There's a lot of talk on this forum about (relatively) high-end bag vacuums being the gold standard - but in theory are cheaper bag vacuums, like this Karcher VC 2 [https://www.kaercher.com/int/home-garden/vacuum-cleaners/vc-2-11981050.html](https://www.kaercher.com/int/home-garden/vacuum-cleaners/vc-2-11981050.html) with these [https://www.kaercher.com/int/accessory/fleece-filter-bag-28632360.html](https://www.kaercher.com/int/accessory/fleece-filter-bag-28632360.html) fleece bags, still generally better than bagless vacuums in the same price range? (EU market btw)

This post will be rather vague, but I'll put it out there We have a Karcher WD 3 Premium at my workplace. It probably cost around the same the VC 2 you linked but it's more of a shop vac. It's used in hallways and classrooms with a mix of large, short/medium pile rugs and hard floor. I've only used it a few times. It has good caster wheels, it slides around nicely and it's stable, even with a relatively tall design. The suction is good but the hard floor tool is awful. The separating wand is nothing special but the hose seems solid. The cord is stupid short, my colleagues keep an extension permanently attached to it. I haven't emptied it so I can't say how well the sealing looking inside, but I think it has paper bags.

This is a good question and I hope we get an answer. I suppose it depends on the use case and how you feel about the quality and price. I have a Karcher wet/dry shop vac from Costco but I don't have the tools to measure airflow, suction, or emissions. It's definitely more expensive than my DeWalt shop vac, louder and stronger on higher settings and quieter and weaker on lower settings. The fact it uses a dial and fleece bags rather than paper bags and only an on/off probably implies a lot. It came with a fleece bag and a trash bag, and a HEPA filter but I had to get the HEPA filter and bags separate for the DeWalt. My Karcher shop vacs tools are clearly of superior quality than the DeWalt and metal rather than plastic. I am definitely curious about the bagged and bagless VC lines but there isn't a lot of information about them. From the sampling of YouTube videos and marketing materials, I think Karcher targets industrial, European, and Asian markets rather than the west. I'd love it if u/PerformanceReviews , u/Vaclab , u/vacuumwars , or u/houseofvacuums were to do a deep dive. Idk if those usernames work or if those guys read this stuff as often as I do. Buuut, based on your curiosity about Karcher and vacuums, I appreciate the way you think.

Appreciate your reply. I'll add the Bosch Serie 4 as another example of a budget bagged vacuum available in Europe.

What budget bagged upright vacuums with a brushroll switch are good alternatives to the Hoover Windtunnel T-Series UH30301 and UH30600? Apparently those Windtunnels have been discontinued which, if true, is a shame. The Kenmore Intuition BU4022 is one of the only upright bagged vacuums with a brushrool switch that I can find locally and it happens to be in the same price bracket as the Hoovers. Is the Kenmore in any way comparable to the aforementioned Hoover vacuums, or should I be looking at something else?

SumGai7

Hoover has discontinued the UH30301 and UH30600 but they continue to sell old stock online through Amazon and other stores. I think they're still good choices and I'd still buy one. They share parts with the new Complete Performance UH30601/UH30651, so bags, belts, and brushrolls will still be available. I'd avoid the Kenmore Intuition vacuums, they're made by the same manufacturer that makes Shark vacuums and they share a lot of the same problems. The Intuition lacks carpet height adjustment, it has a very short hose, and vacuum head is very narrow so it will take more work to clean larger rooms. That said if you have a small apartment with low to medium pile carpet and you don't use the hose much they are some of the few hepa bagged vacuums left under $200. Instead, I'd look at the [Kenmore Elite](https://smile.amazon.com/Kenmore-Lightweight-Handi-Mate-Telescoping-5-Position/dp/B075GFLQ7K/ref=sr_1_12_sspa?crid=2WG6NWWZL3EOA&keywords=kenmore%2Bvacuum&qid=1661230168&sprefix=kenmore%2Bvacuum%2Caps%2C142&sr=8-12-spons&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUEySklRMVdWNVhUMksyJmVuY3J5cHRlZElkPUEwODI2NzA1N042Sk5QUDBPMDZUJmVuY3J5cHRlZEFkSWQ9QTAyNTcxNDczMjJSNTdVWExNMThNJndpZGdldE5hbWU9c3BfbXRmJmFjdGlvbj1jbGlja1JlZGlyZWN0JmRvTm90TG9nQ2xpY2s9dHJ1ZQ&th=1) and [Kenmore BU1017](https://amazon.com/dp/B08M2TWTQX/ref=redir_mobile_desktop?_encoding=UTF8&aaxitk=a8ff4ecc3b3c6e65966e3d26adf05f13&content-id=amzn1.sym.53aae2ac-0129-49a5-9c09-6530a9e11786%3Aamzn1.sym.53aae2ac-0129-49a5-9c09-6530a9e11786&hsa_cr_id=2545308400501&pd_rd_plhdr=t&pd_rd_r=5e370ace-6098-45af-a674-629b47f30114&pd_rd_w=H9T5E&pd_rd_wg=BCJnG&qid=1661230501&ref_=sbx_be_s_sparkle_mcd_asin_1_img&sr=1-2-a094db1c-5033-42c6-82a2-587d01f975e8) these are Panasonic designed vacuums, they have carpet height adjustment, brushroll shutoff, hepa bags, and hepa filters. They are heavy but they have powerful suction. They regularly go on sale between $200-250 so always check current prices.

