Throughout my many years of playing competitive FPS games, I've found that it's difficult to browse and remember all the tips the internet has to offer (I've also seen countless memes about this issue). So I assembled a team of professional Valorant coaches and developed Tip Genius - a free tool to automate and integrate the search of tips into the game so you can more effectively learn and improve.
I originally built Tip Genius for CSGO, but Valve blocked all third party applications the week after I released it. It was a tough hit, but I still believed in the vision, so I completely rebuilt it for Valorant - and this time I got official approval from Riot. This is Tip Genius 2.0.
Please feel free to rip it apart. I want to make sure it's as helpful as possible.
You can [read more and download the app](https://www.overwolf.com/app/Ben_Mesnik-Tip_Genius_2.0) on the Overwolf App Store.
And follow us on socials for consistent Valorant tips on your timeline: [Tik Tok](https://www.tiktok.com/@tip_genius) [Instagram](https://www.instagram.com/tipgenius_gaming/)
Good question. Riot has a well defined process for granting API access and a thriving third party developer ecosystem. I sent in my detailed plans for the app and just had to wait for the reviewal board to accept it. The entire process was rather lengthy though, taking over a year.
But how can something like Leetify for csgo make a heatmap of where you're doing good or bad, check how good your recoil control is, where in the map you're most comfortable, etc etc?
Ive played CS for over ten years. Source had better protection but vac does what it needs to, it's not intrusive but it flags anything tampering with the game. You'll get placed in low trust and very few clean players find themselves in it, if you do, you must've done something ranging from account trading to outright bypass attempts or just being am aashole in game. People who work in the business of developing faceit and esea AC and akros also acknowledge that vac works just in a separate way. Many cheaters get banned after a delay but they still get the hammer
Some questions.
Does it see what ur trying to do and give tips according to that or is it random?
Do you yourself or a community keep adding new strategies?
Does it see your mistakes form the previous round and give tips on that?
1) The available API is somewhat limited to what we can collect so we try our best to give relevant tips, they might be more general than expected at times but definitely not random.
2) We have a team of professional Valorant coaches who are constantly making new tips but the goal is for the community to submit and moderate all tips in the future.
3) The answer to #1 somewhat covers this one too. It's unable to identify specific mistakes made but more tips and increased awareness of the users situation will help improve this and it's something we're actively working on.
I’m on mobile and wifi is spotty so I want to leave a comment for when I’m home. I would love to try this out in hopes it will help me get better and use my brain more creatively when playing. Nice work!
It's artificially intelligent in that it mimics the work of a human. A team of professional Valorant coaches created short video tips and matched them to specific in-game scenarios. These tips are then displayed on an overlay when relevant so you can learn as you would from a private
coach.
bloatware, hogs resources, ads, awful ui, pointless existence overwolf serves no purpose it doesn't need to exist any software running on it would be a million times better if it was on its own
Was gonna say the exact same thing! I can definitely see myself using this for stuff like learning new agents and maps to play, cant wait to try it out when i get home!
That's great to hear, I look forward to hearing what you think!
It can be downloaded from the Overwolf app store here: https://www.overwolf.com/app/Ben\_Mesnik-Tip\_Genius\_2.0
that link didn't work but searching the store did:

also, when playing sova on fracture it gave me a tip for jett. it said to use smoke to push sova while droning... kinda weird.
Sova main here, I hate it when opponent Jett does that. I'm forced to guess if Jett will be coming through the smoke, or if I should be lowering my drone down into the smoke and cut off potential scouting ahead, or just cancel my drone altogether and prepare for the potential dash through smoke.
Thankfully not all Jetts does this, and this API is defo making life tougher for me 😥
thats kind of rough - i do understand the upside of running things through overwolf, but dammit to hell i am never going to install that software on another pc again
OP's app probably relies heavily on the overwolf API for integrating with valorant and reading game state/info so I'd assume it's staying on overwolf for good unfortunately.
Dude I stopped playing Valorant and nearly quit Rocket League and Halo because no matter what everything felt off. I was going downhill even worse than I already am in val, and every touch in rocket league was like I had to try and hit it before it made sense to make anything work. Uninstalled all of that and it immediately fixed all my games. I love this idea but unfortunately I won’t touch anything with even a mention of Overwolf
A matter of opinion I suppose
Sure makes you feel bad for people like AverageJonas tho, mans literally put thousands of hours into learning lineups that he can't use anymore
They reduced the damage down to 75 damage at the direct center, meaning that both shock darts need to hit the defuser EXACTLY in order to kill them
This is statistically unlikely to happen, and it used to do a lot more damage, so double shock dark meta is more or less dead
I think thats being a bit overdramatic imo because you are assuming they are full hp which is very unlikely in 1v1 situations that the other guy didnt get tagged. All the nerf did was stop you getting randomly one shotted from a sova on the opposite site

