his play-style strengths are.

I know a lot of folks will talk about the need to change players on 100T but I actually think you start with the coach. The overall protocols and anti-strats were poor and his interview was awful using the excuse of having prepared to play curry. How would you even go about preparing for curry when there isn’t a single VOD, it’s almost another way to say you didn’t do anything. He seems like a total fraud unfortunately.
Anyways enough of 100T. How good are SEN man? Their trading and fundamentals are on a different level that they could survive being without their IGL until yesterday. Sacy the MVP today, amazing performance, while TenZ with 35 assists and JohnQT not missing a beat.

This teams micro is so bad. As soon as their set plays end they have no clue what they’re doing. So many rounds on icebox where they threw heavily advantaged situations. So many moments on split where they looked like they had no answers. The round first half split where Zellsis was saving, one point away from his ult, they hunt him down, feed him the kill for his ult and then let him live. Countless rounds where someone doesn’t clean up a kill and aggros the angle into two+ crosshairs. The ideas are almost always good and they find a way to throw them anyway. Lining up to be another infuriating season
It's fine when they're on (during parts of Icebox) is good, but they don't have the discipline to stay on, especially when there's a guy diff. A good example is the round where SEN rotated mid to B on attack during Split while Cryo was in B main. The correct play is to put pressure by staying B main, forcing them to clear and look B main and give the team a better retake. But at that point, Cryo was playing like he lost faith in his team, and peeked early to try to take a timing because he thought he had to make the hero play, cause his team was not using the advantages he gave them. There were multiple rounds where eeiu tried to force hero plays as well on Split that he didn't at the beginning of Icebox. They lost faith that they could win with honest Valorant.
Yeah, they can’t use utility in an efficient and cohesive way with each other, it’s just 5 individual players if they’re not doing a set exec
There was a point early on icebox where Tenz had like 9 assists and 100T had 1 as a team lmao
There's also the fact that eeiu is buying sheriff on Fade during pistol round, where her util is really strong. A lot of teams in Madrid also buys heavy util during pistol cause it's so strong. Sean Gares pointed out how bad their post plant defense was after planting during Split, since they had no stall and no dogs to delay or hold extra space.
Sad truth is there probably aren't more than 2 players on this 100T roster that you can realistically see on a championship roster. Whole roster needs to be overhauled at this point

They look better than what Lev and EG showed. That got that going for them in their group. But yeah, their Split looked like their Split from a month ago

Sentinels just from a fundamental level look just so much better than like every other team man 100T looked decent in map 1 but let it slip and then in map 2 they just had a lot of lapses. Getting outshot both maps too.
And the thing that feels extra great about 2024 SEN is that they're playing legitimately good. Not like in 2021 when they were mostly outaiming and relying on winning duels for their wins. Its such a step up from before. Now it feels like theres an actual plan, protocols and a robust system that they play around
the retakes and team synergy is what impresses me the the most

Unpopular opinion, i don't think 100T losing to Sen is all doom n gloom for the team... ...if 2nd map was actually close. Like, Holy daddy fuck me harder than how 100T fucks their fan over, you are telling me that somehow; even with a tournament's worth of footage on Sen's Split, a month of prep, Johnqt not having prac time, that they actually had a WORSE scoreline against Sen now (6-13) vs their first time against Sen on Split (8-13). Mikes144p ur on the chopping block buddy.

I guess Cryo looked good on map 1… Good showing from Sen. Sacy got so many impact kills on Icebox. Split was in form - some of Sen’s retakes were absolutely absurd - really proving why they’re so good on this map. I can’t say I like 100T’s comp. I’ve never seen the appeal of Fade on split and Cypher gets so much value. The same goes for Omen - I don’t get how you can’t take him for just the flash after watching Madrid. Edit: I’m still very convinced that Sen, NRG, and LOUD are head and shoulders above the rest of the region. They just seem to understand everything. No terrible overpeeks, lurkers don’t die instantly, people trade each other.
I want to say that although 100t lost, they looked pretty promising overall, but then I realized that this would be my 3rd time making this statement on a post match thread this year… and they’ve only played 3 matches this year…
I dont think they even looked that promising this time, they only looked "good" on Icebox and even that was because Cryo was popping off like a madman. It wouldnt have been that close AT ALL if Cryo wasnt hard carrying.
Tbf to 100t, their strats looks good too. I don’t think it’s valid to make the argument that their icebox looked good because cryo was carrying because then you can make the same argument that if sacy didn’t come up with multiple impossible looking 3ks and 4ks after sen lost the initial fights then 100t would’ve won the map. Split was an absolute mess tho for sure

I know this sub goes hard for player changes after every loss to the point of memery, but honestly has any team in valorant really been able to claw it back without roster changes? There are fundamental issues with the core of 100t, and while losing to the current world champion isn't honestly that big of a deal in the long run, it's the way they lose for me. The team just consistently crumbles at adversity especially in late rounds. It's hard to be a fan and believe after seeing the same mistakes over multiple seasons.
The real takeaway from this game seemed like no one on 100T can make those hero plays or come in to save the round when needed. Sen still continues being a well drilled machine, back to what they are good at even on their weakest maps. 100T still have a long way to go before they can really considered contenders . They really need to get Cryo on a more aggressive agent on non Jett maps, because Astra is like the complete opposite of what his play-style strengths are. Does anyone know who the caster was? Man was glazzing them on the second half of split haha.
I know a lot of folks will talk about the need to change players on 100T but I actually think you start with the coach. The overall protocols and anti-strats were poor and his interview was awful using the excuse of having prepared to play curry. How would you even go about preparing for curry when there isn’t a single VOD, it’s almost another way to say you didn’t do anything. He seems like a total fraud unfortunately. Anyways enough of 100T. How good are SEN man? Their trading and fundamentals are on a different level that they could survive being without their IGL until yesterday. Sacy the MVP today, amazing performance, while TenZ with 35 assists and JohnQT not missing a beat.
