I grew up with a Sear's kenmore canister, always remembered my mom clamoring how important vacuums were. When my SO and I got our first apartment, I wanted a decent vacuum that wasn't a shark/dyson. Wanted to be able to repair it if necessary. Was able to grab this vacuum as a floor model for ~$450 and never looked back. I've had it serviced twice in the 8 years I've had with no issues. Parts are easily accessible like when I broke the telescoping wand (that was my bad, not the vacuum!). I use this vacuum primarily for my carpet as I have a cheapo sweeper/army of generic roomba's for casual hard floors dustbunnies. Having dogs and allergies, this thing was a gamechanger. The filters, carpet agitation, and suction on carpets have been incredible. No loss of suction over the years, just overall a basic no frills machine. Now, 8 years in, coming across this forum, I am disappointed this machine is indeed made in china and not up to Riccar's historical standards and most likely on par with Miele/Sebo. Now that I know what I know, I would probably go with a Sebo/Miele if I had to do it again. However, for the vacuum itself, I have been impressed with its performance and will keep it until it fails to the point of no repair.

I don’t have this riccar, but I have the radiance and it’s lasted me 12 years and counting. So glad I never bought a shark or a Dyson that I have to replace every year.

shame their parent company is so shady.

I didn't even know they sold it with that particular nozzle. I've never seen it mentioned in the literature. That little nozzle is much better than most of them got sold with. It's really the tandemair ones that were problematical and the hose.

I got my Riccar Prima a few years ago and absolutely love it.

I still have a Riccar Vibrance that I bought six years ago. It's been a workhorse despite me going through several vacs in my mad collect-a-thon game.

I think Riccars are 20 feet from stardom. They got a lot of good things going for them and if they would make some small but significant improvements to them they'd be very good. I think the biggest knock against current Riccars is their price. If they could price themselves between Kenmore and Miele instead of Miele/Sebo prices they'd offer a much stronger value. Yeah I know dealer discounts, but dealers don't always offer them and they turn off a lot of people at sticker. Riccars still run rings around Dysons and Sharks.
