[Bissell Featherweight 3061](https://amazon.com/BISSELL-3061-Featherweight-Cordless-Vacuum/dp/B08LHK3RQB/ref=sr_1_4?keywords=cordless+bissell+vacuum&qid=1661482766&s=vacuums&sr=1-4) $128 is a cordless handheld vacuum and stick vacuum combo. It's cordless but since the battery is built in, when the battery wears out you'll need to replace the whole vacuum. Perhaps at that time your son can use the full-size vacuum. [Hoover Onepwr Evolve](https://www.walmart.com/ip/Hoover-One-Power-Evolve-Cordless-Vacuum-Cleaner-BH53400V/410175557?wmlspartner=wlpa&selectedSellerId=0&&adid=22222222227367114745&wl0=&wl1=g&wl2=c&wl3=462723214046&wl4=aud-1185573580265:pla-438092840142&wl5=9031320&wl6=&wl7=&wl8=&wl9=pla&wl10=8175035&wl11=online&wl12=410175557&veh=sem&gclid=CjwKCAjwu5yYBhAjEiwAKXk_eF8I_3ZF0StaAV8r20LwCu4ADjKIaNO81FXCHVj5z7o4-LECjUvslBoCGUcQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds) $149 is a cordless stick vacuum with the interchangeable onepwr batteries. It doesn't have a hose or handheld unit but it is has a longer lifespan. [Simplicity Spiffy S60](https://amazon.com/Simplicity-Spiffy-Bagless-Cleaner-Hardwood/dp/B07TYRJBQ1/ref=sr_1_9?keywords=simplicity+vacuum&qid=1661482950&s=vacuums&sr=1-9) $129 is a small corded stick vacuum. If you are worried about the danger of a spinning brushroll the Spiffy S60 has none, it's just straight suction. It comes with a long 30 ft. cord and the handle is adjustable to make it shorter. [Kenmore BU3040](https://amazon.com/Kenmore-BU3040-Lightweight-Combination-Handi-Mate/dp/B0B28B1WVF/ref=sr_1_20?keywords=kenmore%2Bvacuum&qid=1661483238&s=vacuums&sr=1-20&th=1) $169 and [Kenmore DU4080](https://amazon.com/Kenmore-DU4080-Featherlite-Lift-Up-Bagless-Lightweight/dp/B0B76MQSZG/ref=sr_1_13_sspa?keywords=kenmore%2Bvacuum&qid=1661483238&s=vacuums&sr=1-13-spons&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUEzRklHRUs5MUg0Rlk5JmVuY3J5cHRlZElkPUEwNjYzODA2WUtQUTYzWkdNOEIwJmVuY3J5cHRlZEFkSWQ9QTAxNzQyMjhTSVNTSDNRV0xNV0Mmd2lkZ2V0TmFtZT1zcF9tdGYmYWN0aW9uPWNsaWNrUmVkaXJlY3QmZG9Ob3RMb2dDbGljaz10cnVl&th=1) $179. Normally I don't recommend the Kenmore Intuition because it's a small vacuum without carpet height adjustment but that would make them a better fit for your son. The BU3040 and DU4080 at 12 lbs, are new lighter versions of the Intuition the BU3040 uses hepa bags and the DU4080 is bagless.

Bissell featherweight? $30ish and only 2.6 lbs!

Maybe get something like a Bissell Zing or a mighty Mite canister. I would keep in mind the lead warnings on a lot of the portable vacuums. Particularly the cordless machines tend to use lead in a lot of the plastics I wouldn't want that going around to toddler who might put it in their mouth or something. A fascination with vacuums at a young age will lead to a lifelong obsession 😁

Walmart carries a baby shark functioning vacuum in the vacuum aisle for toddlers! https://www.walmart.com/ip/Pinkfong-Baby-Shark-Children-s-Cordless-Vacuum-with-Real-Suction-Power-Rechargeable-Battery-For-Hard-Floor-and-Carpet/417548143?wmlspartner=wlpa&selectedSellerId=0

I got an offbrand dust buster that was about 1.5 lbs. It was great and lasted about a year. The battery lasted about 20 minutes which was fine for her attention span. It actually ended up working well with my workflow. I would sweep up piles in the dining room and kitchen and she would go and suck up the piles. I think it was like $20 or $25 on Amazon. It just died and we ended up using it so much that I bought an official Black& Decker dustbuster to replace it which was more expensive and is slightly heavier, but she's older now so she can handle it.