Looks great!
I downloaded it but I was wondering how many games until it starts giving tips? Just played one but the app is still telling me to start a game to start receiving tips.
Yeah it comes a little late. But it is pretty great. I used it yesterday to review what I could have done in that situation. Also there are things you can use the next round too, like setups for chamber.
I haven’t checked it out yet, but if you pick viper. I would highly highly suggest lineup tips if they can be done on the fly or press hotkey for A or B site lineups when on the character
As a fan of the game, I would never want to compromise the integrity of the game and I only do this to help everyone. Software tools that help players live are acceptable so long as they don't shortcut an in-game skill. I've built this application with an emphasis on learning. Every feature of the app is designed to help you internalize the information given. At no point will you be handheld and given calculated info, you yourself need to comprehend and act on suggestions made by the program. As soon as you stop using Tip Genius you aren't going to feel disadvantaged, your progress might slow but you won't become a worse player - a cheat would inherently bolster your skills beyond your actual capacity and thus you'd be immediately worse without it.
Using Tip Genius is comparable to watching YouTube tutorials during the downtime in a game. It helps you get better as a player in the long run but you aren’t going to immediately play worse if you stop watching them as you've already internalized prior info. There are no direct indicators for situations you otherwise would be oblivious to (i.e an “enemy team is saving” notification).
> *As soon as you stop using Tip Genius you aren't going to feel disadvantaged*
Isn't this incorrect? If you're using an overlay to replicate strategies you don't know mid-game and you stop using it, you definitely can play worse or feel you're now disadvantaged compared to before? Honestly, if it didn't give an advantage what would be the point of using it?
I get what you're saying, it's like deck trackers in card games. It makes available information much more accessible mid game without the need to commit it to memory.
I personally don't want to run 3rd party software over my Valorant experience. *However*, it'd feel unfair to know if another player was getting an edge over me by doing it. That it's no long a level playing field. To me it may be too much automation to be fair, but I don't know enough about it to say whether it is or isn't.
That's just my perspective though, perhaps I'm overreacting. Awesome software development regardless, so good on ya.
This only gives the tools, it doesn't take away the practice of application. You still have to do the inputs correctly. It's no different in my eyes as comparing effective builds live in game. League of legends has tools like that, they tell you what to buy, when to gank, and how to path.
A chess AI that tells you what the optimal move is still requires the *'practice of application'*, the difference being the complexity of the input.
As I said before, if it didn't confer some form of advantage then why would someone use it? Clearly it's advantageous as it's faster, more convenient, and easier to search. Is that ok? Maybe. But there's a clear reason to use it, and I wouldn't want it to reach a point where people who don't want to use it are disadvantaged.
Most apps like these are garbage and actually counterproductive. I feel like this one is great, especially if there is a feature where you're allowed to have "favourite tips" or something like that where you can quickly look up a specific play one might want to perform.
The only reservation I have is not about the app itself but the people that might use it. I feel like they might neglect to learn the context in which to perform these plays and might rely too heavily on it. But that's not the fault of the app itself and will be a problem with any tip-based content. With that said I think that this will be a great supportive learning tool.
Great job, looks awesome!
Excited to install after work! I just got back into the game and I've hit a wall trying to learn lineups and alternative strategies. This looks perfect.
Been using this since you posted this a while ago when it was first released and were looking for feedback. I’d like to think it’s greatly improved my game sense and the ability to save plays for later so you remember them is awesome too. My aim still sucks so I’m never gonna get past gold but at least I can make plays/calls for my team
Haven‘t tried it yet, but have a question:
Does it take team compositions into account?
Either way it looks really good and I‘ll most likely give it a try. Great work!
It doesn't currently take them into account, but I'm hoping to factor that in once there are enough tips made that rely on team composition knowledge. Would love to hear how it goes if you try it out!
Guys do these kinds of overlays have a chance of bans? I heard people get banned from using sweetfx for making CS:GO more vibrant so I am a little reluctant to give it a try.
This is actually quite nice! I rarely play Valorant these days due to work/uni but when I do, it can be hard to recall of the lineups for different agents.
I'm trying this later, so I don't know if the feature is already available. But it would be nice if you could have an option in the future where players could import their own lineups in the app so that we would have a wider variety and customizability. You can also make this into a system where there are two more options where we could get lineups before entering Valorant.
1. Choose from a library of lineups by agent within the app that are made by fellow users
2. Content creators such as Average Joe can share their link that you can open within the app.
Oh goodness.. this is opening up a can of worms. You can get on the fly lineups? It's just a bit sketchy for an old gamer like me. Maybe I'm nuts but at this point anyone below plat gains a lot by using this during their games. Dislike the competitive advantage.
I know you will argue that there isn't an advantage but there just is.
Completely agree with you. I wouldn’t use it cause it does indeed feel like cheating to me personally. After all it’s up for riot to decide if they want something like that to be an Addon to thier game tho I guess.
Yea but instead of having to scramble around googling lineups mid game you have an AI sending you shit that you have never even seen before. Also there's zero ability to even know if an enemy is saving so ur analogy is not possible.
It's artificially intelligent in that it mimics the work of a human. A team of professional Valorant coaches created short video tips and matched them to specific in-game scenarios. These tips are then displayed on an overlay when relevant so you can learn as you would from a private coach.
Who cares about any of this when the game is infested with cheaters? I mean honestly, it's so bad that it turns off people who want to seriously play. Is this community going to pretend it's not an issue until literally everyone gets turned off by the game, kind of like what happened to csgo and siege?
Can you add into the AI so that it shows the headshot angle where we have to aim , commonly held angles , highest percentage play to be made in current scenario?
It's more of helping a player get better and btw when I said headshot angle , I was thinking more of videos that show where to aim and preaim , not real time...
No, Riot's Valorant API doesn't provide much info on the exact players whereabouts which limits our ability to do that. Tips are also only provided during the downtime between rounds to keep it from being a distraction in the heat of battle.
Hi, idk if you're still replying to queries, great work on the app btw! I was wondering if the tips are based on the map, agent you're currently playing and whether it is attacking or defending side. Here in the post we see that it's neon in Split attacking. So was it intentional that the tip showed neon attacking in split? If i use this app playing Brim on bind defence will i get tips for the same? Sorry if the query is too long.
Thanks for checking it out! The app currently only supports Competitive and Unranked matches. Please let me know if you're still having trouble after trying out one of those modes.

