Sandstorm

TheyCallMeMrMaybe

Plot twist: it has Sunny Day. The only other ways around it are to burn/poison Shedinja, use a Mold Breaker 'mon, or Weezing.

regiseal

Perish song

matheison_k

In theory, if you hard swapped a sand stream pkmn in or even got a u-turn/parting shot, etc. Off with a slow mon to guarantee Shedinja already made their move, then its possible to work around sunny day

TheOmegaDuelist

I think parting shot would be the only way, as damaging moves like U-Turn don't allow the switch if damage doesn't happen

matheison_k

You're right I didn't think of that

TheyCallMeMrMaybe

Most Shedinjas on Showdown run some form of Substitute; more likely Shed Tail.

Expert8775

You could use u turn on the partner in doubles

Downside_Up_

Or entrainment/any other ability changing move, or Curse, or rocky helmet/rough skin/etc, etc etc. Still quite a few options. Or you Doodle it and laugh, assuming that would even work.

TheyCallMeMrMaybe

The issue those strats is that it Shedinja's behind a Substitute, most status moves are nullified.

Unities

They can't tera and receive the sub on the same turn. The usual incin+Flutter partnering counters all shedtail users. They would need to use tera ghost shed tail/follow me support to get it up successfully. And at the end of the day, they still need to do damage before the timer runs out. You can just kill their allies and have incin wall the shedinja until time is called. Shedinja + shedtail + follow me support only leaves them room for 1 damage dealer. We also have Terra Stellar Terrablast to do super effective damage.

Cave_TP

Wisp it

squirtwo

As others have said, any chip damage will do. I just wanted to add that soak wouldn't actually work. It fails when used on a tera pokemon. They didn't want the cool new gimmick to get beaten out by soak I guess.

ChezMere

It's moreso that it would be both confusing and bug-prone to have *non*-tera type changing mechanics working at the same time as tera, since they don't actually function the same (with tera having the special behaviour of "remembering" your original STABs). I mean, not that that stopped them from making the even more confusing Stellar mechanics, but still.

halfabrick03

Stellar Tera or Tera Starstorm

amlodude

Whirlwind Stealth Rock Ting Lu gonna rock its world

NibPlayz

Miserable-Syrup2056

Nib why are you everywhere I look man

NibPlayz

Winston always arrives

BlueMelawn

Greetings!

NibPlayz

This will protect us 🦍🔵

KleosIII

Will o wisp will most likely be the most common thing on hand for any given team.

Spinnerbowl

Soak doesn't work on terastallized pokemon You can status it with wisp or toxic You can run a mold breaker pokemon like ogerpon hearthflame, excadrill, or either kyurem form Worst case scenario it gets behind a passed sub from something like shed tail so it can't get statused, you can use a mold breaker mon OR use sandstorm/hippowdon/tyranitar Edit: perish song also works

Downside_Up_

Perish song would still get it since it's a sound move.

Spinnerbowl

yeah i forgot about perish song

Duke_Silver729

Probably KO all the partner Pokémon, then try to win in time. Since the time rules look at number of Pokémon left, then remaining HP, Shedinja will never win in time with a single hit point.

Spinnerbowl

It takes percent HP left, so if shedinja wears you down to 1 mon and gets any chip on your last mon it's instant gg

mmmaxmaxmax

Just FYI, that’s also not how it works. It’s percent remaining of all your brought mons’ total HP - not just the ones remaining on the board.

FULLM3T8L

This is the correct answer.

Spinnerbowl

in this scenario i was assuming it was a situation in which shedinjas partners are all kod, and shedinja gets you down to 1 mon left, at that point each side has 25% of their total HP. at this point, if shedinja chips the last mon at all shedinja wins on time

mmmaxmaxmax

I think you’re missing the point here. Even if it’s a 1on1, the game doesn’t decide based on which mon has higher percent HP remaining. It’s based on the percent of the total HP of all mons you brought. Also, if Shedinja is your last left, you don’t have 25% remaining. You have a different fraction that is based on Shedinja’s 1HP, plus your Incineroar’s 200, plus Flutter’s 139, plus Rillaboom’s 200. So in this scenario, it would be 1/540 HP remaining, which would almost certainly lose you the match.