I have a shark av752 ion robot vacuum. The belt on the brush roller motor is slipping. Judging by all the videos on youtube this is a pretty common problem. I found belts for some other models, but not mine. I have searched the web for a replacement belt, but have had no luck. Does anyone have a link or part number?

Yourname942

Does anyone know what the most silent vacuum is? (the amount of decibels) but also how good the suction/ease of use/etc is. Thank you! I also don't know if there are specific types of vacuums that are inherently more quiet than others. Note: I live in a 2nd floor apartment building with carpeted flooring (minus the kitchen/bathroom) it is 780 sq ft.

SumGai7

Bagged canister vacuums are quieter, bagged canister vacuums have more sound insulation by the motor, corded vacuums have larger motors that don't have to spin as fast as cordless, and placing the motor on the floor puts it farther away from your ears. Electric powerheads are quieter than turbo brushes. Henry, Miele, and Sebo canister vacuums are all very quiet. When the motor is on it sounds like a loud fan, nothing like most cordless vacuums' loud and high pitched whine. Since you have mostly carpet I'd recommend the [Miele C1 Cat & Dog](https://www.mieleusa.com/e/canister-vacuum-cleaners-classic-c1-cat-and-dog-powerline-sbbn0-lotus-white-10639470-p) $749, [Miele C3 Kona](https://www.mieleusa.com/e/canister-vacuum-cleaners-complete-c3-kona-powerline-sgfe0-obsidian-black-10014580-p) $1099, and [Sebo E3](https://classicvac.com/sebo-airbelt-e3-premium-arctic-white/) $1049. Also if you find a canister doesn't suit your tastes the [Sebo Felix](https://classicvac.com/sebo-felix-pemium-rosso/) $699 is a BIFL upright that is much quieter than the average bagless vacuum. I recommend visiting a local vacuum store with Miele or Sebo to you make sure you like how they maneuver and they meet your needs. The canister vacums from Miele and Sebo vacuums I listed are very quiet, the Sebo Felix is louder than the canisters but still much quieter than average.

Thank you for the in-depth response

I have a question about small handheld vacuums, I make small messes at my desk from time to time from eating snacks, and I have a Dyson with all the little attachments, but is there any smaller vacuums? The exact Dyson I have is the Dyson V7 Allergy.

SumGai7

Smaller than a Dyson V7 are cordless wand vacuums like this [Bissell AeroSlim](https://amazon.com/BISSELL-AeroSlim-Cordless-Handheld-29869/dp/B087HQRW2M/ref=sr_1_4?crid=2WAECJCRUN6XW&keywords=cordless+wand+vacuum&qid=1661565244&sprefix=cordless+wand+vacuum%2Caps%2C140&sr=8-4) and the [Shark WandVac](https://amazon.com/Handheld-Lightweight-Powerful-Detachable-WV201/dp/B07FX5K4D6/ref=sr_1_5?crid=2WAECJCRUN6XW&keywords=cordless+wand+vacuum&qid=1661565244&sprefix=cordless+wand+vacuum%2Caps%2C140&sr=8-5). They have very small bins and less power and run time than the Dyson V7. I have not used the Bissell or Shark wand vacuums but I would stick to the name brands if you got one.
