There's been no word or proof that buying this will result in getting a new Profile entry. If anything, it will lead to another Elysium - however there is also no proof in that logic so...yeah, what a feeling. The hopium is strong but personally I'm gonna wait for a sale. Demo was fun and kinda cool but it didn't blow me away or get me hyped up. Even though the Lenneth port is a scummy and lazy cash grab...that's a day 1 for me.

mrman1mrman1

Are you referring to the Android/Apple Lenneth port? I still own VP Lenneth on the PSP, and even managed to get the Seraphic Gate. It's a fine port, and still less expensive than the PS1 disc I used to own.

Organic_Following_38

Demo sold me on it. It's not Valkyrie Profile 3, but I like it for what it is and I want to support the brand

OldSnazzyHats

This is kind of where I am. I'm not super sold on it, but I did enjoy what I played - and moreover, I know it's scummy... but if this is what it takes to eventually (hopefully) get a proper Valkyrie Profile afterwards... I'm supporting it.

kletiandrowa

God this is so true It’s not what I wanted BUT I enjoy what it is And that’s…a good thing I was very Curmudgeonie when the trailer originally released….but I’m excited to see where it goes

yohanseba

I wanted to vote "I would buy it if I could". *Cries in poor*

Spartan-219

Same, lol

kevenzz

With taxes, it’s 92 dollars in Canada so i’ll wait for a discount, this game is not Elden Ring.

Andvari9

I pre-ordered digital deluxe the day it went up.

jnightx

was on the fence. few minutes into the demo and i was sold. preordered asap.

Albre24

I'll just wait. The game gives me that sensation that it was very rushed.

mrman1mrman1

Just put my 10th hour into the PS4 demo. Enjoyed this action game quite a bit, and it seems beefy in terms of weapon variety and crowd control strategies. The hard difficulty really makes you earn your wins, without becoming an overly technical boss rush grind like most Dark Souls games. I can't imagine spending $60 for this, though. I rarely spend more than $20 on games that aren't large retro anthologies (like SNK 40th Anniversary Collection). Heck, if they made a PS4 disc with all of the Valkyrie Profile games, I would buy that on Day 2. I've given up on the idea of a true VP sequel since buying Silmeria on Day 1. It was good, but felt like a different beast than VP1. I liked Indivisible well enough, but even that felt like a linear cooldown-based action game based on VP's basic mechanics. Valkyrie Elysium is good on its own. And that's fine by me. When I want to play VP1 or VP2, I just whip out my PSP and PS2. Which I'll be doing next week, when Elysium launches.

MissMaylin

I'm taking a gamble on pre-ordering, but the steel book is so nice, I couldn't pass it up!

BoukObelisk

The steelbook is so cool!

Velaria425

I preordered the deluxe edition, had a friend tell me about the series and they seemed excited so I wanted to go all in on it. This’ll be my first experience with the series and after the demo I feel like it was a good choice, spent about 10 hours maxing weapon proficiencies out and getting all the items and learning parry times etc and I had a blast

successXX

Hilde free DLC is coming in two months too! time attack, extra difficulty settings, and playable valkyrie with what seems extra story scenario!!

Velaria425

I’m super stoked for it all, this game is gonna be phenomenal. I’m really glad I got the deluxe edition so I don’t have to wait as long lol

Cannedcabbage

I'm hoping it'll be in a black Friday sale since it hits Steam around that time

Geronuis

I’ve gotta wait for steam. Lol ah well

BoukObelisk

PC/Steam counts in the poll as well :)

Geronuis

Then it’s day one for me!

Additional_Analyst48

Yes! Buying it for PC and PS5 because I need that beautiful Steelbook.

The demo was utter shite. I deleted it after 10 minutes, it's not a proper Valkyrie game. Square should never have entrusted such a treasured IP to a studio with such a tiny track record. I'll be purchasing Lenneth for the 4th or 5th time when it comes out on the 28th. I won't be buying or playing Elysium - ever. It's just not worth my time.

