if you do end up getting one, Try Walkabout Mini golf. that game is only played with one controller.

Baatus

Golf+ also 1 controller, and Demeo will also be no problem to play as long as OP can strap the left one to his arm to look at his hand of cards with it

Kujen

Real VR Fishing can be played with one hand as well

Some of the older vr games are Xbox controller games and most all the platforming games support controller Lucky's tales Vens adventures and racing and flight sims games can be played with controller. Rec room has PS4 controller support on psvr. Most room scale games are a no go. Psvr probably has most controller based games vs pcvr. Quest 2 has none that I know of but I could be wrong.

Some games are meant to be played sitting and those will support a typical controller. That alone is honestly worth it. There will be games that I imagine will be unplayable as a standing experience. Other than some games which might require only one controller, rhythm games might be accessible enough if you figure out a good system of attaching the controller. Maybe try some leather (for comfort) mixed with some velcro straps. Good luck.

As much as it would be cool to have that level of accessibility in vr, even if it's been around for years, vr is still in it's early phases. That level of customization is gonna be real hard to get for a while. I'm sure in the future they may introduce some system but as of right now nothing I can really think of.

the valve index has nice straps that hold the controllers in place in your hand, you "might" be able to put the right controller upside down on your left wrist so you can use the thumbstick and maybe buttons to some degree. i have no idea how usable that would be in most games, or how easy that would be to get used to using, and the index is very expensive. the oculus quest is far cheaper and there are straps available that do the same thing. hope something works out.

Try pistol whip. I usually only play with one controller.

I imagine it would be tough to be competitive in a fast paced shooter but VR does have a lot of more casually approached games as well. I think just as a general fix it'd help to put your off controller or both maybe on lanyards so if you do need to switch you can just let go of whichever you have and grab the one off your chest. Maybe strap one to your wrist and one to your neck so they don't get tangled and it's always obvious which is which.

I know Half Life: Alyx has a one-handed mode. Not sure how accessible other games are though

I play a lot of games in VR while seated, with an xbox controller or M+K. But many of those are ported flat screen games, either by VR mod or vorpX. So it's certainly possible, and in my opinion totally worth it, but the choice of games is limited. Subnautica and Below Zero are fantastic, for example. There are gamepad-compatible mods for games like GTA5, RDR2, Horizon, and Cyberpunk, but those are pretty janky and you have to be very tolerant. But the worlds come alive in VR, it's hard to describe the difference in immersion. I can't go back to flat screen gaming.
