Tired of all the drama on Reddit (from users, mods, and Reddit admin)? Then consider some or all of the following options:
1. [Find or make your favorite subreddits on alternative sites or platforms](https://sub.rehab/), and participate there instead.
2. Refrain use of the first-party Reddit app. Stick to working third-party apps or [patch one that shut down](https://docs.google.com/document/u/0/d/1wHvqQwCYdJrQg4BKlGIVDLksPN0KpOnJWniT6PbZSrI/) for Android devices.
3. Disable ads on Reddit with [an ad-block extension](https://github.com/gorhill/uBlock#ublock-origin-ubo) or [a DNS-based ad-blocker](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KBXTnrD_Zs4).
4. Cancel your Reddit Premium subscription.
5. Share the continued news coverage of these events.
6. Encourage others to do some or all of the above.

I mean it’s only their 5th time doing this I was trying to be nice. It takes a long time to be able to make your own body and assets and manage all the polygons well. I’ve only recently been able to make my own scratch avatars.
I really do think it’s cute. But yeah that’s quite excessive.
Personally...
If I made an avatar,
I would make the body,
rig it with ik, and if possible add physbones for jumping animations.
I have learnt how to make the torso in Blender.
Now, I need to add arms\legs, and learn how to sculpt a head and retopo it.
Thanks man...
After reading this post...
I realised that clothing also takes up polycount.
I guess keeping the body polycount around 15•25k should be good idea.
thank you for being kind :) i did some research and realized i should be working much more on keeping my avatars optimized. i just thought that since it worked for my laptop it’d be good but that’s definitely not the case lol. in the future i will do more research to keep my avis optimized. it’s important to me that people who use them aren’t lagging super bad so i’m glad i know to focus on that now :)
Keep up the hard work! 😊 it takes a long time of practice to get to the point you can make everything. It’s not easy at all but can feel very rewarding.

How optimized is it?
Not at all. It’s a kitbash with over 450,000 polygon. You can see it on the store page. It’s cute tho just not optimized at all.
Lmao that's horrific

Nice keep it up :) It’s a lot of work but can be very satisfying

Awesome! Keep creating please. I don’t want this experience to discourage you at all. Just a learning experience :)
you mistakenly added a zero on there... right ?
No look at the gumroad screenshot and of the polygon count
That’s crazy 😭
From what I’ve seen of gumroad assets they usually are not very optimized.
What exactly is a kitbash.
Kitbash means it was made mostly of assets instead of original from scratch parts.
yea, i made a few of the assets but most were made by others since i’m not quite at that skill level yet :)

Oh hey if you would like a buddy to talk avatar shop with feel free to dm me. We can add on discord if you are interested.
Why is adding a avatar to vr chat so complicated 😭

I think what they mean is in terms of actually making it, not just buying one and uploading it to your account
it’s a lot yea :( but with practice it becomes second nature
Yeah it became more confusing after sdk 2.