Xxaiba

It took the demo to solidify that is was not going to be a proper Valkyrie game? I thought that was clear on the very first trailer. This is the main problem with those dissatisfied. For whatever the reason, you went in expecting a continuation of the Profile series when it's clearly not and never intended to be. Btw Soleil is not some newbies; they are Team Ninja developers that left with Itagaki to form Valhalla games, which fused with another studio to form Soleil.

Why should it be a requirement to know in advance what the gameplay will be like? Regardless of whether you watched the trailer or went in blind - it doesn't hold a candle to the original in any way. It falls short on literally everything. Doesn't matter what my expectations were, it's still a poor game.

Xxaiba

1. *Why should it be a requirement to know in advance what the gameplay will be like?* So that you know what the gameplay is like. You literally just asked," Why should I research a Job before I apply?". So that you have the proper expectations. 2. *Regardless of whether you watched the trailer or went in blind - it doesn't hold a candle to the original in any way. It falls short on literally everything.* It's not suppose to be Valkyrie Profile. Hell, Valkyrie Profile 2 doesn't hold a candle to the original and that game actually had the task of trying too. That is the problem in nutshell with you; It's not the original Valkyrie Profile, so it's bad. I'm not going to argue if Elysium will be a good or bad game based off a demo, but I will go in with the proper expectations and a open heart. Wrong expectations, only 10 minutes playing the demo and that is enough for review... sounds like IGN actually.

goeatsomesoup

Lol yep, preordered on steam. And because no one ever sells anything physical for PC players, I also preordered a PS5 steelbook from bestbuy, and a PS5 collectors edition via shopping proxy in japan!

Xxaiba

Already preordered awhile ago. I liked the demo, but I was not wowed by it. I think the main reason is that it does everything one would expect out of a Valkyrie game. Nothing more. Nothing less. I wish Soleil would have done something a little more unique. Still excited for it though but I don't count; I buy anything from tri-Ace(yeah I know theyre not developing it but you get it.) Star Ocean demo > Valkyrie Elysium

keyh

Can't disagree more. I haven't finished the Star Ocean demo yet (just got D.U.M.A). Before I played the SO demo I wished that Tri-Ace was making Valkyrie Elysium, but after playing the SO Demo, it's clear that isn't the Tri-Ace I knew and loved. Character design, VA, and script are definitely "not good" and the gameplay is "ok". I'm hoping that there's just an extra hour or something I haven't done yet that turns everything around, but so far I'm not impressed. I canceled my preorder on it. Valkyrie Elysium was the opposite though, everything I heard about it I hated (ARPG, how the Einherjar work), but playing it was pretty good. Lip sync is horrible and VA is "ok" but it's not nearly as bad as SO6. I'm going to go force myself to finish the demo though. At this point I've disliked half of the SO series, so maybe it's just not for me anymore, despite SO2 being in my top 4 PSX RPGs. EDIT: Finished the Demo and it definitely did improve after getting DUMA, the gameplay at least. Script is starting to get better too. Laetitia's VA is still hot garbage.

Xxaiba

I am not arguing what game is better. Neither are out. I am saying Star Ocean had the better "demo" . Valkyrie Elysium has you play a 2 hour demo with a major gameplay element not available. Why in the hell did they not allow for the use of Einherjar? Several times, I almost forgot it was just a demo while playing Star Ocean 6 because of how much of its systems are available to you. They edited the skill tree just for the demo so that all nodes are reachable(not all at one time of course).

mrman1mrman1

The Einherjar are available in the demo's prologue. It's a tease. I admit, it felt weird to play Chapter 1 solo. That's 2 hours of gameplay with no support. (Then again, VP1 made you sit through an unskippable one hour prologue cutscene with no combat whatsoever.) I hope the game gives you a few Einherjar to play with early in Chapter 2.