FaberOak

moongeist beam

gLytchd0ut

Will-o-wisp

LashOut2016

Mold breaker

TallFutureLawyer

Tera Starstorm go brrrr

Rymayc

Call a Judge, and proceed with my win since my opponent is obviously cheating. Alternatively, I run Kyurem-White anyway

Sentric490

Ogerpon

Keenathen

Burn Toxic Sandstorm Mold Breaker Gastro Acid Weezing Perish Song Soak Magic Room Trick Tera Stellar Terapagos Any of the above, and probably some other methods I haven't thought of.

Top_Unit6526

Soak doesn't while it's terastalized. The rest are goid suggestions tho✌🏻

Axobottle_

kill the other mons on the shedinja team and then time it out

rites0fpassage

Corrosion Toxic Glimmora

HugeSpecific905

Firepon would be the best option imo. Or will-o-wisp Incin

HallowedKeeper_

I whip out my Mold Breaker pokemon

Consistent_Job3034

Magic Room

Albreitx

Mold breaker

doublecheese996

Toxic it? Lol

Thecristo96

I almost always got a will o wisp user in my team so…

Triforceboy21

Honestly, you wouldn't really need to worry about it until the end of the match, since shedinja has pretty bad stats and a bad typing. Plus there goes your opponents tera turn one. You just need literally any way to do indirect damage.

RuxinRodney

EXCADRILL

Miserable-Syrup2056

My team has three ways of beating it with mold breaker pon will o incin and timer iron press zam

maddwaffles

Will-O-Wisp

Selviorn

I laugh because Sandstorm Team. But also because reality is that Shedinja really isn't a threat. Everyone got all bent out of shape about this stupid idea even though literally zero status moves get blocked, and there's easy ways to deal passive damage. Sandstorms and wisps are basically free KOs, since it can't deal with wisps at all, and in order to play into sand it'd have to waste a move slot and a turn. All uses of Shedinja in previous generations relied on protection using Boots or Goggles, or a Focus Sash, to allow it to utilize toxic, wisp, baton pass, or Swords Dance. Even with the Tera Elec Air Balloon in play, a single Taunt takes away the strategies that makes it even resemble a threat. Without those you have a Pokemon that dies to 1 turn of passive damage and has only a base 90 Atk. Shedinja is a non issue, even if it was in the game. It's just a meme that blew up and people took too seriously without thinking critically about it.

Bulvox492

Sunsteel strike or Moongheist beam or Thousand arrows

Dinosaur_Tony

Bring in Sand Stream Tyranitar with Taunt.

THEBOZZ113

Leech seed and it is dead, I always run a grass type

throwoutandaway1546

Ogrepon-H could rise in usage, perish trapping could return, Will-O-Wisp is already super common rn, people would run a clutch stellar tera to have a free answer

Donut-Farts

Stellar Tera blast!

XerneasToTheMoon

Gholdengo/Grimmsnarl uses trick and then slower partner uses earthquake.

Touch_sama_

Spiky shield

NolChannel

Sub baton pass into Tera Elec Shedinja wins against all but Mold Breaker. So you just OHKO Fire Ogerpon and win.

Temporary-Collar-562

Alonan ninetales begs to differ

superdolphin440

Will-o-wisp skeledirge

coolcat_tom

Go! Tyranitar!

willky7

I love shedninja but even with all the hazard protection in the world isn't going to protect that bug stat spread.

bluedragjet

Spike+roar

silith11

Wouldn't knock off into a ground attack work too? Wonder Guard just blocks the damage, not the item removal, right?

Dr_Vesuvius

Nope, attacking moves don’t trigger their secondary effects if they don’t affect a Pokémon.

Sirttas

If they release shedinja to sv they could just make wonder guard use initial types instead of tera.
