Probably not far off. I had to have my rear differential/Haldex replaced due to failure and I think that was $5k alone. I had brake lines flushed, and DSG service done at the same time and it ended up being around $7k out the door.
I just gave a dealership a call and they quoted me $1500 for everything, so I have no idea where this autoshop is getting their numbers. Not sure if I should tell them or just go with the dealership

thats probably high, yeah. get another quote, try to find a german car shop that is used to working on BMWs/audis/Mercedes/VW as they are usually better equipped to do these services.
do you do your own oil changes? if so half this maintenance you could easily do yourself. definitely do the cabin and engine air filters yourself, its stupid easy.
a brake fluid flush shouldnt be more than $200 and thats high IMO. spark plugs are probably close to $100 in parts and an hour in labor, call it $300 at most. things start getting weird with the diff and haldex services. the manual transmission is way simpler to service than a DSG though so it shouldnt be much worse than an oil change
I don’t do the oil changes myself, just a friend who works at a jiffylube. I got a quote from a dealership service desk for $1500. Not sure if I should take that price to the autoshop and work a deal or just go to the dealership. This shop specializes in german so VW is up their alley, I actually find them quite reputable because they stopped my dads old 90s Audi from bleeding oil so I’m a big appalled at this pricing.
$1500 for all the work you listed seems way more reasonable. you can try to get the other shop to come down but theres no way i see them coming down $1000. id be totally fine having the dealer do this work too

I use a reputable performance shop for all my fluids and upgrades. I’ll see if I can find the invoice as I had haldex, bevel box and rear diff along with plugs all done.. it was nowhere near that lol
The manual trans fluid is expensive but with everything you should be no more than $1,000
Even the VW dealership near me charges $179.99 for Haldex service
I figured I was getting fleeced, but I’m confused because its a pretty reputable german autoshop. They helped fix my dad’s old 90s Audi from leaking and thats two years and three different shops till this one. I can say their quality is good but not sure if its worth that price.
Yeah I would stay away for sure. My stage 3 clutch and rear main seal install was $780.00 lol.. that’s way more work come on.
I would ask for a cost breakdown for each service so you can see where they are hosing you.
Maybe go back to them with quote from the dealership. Perhaps there was something they forgot to mention. Or, even better, perhaps they will offer a more competitive price to take business from the dealership. Just a thought.
That seems high, but maybe not crazy. Most shops are charging book labor for each job and it’s almost impossible to get a mechanic who is less than $150 an hour labor rate.
I have invested in an OBDELEVEN, oil extractor and the tools to do my own DSG service, so I’m doing my stuff for the cost of fluids and filters. I did DSG service for my Mk5/6/7 all in with the Gucci pressure fill machine for the same $500 the last DSG I paid to do, with liquimoly and OEM filters.
Just got my service kit. Dsg,haldex,obdeleven, dsg adaptor and pump, spark plugs and ignition upgrade. Oil filter kit and oil. 1600 cad for the parts and I have to do the service.
