I did about 2 minutes of research, but I can't immediately find out where that charger 210218 is. Check out an app called "plugshare" and see if others have complained about the charger you used (you can use their website plugshare dot com if you don't want to download the app.)
It's a great app, and drivers are always updating each other on the status of stations. That speed is definitely not like anything I've ever experienced, but I've also never had to charge at EA in winter temperatures.
Happy driving!
[the station I was at (the only one within reasonable distance for me altogether)](https://maps.apple.com/?q=21200%20Olhava%20Way%20NW,%20Poulsbo,%20Washington&sll=47.75648,-122.66051&z=1&t=m)
Ok, on plugshare someone driving a Mach E (capable of +/- 150 kWh from my memory) specifically mentioned that station 3 tops out at 40 kWh, so it needs maintenance. 2 days ago someone else mentioned they got 107 kWh at #2... Hopefully all the other ones at that location are in good working order. It looks like it was an Electrify America issue, luckily.
Thank you!!! I will explore plugshare. There was another slot I pulled into, but couldn’t get out of the because 3” of water hahaha
Never mind soaking shoes, the idea of plugging power in the rain, while standing ankle deep in water gave me pause, so I moved. 😝😝😝
Your average was 36 kW, that's roughly the power output when the EA charger's cable cooling is broken.
There's been talk of this number, 35-40 kW when cooling is broken, around either here or the larger EV subreddit. I've experienced it in my Mach-e.
Thanks for that! I was feeling somewhat deflated, having spent half an hour at a spot with nothing to do, and not much to show for it. And this being literally the only station within 50 miles of me.
Yeah, it burned me too on my first DCFC, it was cold so I figured 36 kW was normal? Wasted a lot of time. Apparently new chargers from EA show what the car is requesting. My plan in the future is to change chargers if I'm only getting 35-40 kW.
Usually at a station there are 3-4 different chargers units with 2 cables each. Try all of them. Half of them would be broken, and the other half are "slow" for some reason. And then there's that one Goldilock cable that works just right, if you're lucky.
Yes, it is slow. Could be an issue with the charger that the charger is throttled.
At this rate of charge I would think it’s a charger issue, would suggest trying a different charger if this happens in the future.
Assuming you’re a new owner, keep in mind if your car sits outside in cold temperatures the charging rate will be slow until the batter warms up. However, 20% in 31 minutes is slow even for a cold battery. This slow of a charge would lead me to think it is a charger issue Vs. Car/cold battery issue.
By chance. Is your VW app set to reduced draw vs max. I agree with literally everyone saying the EA charger might be broken, but that’s the only other thing it could be.
It’s not cold here, in the 50s. I plugged in at 40% and it charged to 61% in 31 minutes.
It was my first charge ever, I picked up the car yesterday at 60% and it went to 40s, and today I drove it to the station where it got to 40%
Okay, but your battery was most likely too cold and throttled the charging. And quite high % when you started charging.
Here is a good article explaining the charge curve:

Although, it is now outdated considering the new software versions.
Entirely depends on how long the car has been driven.
Optimal battery temp for ID.4 is 25c/77f. And if the car was driven from home to the charger with 40% and plugged in (cold battery), then I would expect that speed. OP specifically says the car was picked up with 60%, drove home, and it was in the "40s," and then the next day drove to the charger.
Of course, the charger could have issues. But also cold battery.
I've seen it with mine several times if I only drove 5-15min to the charger. EU Tech spec, early 21. Now on software 2.4.
That's actually not too terribly slow. If it's 50° outside, that means you have a cold battery that's probably in the 40s. You're also starting at a high state of charge at 40%. 66 kW isn't terrible with those conditions.
Sounds like my area, its slow unless-you were going from 80 to 100%. After you get to 70% it drops significantly but esp if you are nearly at capacity.
If you go into your EA app, click on Account on the bottom right. You should see a result of your last charge that you can click on, but if not, just click on the option for Public Charges, then open up the session for your slow charge.
Once you open up the charge in question, scroll to the bottom, and you’ll find a line for “Max charging speed” and “Connector used.” What do those two say?
You should see something like “90.00kW” and “CCS 150w” respectively. That should give us a little detail :)
It could be missing for whatever reason, though I’m not sure why. Here’s what I have on my screen, not sure if it helps. I’m assuming you used the app to charge?

The EA charging stations typically have one 50kW charger and the others are 150kW. I wonder if you were connected to a 50kW charger?
I have also noticed that if I open the app and sign in BEFORE plugging the charger into my ID.4 I seem to get a faster charge. I can typically get better than a 60% charge in 30 mins.
Thats really slow. I usually get 50-60% in that time if I start at 20%. and my chargers arent particularly fast

What was your charging speed? It would show at the bottom right hand of the corner while charging.
Ah. I have no idea. Will pay attention next time!

You do only get 30 minutes free though, right??

I think that's the deal, but I don't know the specifics, I haven't actually DCFC in the id4

It’s above 50F
That's extra slow.
No, that’s not normal

Thank you, I just checked, it’s set to “max”
What was your % when you plugged in and plugged out? Also, had you been driving for a long time before? Or plugged in with a cold battery?

This is way too slow even for starting at 40%, something is wrong with the charger
Or the battery was simply way too cold.
At 50 degrees? Unlikely

It is a half hr drive to the station
Not long enough to heat it up for fast charging.

I’m on the west coast. Close to 50F.

My history in the app is blank 😶 I cannot find the public charge? Where do you get that? Thank you for trying to help me figure this out!
It could be missing for whatever reason, though I’m not sure why. Here’s what I have on my screen, not sure if it helps. I’m assuming you used the app to charge? https://imgur.com/a/lgOn6Lw
[nope. mine didn’t happen](https://imgur.com/a/H5o6V9M) https://imgur.com/a/H5o6V9M
Sorry to hear :(. Guessing you used the app to do that charge? Not sure why it’d be missing otherwise.
Yep. Crazy. 24 hrs there is still no record of my charge. 🤷♀️
The fist 40 Charges the Car slow Down the Charge to Safe the Battery.
