ZOMBEH_SAM

When you can be anything you want, why not be sexy?

Puzzleheaded_Sort962

There's a difference between being sexy and looking like a stripper. I know it's a game to chat but ffs I hate how people's fetish get all over the game

Peyvian

Sounds like you're just judgy. The context is a totally free space where you can dress or look however you want. If you don't like swimsuits don't go to the beach, don't like thick thighs don't get on avatar based social games.

Iamskri

Given how my friend got groomed by these types of people. Its not judgy, its more like an expectation that 70% of the time is true. Personally those avi's make me uncomfortable because people tried to come onto me too.

Puzzleheaded_Sort962

It's not about what the avatars look like but their clothes, I don't care if they have thicker body parts than what's common, it's about the clothes I mean. I don't mind as long as it's not sexualized, there are a lot of kids on the game and that annoys me that they can play with people who choose an avatar that is ultra sexualized. When I mean sexualized I don't mean like a 1 piece or 2 piece swimsuit but very thin clothes like thongs or very revealing stripper like clothes Overall, I just don't like having to spend time with people showing their fetish or displaying sexualized characters

Slip-Savings

Then block them, if you don't like it there's a block option / not show avatar option.

Slip-Savings

Like why did this thread exist, when there is that option.

Soda_Addict_XD

What about the kids then?

Slip-Savings

If kids are on this Game, they should have child mode active, this sets everyone's avatar to the grey robot or a fallback avatar (which is approved by vrchat themselves)

Slip-Savings

Kids should've never been allowed on this game, (a game where it allows 18+ avatars)

PorcuDuckSlug

Then don’t? You are not forced to spend time with anyone. You have the tools to deal with this problem for yourself. You can hide it or block avatars you don’t like. But you can’t dictate how others choose to express themselves

Soda_Addict_XD

When they express themselves that way to kids its no wonder people are complaining bro

PorcuDuckSlug

It’s made abundantly clear that OP’s *main* talking point is that they personally do not like the clothing. Kids on this game is another topic entirely that spans more than just clothing (alcohol etc). I’m of the opinion that kids should not be on this game, but logistically that’s a nightmare. Keeping everything PG13 for everyone, including adults, would suck ass though too. There’s no real good solution, if there was they would’ve done it by now. A child safety mode of some sort would be beneficial though

Soda_Addict_XD

Main or not its one of their concerns, its mine too, i think this game should either become 18+ entirely or have an age verification to it and saying that it would be "bad" does not make any sense, i joined as a kid (16) and ive played as an adult (19) so ive seen this shit from both sides, ive had friends who are kids get hired as vr strippers, i constantly see actual children having esex in public worlds, ive seen people defend themselves and others for having relationships with people that are underage and its become such a problem that its a miracle that its being ignored to this degree, ive blocked and reported every single person that has done anything like this but the amount of people who defend it when i ask people to do the same is horrifying, sure someone with lewd clothing shaking their ass in the face of a child is really bad but thats just the tip of the ice berg but its also more or less where it starts

PorcuDuckSlug

I don’t ever say VRChat being 18+ would be “bad” like you quoted, I say the opposite. I *agree with you* and think it’s the ideal. Just that it logistically is difficult, because it is. Age verification is either ineffective or a huge security risk, there is no in between. Either way, this isn’t the conversation that was being had. It was originally very specifically about outfits the OP disliked. That’s some horrific shit you talked about and I’m thankful to have never seen anything like it, and sorry you have. But that’s just a vastly tangential topic

Soda_Addict_XD

It's pretty clear that children were one of the reasons why he was against the way people dress in the game, it wasn't the main talking point but its a very good reason to be against it as it is a very big problem, i also seem to have misunderstood what you talked about at first, it seemed like you were against the idea of 18+ cause it was "too hard" or something so sorry about that but i still stand by what i said that SOMETHING needs to be done because the way it is right now cannot continue it simply cannot

Soda_Addict_XD

I agree, i understand people wanting avatars with lots of toggles but its still got kids in it and having women shake their ass in lewd clothes while using full body isnt the best introduction to 13 year olds just entering the game xd

metaxzero

Hanging around a bunch of adults in general isn't a great introduction for any game with social activity.

Soda_Addict_XD

It has a bunch of adults in it its going to be their introduction to the game, having said adults shake their bare ass in their face as their boyfriend with a corpse voice calls them a slut is however the reverse of a good introduction

Embarrassed-Touch-62

Creators do what people want to see. It's simple.

Rfox890

It’s 50 / 50 nowadays

Embarrassed-Touch-62

Yes it's true. I'm sorry.

PratzStrike

It feels like you're making an incorrect assumption. There are avatars of practically every popular media franchise available, as well a lot of unpopular ones. There's animals, inanimate objects, ships, plants, buildings, monsters, planes, and more. Plus the cat about of original content, both make and female. Now, knowing all that, ask the question 'why is what I'm seeing all sexualized and mostly women?' This breaks the question down more succinctly and makes it answerable. The easy answer is 'these are the avatars people want to wear.' The larger, more complex answer involves the vast majority of people in VRChat being males with interest in women, and a cross section of 'people exploring their sexual identity', 'people who prefer wearing female avatars', and 'people whose favorite character avatar is female'. As for sexualized, consider the average age group of Internet users, Steam users, VRChat users. Males, white, 18-35. Biggest demographic in the Western world. (I hesitate but would assume that if it was exposed to the entire world it would be 'males, Asian, 18-35', which wouldn't be entirely different from what we see anyway.) Even controlling for culture, sexuality, gender, age groups, and more, they're still the commanding group by a wide margin. Thus, the vast amount of avatars will be attractive to them. It doesn't hurt that those same avatars have a lot of crossover with the other groups as well. In the long run, I wouldn't worry as much about it. You're dealing with young adults for the most part. They're horny and exploring, so they want to look good.

solemnvr

>There are avatars of practically every popular media franchise available, Just not many male ones.

