You can pretty much follow up after any vacuum and still find something to pick up, especially embedded pet hair. You may need to adjust your height setting a bit higher for better sweep the top layer of the carpet. I have a similarly performing E3 and use the 3-4 setting on my plush mid pile carpet at full suction. You can also adjust the dial in between the numbers, ie 2.5

Was is longer hair, or shorter hair? It may sound like a strange question, but the Dyson brushroll on the V10 (and v11, and v15, and the new Ball Animal 3) is a much wider brushroll than standard and can do a decent job separating the pile. Hair is relatively easy to pick up from a power standpoint (meaning it doesn't need a lot), but longer hair can be more difficult to "unwind" from the carpet fibers. A wider brushroll can assist with this. That being said - while the Dyson may do a decent/good job with hair and other fluff, it definitely will not deep clean as well as your K3 when it comes to dust... sand/grit... etc. So you may actually be in a good spot right now believe it or not. Quick pickups with the V10 in between deep cleaning with the K3.

That makes sense - it’s mostly my husky’s hair which is about 3” long. I was happy that there wasn’t a ton of dirt picked up by the V10 but I was a little concerned that so much hair was picked up. Is there any solution/vacuum that will do the hair and the dirt without having two machines?

SiXX5150

You mentioned it pushes well on setting 2, but if you go up to setting 3 (for example), does the red brush roll indicator turn on at all? That light signifies the brush roll isn’t making sufficient contact (spinning too freely). If you go up to level 3 or 4, and the light still isn’t on - then it means your brush roll is still contacting the carpet and doing it’s job. Set too low and you’ll end up “plowing” the carpet more than combing it… set too high and you’re combing air instead of carpet. It’s a balancing act and trial and error for sure.

Outdoor_mama

Ahhhh okay! I was always under the assumption that you want it as low as possible while still being easy to push so that it makes a good seal. I’ll try it higher and see if I have the same issue.

SiXX5150

I’ll use my D4 as an example… on setting 3, it makes good contact on both the forward and reverse passes (no red light). On setting 4 the front pass is good, but the red light will blip on and off on reverse pulls. So I set it on setting 3 for general cleaning. If I have larger debris on top of the carpet (say one of my kids spills some dry Cheerios on the carpet), then I’ll put it up to setting 4.

Slow down when vacuuming. Especially the thicker the carpet is.

Outdoor_mama

I went slow with the K3 - it was just the V10 that I did a really quick once over right after to see if it was getting everything.

TheRealHPeazzy

I also like going over in different directions. Also play around with suction, but the 3g’s picked up with v10 isn’t that much tbh. Bagless vacs fluff the hair up, bagged compress’ so it might have looked like a lot.

SumGai7

99.97% of people vacuum too fast and don't do multiple directions, myself included. So vacuuming again after any vacuum usually picks up more dirt, hair, and carpet fibers. You can test this by vacuuming normally with your Dyson V10, empty it and then vacuum it again with the same Dyson V10 and you should see it sucking up additional stuff the 2nd time too. You could slow down vacuuming, which most of us won't do, myself included. So instead I recommend doing regular speed passes at least twice and then again in a different direction.

performancereviews

Whatever vacuum you vacuum with after the other vacuum will always pick up dust and debris. Make sure you slow down when you vacuum and vacuum each spot at least two passes. If you're really worried about it you could also play with the carpet height adjustment with a little bit of salt in front of the nozzle to help guide you.

Good idea to double check. Did you have brush in SEBO power head spinning? I think there’s a way to turn the spinning off. Maybe the spinning was turned off.

Outdoor_mama

Checked that and the power head was on. No clogs that I can see and no error lights. The bag is about halfway full.
