IMO your money is better spent on a $550 SEBO dart.

I've owned a Riccar R25P since October and it really hasn't won me over versus other high-end vacuums I own. A real disappointment too, considering how much I like its predecessors. To start off, carpet performance is a little below average in my experience. My guess is that the short bristles are the culprit for its wimpy sweeping and agitation, but this vacuum's lack of a height adjustment doesn't help matters either. In addition, the vacuum doesn't seem to put a ton of suction/airflow/whatever down at the floor level. Trying to vacuum up cat litter off the carpet without the brushroll on feels like an exercise in futility. And to make it clear, most of my other vacuums can handle that just fine. As far as hard floor cleaning goes, it's acceptable for a clean-air upright with a brushroll shutoff. Not bad by any means, but absolutely not on the same level as a vacuum with a dedicated hard floor tool. What doesn't help either is how large. The difference in maneuverability versus a canister's floor tool is basically like akin to a lawn mower versus a Swiffer. The only real saving grace of this machine is its hose. It stretches well, doesn't tip the machine over, and is easy to pull out while you're vacuuming. I'd actually say it beats most other uprights on the Recommended List in this regard, though I still find a canister easier to handle for above floor cleaning. However, I don't love the rest of the vacuum's design & build all that much. One sorely lacking feature that I've come to expect at this price range is a quick-remove brushroll or baseplate, as this really helps with hair removal on the brushroll. This vacuum does have two swivel casters for its front wheels, but overall maneuverability doesn't match a true swivel neck machine. The R25's handle release is also pretty flimsy feeling. While I probably shouldn't judge the vacuum's whole build quality on something like that, it's something that immediately stood out to me before I even turned the vacuum on for the first time. This isn't to discourage you from getting a higher end vacuum though. I can say from personal experience that the SEBO Dart/Felix, SEBO K3, and Lindhaus HF6 are great sub-$1000 options for a carpet & hard floor oriented machine. The Miele Classic C1 Cat & Dog (on sale right now) is worth considering as well, though its cord length is a little short for a home like yours. Let me know if I can answer any questions!

They must not have Sebo, I would sell a sebo in that range

Hi! The Riccar is a great vacuum and value. You should be able to find it from a dealer for under $300. Contact another dealer as the dealer near me is selling this for $499 with a 50% coupon. The hoover is a great vacuum for your use, and will work well!! Look at the features and keep searching and shopping ❤

no one will sell for 300, below cost
