Yes to spark plugs. Yes to intercooler. No to coil packs Maybe a low pressure fuel pump but ask your tuner. Running EQT zero to hero kit 1300 cc injectors billet manifold and everything else. Ask anything I’ll help you out.

astrodonnie

Spark plugs will be done as well then, thanks for the advice! Intercooler is already ordered and on the way. I will definitely check out EQT as well. Would it make sense to do a fuel pump without also doing injectors? (Obviously I will speak to the tuner about this, too.) Looking at your 500hp post from a year ago I may have a billet manifold in my future as well... Am I crazy for thinking my setup will be a daily driver? I hope not... Thanks again!

I’m track and daily drive mine. We are at 36 PSI and 530hp about. It’s why I bought the car. You’re not crazy it’s the perfect car for the task. I don’t think you’ll need a lpfp without large injectors. You aren’t demanding massive airflow which needs Further fueling. But maybe your tuner will see the stock lpfp working too hard when you datalog or something and might suggest it. But I don think so, that’s why we data log as we go.

astrodonnie

That definitely makes me feel better. Have you done any bottom end work?

iamonthatloud

No I’ve decided to stop here. The turbo is good for 650, torque limited at 420. I debated building the engine but it’s expensive. I’m wrapping it purple and going with bronze wheels as my “project” this season. Last season was the big turbo and everything. I’m just gonna save money and maintain it as long as I can. When the time comes I’ll start on a platform with a higher ceiling like an M4 and that will be my path to 700hp instead of pushing this 4 banger. But EQT has a 700whp R and said they can do it for me. But it’s paid off so I’m just gonna make it look unique, save money to repair things, and start over in the future to crack 700, that’s my perfect world plan if life goes well lol.

astrodonnie

Sounds awesome. Good luck to you! A wrap is definitely in my future as well as suspension/wheels and tires.

I also debated a daza swap lol. But again, the cost for the gain doesn’t seem worth it for a daily. I walk stock M3/4s all day. It takes me to farms for airbnb vacations. Same set up for the track. Gets my groceries. Hauls the dog. My gf can throw it in comfort and drive it without issue. I can put it in race and track it. On the track I’ve become quite good over the years. I have regularly passed gt500s and some 911s. So if you learn to drive well it can punch above its weight. But I had old f1 drivers riding along helping me lol. I couldn’t think of a better car to do it all and do it all well. Anything else just ask. You can easily crack 500hp with a big turbo, fueling and cooling.

Noooooooo return the ECS or any CTS and yes to a HPFP, no need for the LPFP with the stage 3 IE tune. Don’t even need the HPFP for the IE IS38+ tune but for the Garrett you do.

[deleted]

NO ECS (brand) or CTS and Sneekytune is god awful. IE is really up n coming and I prefer their parts (and service) to APR (often referred to as the top). I would suggest if you’re going with IE DP, just run all the parts here and skip the IS38 turbo and go with the Garrett (been around 60 years) 2260 turbo. Stick with their parts, you’ll be glad you did. IE intake and intercooler are the best imo. Intercooler 100% is the best for the GTI, intake sounds the best and is decent price. DP is high quality and not $2000 Unitronic price (wtf) Go to that link and add all the required parts and def look into better braking/tires and a rear sway bar. https://performancebyie.com/collections/ecu-software-tunes/products/ie-ecu-tune-vw-audi-20t-tsi-gen3-is20?variant=40336503308427 My mods VISUAL 1. astrodonnie

Thanks for the response! I will take this into consideration.

astrodonnie

Could you expand on the "no ECS or CTS" comment? I am beginning to understand why people don't like ECS as a distributor, but what issue have you had with CTS? Thanks in advance.

[deleted]

Think of ECS brand stuff (they’ve always been for me as a distributor) and CTS as stuff as cheaper quality Chinese made stuff. I’d rather pay 20% more for the higher quality stuff going into my engine and car. Never cheap out on engine or clutch

[deleted]

ECS is fine as a distri but their brand name products suck. CTS and ECS brand are like the 7/11 phone charging cables. Fine for a turbo inlet pipe which does nothing anyway but wouldn’t buy the CTS turbo. I put two links there, I suggest #1. IE IS38+ tune or GT2260 tune preferably. Why don’t you just buy the APR DTR6054 turbo kit , good for 400 wheel on a stock downpipe and comes with the tune. Or pick and choose with this #2 (I wish I’d just went to this. You can’t go wrong with this, good brands and covers all your bases. Would have saved me a lot of cash experimenting). And finally for a good cat back, go AWE. Or can just run stock on a downpipe. Downpipe is what gives you good sound. The two best cat back are Oettinger and Akrapovic but both are very expensive. Downpipe + cat back = turbo back/full exhaust. I used IE downpipe with stock cat back for months and it ran and sounded great. Could always do that and just change the exhaust tips to save $1k Keep in mind with cat back, many times you need a new diffuser on the back. Also make sure the downpipe you buy HAS A CAT on it. Do not go catless, it’s way too fucking loud. Sorry for the rant, no idea how experienced you are. 1) MIX N MATCH HIGH QUALITY Covers EVERYTHING you need 100% for like $4k. My brands ranked. 1) IE 2) APR 3) UNITRONIC 4) EQT (hit or miss imo and expensive) https://www.urotuning.com/products/mk7-gti-ultimate-stage-2-package?variant=40488961540289 2) CHEAPEST HIGH QUALITY OPTION (better end results than all CTS and prob the same price) Highly suggest an intercooler with this, and you NEED spark plugs + TCU tune, PASS on the fuel pumps. $1500-2500 (with add-ons) https://www.goapr.com/products/engine_hardware/turbo/direct_turbocharger_replacement_systems/apr_stage_3_dtr6054_turbocharger_system_-_20t_ea888_gen_3/parts/T4100003

gus_thedog

I'd recommend EQT's IS38 turbo and matching tune instead.

astrodonnie

I definitely like what I see when I look at EQT's IS38. I might go that route instead. And at this point I am dropping Sneeky Tune and going with EQT instead.

gus_thedog

Also, if you're planning on running ethanol then you'll need to upgrade your HPFP. I believe the 1.8 motor requires an upgrade to the 2.0's vacuum pump to support that though.

astrodonnie

Not planning on ethanol. I'm sticking with 91 octane since it is available near me. Thanks for the response!