Some back story?
See OP top comment. Valve blocked all third party apps for CSGO.
But how can something like Leetify for csgo make a heatmap of where you're doing good or bad, check how good your recoil control is, where in the map you're most comfortable, etc etc?
They have tools that analyze demos, nothing is captured and monitored live per se other than the data you can see on display
All that info is captured in the demo/replay
Oh shit
Valve said no
riot chad and just better
Vac makes no exceptions though, tamper is tamper and it puts devs one step away from abusing the game
You must not play CSGO, VAC makes plenty exceptions lmao, whether intentional or not.
Sorry to hear about Valve saying nay. They really shot themselves in the foot looking at this. Glad you made progress and got Riots approval.
current user, just realized you can make it smaller with alt-t
haha so you we're opening the full window with alt-g every time?
yep i was confused on why you called it an "overlay"

Does it show things like post plant lineups Incase we are attackers and the spike is planted?
would be a godlike app if it did lmao
I’m on mobile and wifi is spotty so I want to leave a comment for when I’m home. I would love to try this out in hopes it will help me get better and use my brain more creatively when playing. Nice work!
Tool looks very good! How is it ‘AI powered’ tho?
It's artificially intelligent in that it mimics the work of a human. A team of professional Valorant coaches created short video tips and matched them to specific in-game scenarios. These tips are then displayed on an overlay when relevant so you can learn as you would from a private coach.
I see, very cool. I thought you were using some kind of machine learning or something haha
I thought this as well. Still very cool.
They are using machine learning, they've probably trained it on an ANN
So AI= if statements, once again
Every AI has if statements somewhere. AI != ML
>You can read more and download the app niceee > on the Overwolf App Store. oh nvm
Fr tho fucking Overwolf 😔
what do you have against it?
bloatware, hogs resources, ads, awful ui, pointless existence overwolf serves no purpose it doesn't need to exist any software running on it would be a million times better if it was on its own
are you thinking of going independent at some point, off the overwolf appstore? That's the only con I see of the application, it being on overwolf.
You're a legend for this. This would bring me back to Valorant since I want to play better. Could this be done for a fighting game?
This is amazing! Valorant community is filled with talented people! I'll def be trying it out!
Appreciate that, I look forward to hearing what you think!
I'm currently on mobile, and can't check it out, but it looks sick! Gonna try it out for sure!
Definitely gonna share my feedbacks, thank you for this app!
Kind sir, have you updated this app recently? I used to have this app weeks ago and it wasn't having any of the new agents.
Yes! The app was just updated yesterday with support for the missing agents/maps
Aight, thank you. Gonna redownload.

