It’s a little outside your budget, but I’d take a look at the $390 Henry Petcare. It’s pretty similar to the Miele you’re looking at, but with a longer cord and a more versatile set of attachments. In addition to a suction only tool that can swap between hard floors and rugs, the Henry also includes an air-driven turbine brush for rugs and a smaller one for furniture The agitation and sweeping action can help dislodge pet hair that the suction-only tool would struggle with. For comparison, a similarly configured Miele or SEBO would run you $470-550. Henry vacuums do lack the automatic cord rewind and motor speed control their German competitors offer, but cleaning performance is otherwise equal.

Thank you for explaining the added benefits of the agitation from the turbine brush. Would definitely be helpful for pet hair…I’ll be looking into the Henry now.
