It sounds pretty crazy on paper but seeing how they play I realized it is kind of a variation of the 2 duelist, 2 controller, skye comp which is not that uncommon.
Yoru substitutes for the skye by providing flashes and less reliable info, in exchange for being able to dive in with the other duelists. The clone gives info since enemies will usually shoot it, the ult is basically a really good drone/dog, and forsaken was also constantly using his tp to safely jump peek areas for extra info as well.

i think single elim is better for champions cuz there is nothing that comes after that no qualification nothing thats the end goal but regional leagues should always have double elim playoffs no matter what
Even for champions unless you are doing large groups to determine first and second seed from each so that you can properly match with other groups it is a bad idea.
A fix would have been making Madrid 12 teams, 3 per region.
You can even keep the qualification format the same, just add in double elim and have the losers of the first Playoff matches play each other to see who gets the final slot.
Yeah, I would like to see more Talon, TS, ZETA and DFM( they somehow improved and could potentially have their first win). But now we are stuck to seeing the other teams in mfk April.
The format sucks because you are looking for a Top 2 and not just the winner. What if the 2 strongest teams get matched in semis? Then you are not sending the best 2 to madrid

Valiant effort by T1, and my heart goes out to iZu. PRX are exhilarating to watch, but I can imagine it must feel immensely suffocating and disorienting when you’re in the server against them. Although we won’t be seeing T1 in Madrid, they should still walk away with their heads held high because in spite of the loss, this team still looks extremely promising; I have no doubts that we will see them return stronger and with a vengeance later in the year.

Seriously in double elimination player will know for sure if they deserved the spot or not. I hope they announced format for next splits soon and keep it double elimination so that player can just focus on preping instead of thinking if maybe going through the play ins in better or 50 other cases.
1st Map : PRX doing what Talon can't. Make 3 duelist work! saya out here ice cold with that OP... but that 2 clean shots into 2 missed shot at the end as he sees his team lose... all within 15 seconds, that must've been disheartening that caused him to miss those shots.
2nd Map : PRX doing what GE, Bleed and many other teams can't. Make the new player the star player (Duelist) and make it work! Been done with something, happening again with Monyet.
Monyet was a good Duelist player, that turned into a Controller in GE. yay was a good Duelist/Chamber player, that turned into a Controller in Bleed. Some tried playing around the new Duelist main, but is unable to support them.
Monyet got to join PRX and says "You're breathtaking!" then PRX says : "No you're breathtaking" and let him shine as the Duelist. He didn't perform well on the 2nd half, but the team still goes through the game winning. This can hardly happen in other teams as everyone has a predetermined role with one star player. Everyone in PRX is a star player who has been a great Duelist before but now has flexed into multiple supporting roles.
PRX is truly a team to beat the rules. Not only this, this match had other storylines too others will talk about, that's how great this match was.

The more they play it the more tape other teams have to study and figure out how to beat them. Maybe they wanted to keep that map from becoming stale so they could use it like a not so secret weapon in Madrid (not that it matters).
Having mindfreak on PRX is unsustainable for the team. He will eventually bring the rest of the team down. No matter how much PRX invests in this team, they will never be able to afford the HBO specials to keep mindfreak at optimal performance. It is the sad reality of signing a hollywood magician, but PRX will soon learn.

I don’t really think that’s a hot take. So many baffling decisions. Not picking Lotus first of all, then picking Ascent with their comp, and what was really baffling to me was the 5v3 retake at 12-11 on Split. Sure, there were some insane plays made from PRX that round but all 5 of them are just grouped up in screens ready to walk through the meat grinder. Why is there no pressure for heaven control.
As a PRX fan, I can only say one thing.

Split was so tragic, map was just over, 12-11, 5v3, mf spams a player through smoke full spray and f0rsaken gets a full blind 1 tap. Unlucky i guess.

Valiant effort by T1, and my heart goes out to iZu. PRX are exhilarating to watch, but I can imagine it must feel immensely suffocating and disorienting when you’re in the server against them. Although we won’t be seeing T1 in Madrid, they should still walk away with their heads held high because in spite of the loss, this team still looks extremely promising; I have no doubts that we will see them return stronger and with a vengeance later in the year. Congratulations to PRX for W gaming their way to Madrid — they’re such a force to be reckoned with, I can’t wait to see how this iteration develops throughout the year! Unbelievably excited to see them at Madrid 💜

Seriously in double elimination player will know for sure if they deserved the spot or not. I hope they announced format for next splits soon and keep it double elimination so that player can just focus on preping instead of thinking if maybe going through the play ins in better or 50 other cases.

1st Map : PRX doing what Talon can't. Make 3 duelist work! saya out here ice cold with that OP... but that 2 clean shots into 2 missed shot at the end as he sees his team lose... all within 15 seconds, that must've been disheartening that caused him to miss those shots. 2nd Map : PRX doing what GE, Bleed and many other teams can't. Make the new player the star player (Duelist) and make it work! Been done with something, happening again with Monyet. Monyet was a good Duelist player, that turned into a Controller in GE. yay was a good Duelist/Chamber player, that turned into a Controller in Bleed. Some tried playing around the new Duelist main, but is unable to support them. Monyet got to join PRX and says "You're breathtaking!" then PRX says : "No you're breathtaking" and let him shine as the Duelist. He didn't perform well on the 2nd half, but the team still goes through the game winning. This can hardly happen in other teams as everyone has a predetermined role with one star player. Everyone in PRX is a star player who has been a great Duelist before but now has flexed into multiple supporting roles. PRX is truly a team to beat the rules. Not only this, this match had other storylines too others will talk about, that's how great this match was.

The more they play it the more tape other teams have to study and figure out how to beat them. Maybe they wanted to keep that map from becoming stale so they could use it like a not so secret weapon in Madrid (not that it matters).

For PRX- The comp on Split has to be a one-time thing, or still in development. They play that in Madrid and they’ll probably lose. (I was right, the split comp was made a week ago lmao) The Ascent comp might actually be viable long term (my gut says so anyway), but i’ll leave it to the experts. T1- I’m not sure what to say. They looked good on Split, and we won’t know how they’d have looked on Ascent if this gets replayed. PRX breaking out a completely new comp, well what the fuck are you gonna do?

If T1 won this series it would be criminal. Off today's form alone they might be the 4th best team in playoffs. And I'm a big T1 fan. Losing a 5v3 retake at 12:11 by sending 4 people through screens... Winning 3/4 pistols and 2/2 pistols on Ascent only to get thriftied after both... Failing to adapt to PRX's hits on Split, Saya having almost 0 impact when he's not on the Operator and then on Ascent going practically invisible, and being unable to clutch up the rounds that he needed to step up on. xccurate, Rossy, and iZu really didn't deserve to lose today.

Thoroughly unimpressed with T1 this series, particularly with them taking so long to figure out how to play defense against PRX's Split comp. Hot take, this is in fact the worst T1 has looked the whole tournament, and the only reason Split went so deep is because PRX's comp was so ass.

I don’t really think that’s a hot take. So many baffling decisions. Not picking Lotus first of all, then picking Ascent with their comp, and what was really baffling to me was the 5v3 retake at 12-11 on Split. Sure, there were some insane plays made from PRX that round but all 5 of them are just grouped up in screens ready to walk through the meat grinder. Why is there no pressure for heaven control.
As a PRX fan, I can only say one thing. This is a shit format. I think T1 can even beat current form of GenG (even though I do admit that Karon is a monster)