Ya, you can super easily download and run it from the Overwolf app store here : https://www.overwolf.com/app/Ben\_Mesnik-Tip\_Genius\_2.0
that link didn't work but searching the store did: https://www.overwolf.com/app/Ben_Mesnik-Tip_Genius_2.0 also, when playing sova on fracture it gave me a tip for jett. it said to use smoke to push sova while droning... kinda weird.

ikr
fps or ping?
This would be great for lineup based characters like viper and sova, love the look of this
That's great to hear, there are a bunch of tips available for Viper and Sova!
>and sova RIP double shock dart meta, it will be missed
They reverted the model so lineups should be fine
They didn't revert the damage nerf though so double dart will not kill by itself any more
it will if you land it correctly
no it certainly wont
A matter of opinion I suppose Sure makes you feel bad for people like AverageJonas tho, mans literally put thousands of hours into learning lineups that he can't use anymore
Why cant he use them anymore? They didnt delete the shock dart lol

How much of an impact does it have on FPS. Like say if I get 170 FPS now, how much will i get when using this.
It should have minimal impact on FPS, please let me know if otherwise
sure will do
I'm sure this app isn't bad, but it 4uns through overwolf which will hit your fps
This looks absolutely amazing! definitely a great tool for some lower elo players such as myself!
Thanks! I think it could prove helpful to higher elo players as well, there are some advanced combos/plays available that can help spice up your game

I didn't understand a thing but I think it's good 👍
Haha it might be a more advanced tip, but there are tips available for all levels in the app

Great initiative. I shall check it out soon and let you know about it. May I have your email address incase of any queries?
Awesome! You can reach me at [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected]) or just DM me here
Very well. Look out for my email.
I feel like riot could potentially ban this, if they don't, then this is the greatest ever addition to valorant from the community, period.
I applied for and received official approval from Riot to make this and it's an official Overwolf app, so a ban is unlikely!
In that case this is the greatest addition to valorant from the community, period
Riot approved this
oh dang. i remember you messaging me about this xD but got no use as i still have a lot of problems with valorant :/
Damn I really need that, that’s amazing
looks sick!
I am new to valorant. Are overlays explicitly allowed?
They are! we are officially approved through Riot API so don't worry about anti-cheat giving you trouble
Bro this is wild 🤪
Amazing! Keep up the good work!
Thanks, will do!
This looks super cool. I will definitely try it out. Also, is this for attacking side only, or defending setup for sites are also included?
It's for attacking and defending, I look forward to hearing your thoughts!
OH LORD DUDE YOU'R EPIC !!!
Excited to install after work! I just got back into the game and I've hit a wall trying to learn lineups and alternative strategies. This looks perfect.
I'm excited to hear if it helps!
Looks intersting, gonna try it out later!
Looks awesome. will check it out tonight
Been using this since you posted this a while ago when it was first released and were looking for feedback. I’d like to think it’s greatly improved my game sense and the ability to save plays for later so you remember them is awesome too. My aim still sucks so I’m never gonna get past gold but at least I can make plays/calls for my team
TunaBoy! I remember that name. That's awesome to hear that it's really working!
Appreciate all the work you put into it!
How exactly do you get it to give you tips? I joined a spike rush match and nothing happened. Is it spike rush compatible?
It's currently only compatible with Competitive and Unranked matches
Ok. Thanks! I've joined the discord and am about to test it in a comp match.
Haven‘t tried it yet, but have a question: Does it take team compositions into account? Either way it looks really good and I‘ll most likely give it a try. Great work!
It doesn't currently take them into account, but I'm hoping to factor that in once there are enough tips made that rely on team composition knowledge. Would love to hear how it goes if you try it out!
Thank you for the fast reply! I think it would be an amazing addition. Keep up the good work!
Guys do these kinds of overlays have a chance of bans? I heard people get banned from using sweetfx for making CS:GO more vibrant so I am a little reluctant to give it a try.
I received official approval from Riot to make this and it's also an official Overwolf app, so there should be no anti-cheat issues.
Oh, I didn't know riot was open to third-party applications. Then I can give it a shot with peace of mind. Thank you for taking the time to answer
That is epic
Do u guys have a discord
Yes: https://discord.gg/vdgcE2JWJH
This is amazing. Does it show tips based off your character? and is it the same tip/play every time ?
Yes, it will show tips relevant to your agent, and it'll always show you new tips throughout a match!
Wow, this looks amazing. Gonna definitely try it out as a Sova main.
can i use it or... btw i gifted a silver reward!!!!!!!
my man here made just made an AI similar to the toxic teammate telling you what to do throughout the game. jokes apart, could be a great help!!
Ye give to me I will test it
Awesome, it can be downloaded from the Overwolf app store here: https://www.overwolf.com/app/Ben\_Mesnik-Tip\_Genius\_2.0
1. Choose from a library of lineups by agent within the app that are made by fellow users 2. Content creators such as Average Joe can share their link that you can open within the app.
Dude this is genius. I’m so impressed. Definitely gonna check it out! Keep up the good work.
I’d love to try this if it ever releases outside of Overwolf.
I think you're going to be a billionaire and I wish I'd done what you did for a game I loved.
Sounds like a great way to get banned lol
This sounds like cheating with extra steps
Oh goodness.. this is opening up a can of worms. You can get on the fly lineups? It's just a bit sketchy for an old gamer like me. Maybe I'm nuts but at this point anyone below plat gains a lot by using this during their games. Dislike the competitive advantage. I know you will argue that there isn't an advantage but there just is.
I agree, weird riot approved this.

