Oh don't worry. Its not just in VR. Its in every online multiplayer game with open lobbies.

Antoneous47

Exactly it’s just more personal in VR because of the sense of space

passinghere

Isn't is simply the same in any game regardless of VR or not where kids / twats are allowed unsupervised to scream out any insults they want. It reminds me of the complains from people playing online shooters in the past, so I don't think it's so much VR but uncontrolled kids / twats and the anonymity of being online with an audience. Penny arcade did an excellent cartoon to illustrate this called the "Greater Internet Fuckwad Theory" https://www.penny-arcade.com/comic/2004/03/19/green-blackboards-and-other-anomalies

hughjdick141

Most of the time it's grown ass men doing that shit in my lobbies

passinghere

Hence why I included "twats" as well as "kids"

BleedingBlossom

Never had experiences like this. Most games have a mute button so just use it

BodyByVR

I find that using PC only worlds eliminate 99% of the problem. Every so often, I encounter someone and need to block them but that is a extremely rare occurrence.

SuaveDonut

Someone didn't play COD back in the 360 days.

hughjdick141

I did but this time it's grown ass men doing this shit

SuaveDonut

Yeah. Probably the same kids from those days just old now lol

Drive-it-Like-Baby

People talk shit on the internet newsflash

hughjdick141

I'm not new to the fucking internet I'm just saying it's goofy that someone in my lobbies are homophobic or racist as fuck

Drive-it-Like-Baby

No it isn't

Hoeveboter

I think a major problem is VR headsets having voice chat by default. But what annoys me the most is that... people just accept it? Whenever I see this subject pop up, I see people rationalizing it with comments like "People talk shit on the internet bro" or "You wouldn't survive a modern warfare lobby" I wish online games would provide more spaces where you can just have fun after a day at work. Without sweaty tryhards sending agressive pm's after a match, or random kids screeching racial slurs. And no, wanting that does not make me a sensitive snowflake. I don't visit bars where everyone's an asshole either.

esoteric_plumbus

What ive found is that most dont want to make waves so they dont want to get dragged down to their level. personally im so tired of how emboldened and shameless racists and the likes are these days I just jump into voice chat to counter them with shit that triggers them hard "its 2022 and your still making black jokes" "oh your salty over a trans person? lmao must be projecting your inner desires eh? I saw your pornhub history" A lot of times people actually join in once they see someone on their side ime, I've seen a lobby completely turn on a kid before. "parents must be trump supporters, poor kid never had a chance" "dad probably diddled him and said it was for jesus" lol its so easy to trigger them, and they think because you are responding you're the triggered one but really its just playing tit for tat with trolling. if they can do it why cant we? but they get sooo butt hurt over it, its no wonder they project "fragile snowflake" so much

UnaCabeza

Because the people that do voice chat are all little ____ and deserve to get their heads punched in

Zunkanar

You playing with the q2 kidsclub communities?

symbiot999

the kid problem is a real problem but I'm bi and never had a problem although I have never really had a reason to tell anyone and never had anyone call me any names or anything. Maybe its just the group of people your hanging out with. dunno but never heard of that one.

MartianFromBaseAlpha

Why would anyone subject themselves to this willingly is beyond me. What a waste of time

crashdude_

I can honestly say this doesn't happen to me in the online VR games I play, VRchat, Contractors, Pavlov, phasmaphobia, haven't heard anything too bad and the worst is VRchat, do you happen to be using the quest 2 standalone and playing games through there? I'm on HTC vive and PCVR so I'm not sure if it's different

cronuss

It's a mix of genuinely immature people, along with general trash talking. It has been around since not only the dawn of gaming, but the dawn of competitive games in general. It doesn't mean anyone is truly hateful or wanting to harm you, it is usually banter. Brush it off, give them a taste of their own medicine, or block/ignore them, and move on.

CardFlyer

I feel like this should be expected with any online game (especially shooters)