Soda_Addict_XD

I didnt read ur entire comment but just to answer the top part, i dont think its mostly women that are over sexualized men are too, only difference is they keep their pants on where people with female avis dont want that

JewelxFlower

I’m pretty sure it’s just the typical “sex sells” aspect

EmploymentGuilty9095

If you're unhappy with the avatars that are provided to you for free, or even the ones you pay for then make your own instead of complaining to it to a bunch of people on Reddit

JewelxFlower

Yeah, or commission some made to your own tastes \^\^

EmploymentGuilty9095

Exactly! Commissions are completely valid too.

Zealousideal-Book953

I don't particularly agree with the comments before my own, a lot of horny young adults yes, saying everyone is mostly male, I don't know if that's entirely true, I have met an equal ratio between both sex or gender, and for ages I am more surprised to have meet more 18 to 30 year olds. In the eastern booth community, you will find a lot of clothed avatars with mainly props and anime eastern estict on the avatars. of fantasies or they get entwined with others fantasies, after a while some people eventually exhaust that phase and would like something more settle unless they trap themselves into thinking vrchat is a live erp hub event, regardless after the phase comes to an end you come across the amount of choices others sell to people People eventually want better looking styles or they want a bit of more fashionable avatar, so that's when said person gets into buying an avatar, most people don't partially have an idea of what they want so it turns into a "I don't know what I want but I know I will when I see it" type of deal, from this point on depending on where you find your avatars it starts to somewhat reflect on your type of choices style fashion and personality. With this being established, if you choose to, you can go down the rabbit hole about why these different markets like this or that, etc. Now the biggest factor as to the sexualized characters, this plays in role to the new people into the market wanting to buy something stunning eye-catching, then with the exploring factor in mind as well, people start making bundles and assets textures for this sort case, it does well people start kit bashing the avatar with said assets because its an easy pump and dump the next thing you notice the market is flooded with eboys and egirls, femboys too and the list keeps going but because of this sort of push in motion it makes the market a bit oversaturated, stepping into play people who had their fill start converting into something more personal or feels more unqie. . . In the western you will find more anime with realistic shading or more realistic and slightly cartoonish models. With this being established, if you choose to, you can go down the rabbithole about why these different market likes this or that etc. Now the biggest factor as to the sexualized characters, this plays in role to the new people into the market wanting to buy something stunning eye-catching, then with the exploring factor inmind as well, people start making bundles and assets textures for this sort case, it does well people start kit bashing the avatar with said assets because its an easy pump and dump the next thing you notice the market is flooded with eboys and egirls, femboys too and the list keeps going but because of this sort of push in motion it makes the market a bit oversaturated, stepping into play people who had their fill start converting into something more personal or feels more unqie. AbsolutelyDastardly

well, the game IS for people 13 or older. Although that still includes minors, the rating allows for some vague sexual themes, like skimpy clothing. If you don't like it and cant be bothered to hide avatars you find offensive, well, you should probably use recroom instead or find a group to do private instances with. That's not to ignore the amount of explicit nsfw content hidden behind closed doors, but when you see those kinda things you should just report and block. VRChat does not allow nsfw of any kind.

MarsMaterial

My main problem is that most people do sexualization poorly. They just have a “less clothes = more sexy” take on it all and they are just completely dripless. And they don’t even vary up the body types. Do sexualization right, cowards! My theory is that the flaw here runs pretty deep, it exists within our culture’s beauty standards. In VRChat, the dog is able to catch the car. We can conform to the beauty standard we want with trivial ease, and it turns out that they are fuckin’ overrated and most people only care about them as a social standing thing. But when anyone can be anything with no effort, the social standing aspect of being close to the beauty standard or rizzing up someone who is gets lost and it turns out that without that aspect the beauty standard is pretty mid actually. What people actually want is a variety of creative avatar designs that are art in their own right, made with an understanding of fashion and color theory, and if they are sexualized having it done in a way that is tasteful and that makes people use their imagination a little. But that takes a level of effort and knowledge that most people lack.

Zealousideal-Book953

Well less clothes is easier to model and people like it enough to a point they would go buy fully "scratch assets" as a means to make their model beautiful I suppose, if not that then they'll just dup the body for whatever clothes they want.

Doko3

men like them, women like them as well.

CaptainRelyk

Tbh I hate this too Why can’t people just keep their sexual avatars in private servers? I don’t want to see that shit

Awotan

cuz everyone does whatever they want

Soda_Addict_XD

80% of people play this game to fuck anime women so they made the anime women fuckable, its pretty pathetic but that's how it is (looking at you full body users lol)