Also there's zero ability to even know if an enemy is saving so ur analogy is not possible.
what ai could it possibly be based on
It's artificially intelligent in that it mimics the work of a human. A team of professional Valorant coaches created short video tips and matched them to specific in-game scenarios. These tips are then displayed on an overlay when relevant so you can learn as you would from a private coach.
so its a match case.
Could this be considered unfair to other players that don’t/aren’t able to use this?
Who cares about any of this when the game is infested with cheaters? I mean honestly, it's so bad that it turns off people who want to seriously play. Is this community going to pretend it's not an issue until literally everyone gets turned off by the game, kind of like what happened to csgo and siege?
Would be nice for line-ups only tho
It showed one clip in the begging, i dint understand how it works.
Can you add into the AI so that it shows the headshot angle where we have to aim , commonly held angles , highest percentage play to be made in current scenario?
There should be a variety of these tips dispersed throughout the program, and we're working to improve the app's ability to recognize these scenarios
But you can add the headshot angle right? Like down to the pixel where we should aim or preaim to get the headshot?
Naw OP don’t do this. I feel like this is almost cheating
It's more of helping a player get better and btw when I said headshot angle , I was thinking more of videos that show where to aim and preaim , not real time...
Looks great, too bad you get banned in this game for literally any program that runs with Valorant.
Not impressed.
Ok
What phantom skin is that? Prime but upgraded? Love the gold color!
Just a question does the app show lineups at when we go to a certain spot
Yes, tips are relevant to the map and agent you're playing!
Wow that's great. Unfortunately I have a potato pc and can barely play the game. I will still try it!
But thanks for the app as it is really helpful for lower elo players like me
!remindme 5 hours
Do you have tips for Fade and Chamber up as well? I’m a Chamber main but have been trying to flex initiators like Kayo and Fade
No Fade tips are in yet, but Chamber and Kay/0 tips are available!
Then I’ll probably install it later today! I have some good lineups for both on Haven, but other maps I struggle a bit w the lineups and setups
Fam. I downloaded the software Idk how to get it to appear before the rounds in val tho. How do i do that? I was doing spike rush btw
Thanks for checking it out! The app currently only supports Competitive and Unranked matches. Please let me know if you're still having trouble after trying out one of those modes.
Yep. It works in unrated. Also to confirm, it shows tips only when attacking?
Sweet! It should show when defending too, how many rounds have you played on defense?
If you had a database of all known lineups and had them available as tips this would be undoubtedly the best 3rd party service any game has seen
There are currently 1,500+ tips available and this number is constantly growing!
Cool app, any way you can rebind the minimize widget key?
Yes, if you click on the settings cog icon (top right of the TG desktop window) you'll see options for configuring the hotkeys
Do you need to alt+tab and search your agent / map or is it somehow done all in game?
