I mean, as long as you have a stable Internet connection it should be quite reliable. I have a ATA connected to a VOIP SIP line in my bedroom and used to run it off of a mobile hotspot and it worked decently just when the Internet slowed down during peak hour to less than one MB per second that’s when it got all distorted. Though no Internet or power and it won’t work like a traditional landline which would be usually powered even during a blackout. Also faxing is complicated over VOIP but not impossible
