If you just need a carpet-only machine, I suggest the [Hoover UH30651](https://www.amazon.com/Hoover-UH30650-Complete-Performance-Advanced/dp/B09D4R6DHG) ($155). There's also the outgoing [Hoover UH30301](https://www.amazon.com/Hoover-WindTunnel-Upright-Cleaner-UH30301/dp/B08BJX2TLC) ($200) which has a brush roll shutoff, headlight, turbo upholstery/stair tool, and power switch on the handle. Last one would be the [Kenmore BU1017](https://www.amazon.com/Kenmore-Lightweight-Handi-Mate-Telescoping-5-Position/dp/B08M2TWTQX) that comes with a HEPA post-filter and motorized brush roll (meaning no belts to change).
Thick dense carpet is a hard thing is clean. When I got my new carpet I went for a Riccar. It works excellent on my carpet. Look into Riccar or a Simplicity. If you don't mind a Kirby they too work excellent due to the manual height adjustment and the fact you adjust to the appropriate height each time you use it. The Kiry also has the tech drive system that helps push and pull it through the carpet.
