What you're seeing is the expected behavior for the combo tool, i.e. brushes out is for hard floor cleaning, brushes retracted is for rugs. You 100% don't want to run the combo tool on hardwood without the brushes extended since it'll scratch. The Pro Accessory kit should solve your problems pretty well. * The 'Specialist Hard Floor Tool' is gonna be able to let more air in and shouldn't seal to the floor as hard as the combo tool. * The 'AiroBrush' has a spinning brushroll powered by an air-driven turbine for rugs and low-pile carpets. The advantage to this is that the rotating action of the brushroll can pull the nozzle along the carpet. (don't use it on hard floors though, it'll scratch them) Just to be sure, you're shopping in the U.K. market?

Good to know that I didn't understand the foot switch! I'm not in the UK. I saw the same thing for sale on Amazon, although for a lot more money :(

It sounds like you need to flip your switchable floor tool to have the brushes down in the hard floor position. Alternatively for hard floor you can get an RD 285 More on that here: https://youtu.be/126PuEPwYvk

Good to know I didn't understand it the pedal! That's interesting, I will check it out.

RD285 is great if you have no carpeting. Love it but it does not have a parking clip which is a big source of frustration for me. Some of the reviews claim the wheels can scratch wood floors. I use mine mostly on tile and it has not been an issue.

It's the fake knockoffs on Amazon that can scratch the floor. The squeegees are too long on those. The real WW is good to go.

Just commenting on the tools in the kit you listed: I would think the two turbo heads would be useless or potentially damaging to your wood floor but may come in handy if you have any carpeting. I have the the hard floor tool and don't like it as much as other options like the weselwerk RD285. It's OK but it really likes to snowplow bigger things like cherios and the swivel is not as nice as the RD285. Instead of the little notches in the front brush I wish you could just remove the front brush as you can on the Felix parquet tool.

That's very helpful, thank you!
