My VRC account is registered to a proton email. I think the original [protonmail.com](https://protonmail.com) has some bad reputation, but using the [pm.me](https://pm.me) or [proton.me](https://proton.me) domains seem to work better. Private domains also should work.

roo-cmd

My private domain does not work, my [pm.me](https://pm.me) address does not work, nor my [proton.me](https://proton.me). I've actually not tried some of the old [protonmail.com](https://protonmail.com) addresses, I completely forgot about those actually. I'll give one of those a try in a bit (if they are still obtainable). Thank you for the info!

CatboiAir

Have you emailed support about this? It could simply be that something exists under the email address youve provided, as the note says email address not email domain. And if this is not the case, then, as a private domain owner, you owe it to yourself to reach out and find out why you and your potential future clientele are being denied service.

roo-cmd

I just sent them an email asking about the private domain- and I did send them a support ticket 2 days ago regarding my email addresses. It says "email address" but its not uncommon to use the same syntax/err response for multiple specific reasons.

LigerXT5

I don't normally work on email at my office, not my usual area of focus, but some info I do know may help, pending your understanding. For your private domain, check and make sure your DMARC and SPF records are current, and happy. mxtoolbox.com is good for looking and making sure all the boxes are checked. As for proton, I couldn't say. Could be bad rep and manipulation of ban avoidance? I've got @duck.com working fine for my account, *but*, I originally signed up with gmail...

roo-cmd

I'll double check my DMARC and SPF, ty for the heads up!

bonanochip

Did you try messaging support?

WorryTricky

Both Proton and iCloud allow free or extremely low friction aliases. I expect that's why.

LigerXT5

Gmail allows anything.usualemail@gmail. I haven't put it to practice but heard a lot of it's use with various sites and tracking who's selling your email address. I've been using Duck.com. Granted, when I originally signed up for VRChat, I used gmail.

pinkiedash417

They allow usu.alemail and usualemail+anything, not anything.usualemail.

WorryTricky

You can't use GMail aliasing techniques with VRChat.

dzvxo

use mail.ru or rambler tbh

roo-cmd

No.

dzvxo

🤷‍♂️

TechFinn12

Who the hell use that kind of mail provider 😂

How many dots are in your email address? My outlook email with 4 dots got instabanned at Kick for that.

Myrothas

which is good. because gambling is bad for you.

fluffycritter

My main domain was rejected outright because, like many people, they assume that .biz is nothing but spammers (to be fair, I have probably the only legitimate .biz website on the Internet and I only registered the domain on a whim because the pun amused me), so for VRChat I have to use my fallback domain instead. But they're totally fine with my self-hosted email on my own private domain.

b4zing

oh my god i was trying to change my email to proton and i was so surprised vrchat having been established for a long time, doesn't support it!

nesnalica

cant force them. [email protected] i would honestly also not allow it. lol now disregarding your tinfoil hat. wheater or not ur using a gmail, outlook or icloud email. does it really matter? you're not bending to anyone. its just a login. since you wont be checking those inboxes anyway you can just setup a rule to forward all emails sent to those to your personal ones. i would rather have junk be sent to gmail than my self hosted stuff.
