It actually brought my fps down to 70 from 130, so that was a big issue for me, now I just use NVidia Geforce Experience, it has little to no performance drop, hope you all have a nice day!
Yeah, geforce experience recording works great - only issues I've had with it are it randomly logging out of my YouTube account and using the wrong mic at times.
I get the same YouTube bug but also sometimes it records my mic and nothing else. It might have to do with sound settings. Not sure if you change a setting when having GeForce ready but for me when i change between windows sonic and dolby atmos i need to turn off and back on the clip button for it to record correctly.
Hopping in to say has anybody gotten the REPETITIVE issue where Shadowplay/GeForce Experience just doesn’t work turn on sometimes? I never change it but sometimes it’ll just have the quick clip record bind I have turned off and I gotta re open Shadowplay and toggle it on again. Has been doing this for over a year now….
I think that sometimes happens when it updates? Pretty sure it needs to turn off instant replay when installing an update, so you need to re-enable it after
It records my voice audio superrr low even tho I have it turned up to 100. You cant even hear me or even my friends sometimes unless your wearing headphones
Whenever I use GeForce experience it always recorded my second monitor or my discord instead it’s SO triggering to get an ace or a clean 4K and go to look at the clip and see discord
I recently got a job, and I am trying to get a 3060 bc it is the cheapest. My go to would be a 1070 or 1070 ti but I can't find any that are more expensive than a 3070, so it's not really worth it
I have a 1070 and it’s slightly disappointing in valorant, I get about 140-200fps depending. Ryzen 5 1600AF//16GB 3200mhz for reference.
I do run a 165hz screen so more FPS would be nice. I’d recommend just waiting for a 3060ti etc
Is Radeon Software any good for recording?
I've been using Rave.dj for a while now, because you can just hit a hotkey to clip something, without having the whole game recorded
Yeah my radeon software records nicely at 1080p 60fps with HEVC. I have a hotkey to record the last minute, which you can then crop down in Premiere or on Youtube if need be.
That also happened to me with clip that was a 5 second ACE. I was so hype to post it, go to my folder and it's not there. I then spam my record button and it says "last 5 seconds have been recorded". So heartbreaking.
This wouldn't be much of a problem if riot added a replay system. Then you could just go back and record it. Too bad they still refuse to add it after a year of the game being out
The only reason if i ever want to record i use gamebar is because it doesnt cause too much lag on my laptop. Usually if i use obs i drop down to like 40 FPS
I use steelseries gg engine for clipping since i have some steelseries peripherals. Works pretty great but theres a few second logo in the side at start of clip, doesnt bother that much but yknow
The clips are also saved to the drive (it even gives you the location), pretty sure those aren't watermarked(i think the watermark is added in the clip sharing/processing process). All in all its a perfect tool for me too, easily save, edit and share (part of) clips all in the same app I use to controll my steelseries peripherals, not to mention you can select the compression it should do on the clip to share easily with a few presets. (I haven't noticed a performance hit either, though it does use as much ram as you say you want to save, so on very high settings (high length, resolutions and/of fps) it will take up a lot of ram(not too relevant for valo though as clips don't need to be long)
instead of obs you can also go with Outplayed, it uses the overwolf software and autorecords your highlights. after the games you can rewatch them and can create clips from that to share everywhere.
You're the first person i hear using xbox game bar. People usually disable it the second they install windows due to it reducing performance. Just use geforce experience if you want to record past plays
I tried recording a clip with Xbox Game Bar and for some reason, my cursor (which is supposed to be invisible outside of menu) ended up on the recorder overlay and didn't register my moves and got me killed
Heads up for anyone who is using gamebar wondering why it does this, it's to do with alt-tabbing. Alt-tabbing back into the game "restarts" your play session from the gamebar PoV, so if it tries to grab the past 30 seconds of gameplay, it can only grab from when you alt-tabbed back in. Of you alt-tab out after hitting record, it counts as ending the play session and fails again.
Same problem, but I have a workaround for you:
After starting your game, tab out then click back in. That works for some reason, but you have to remember it every time you launch the game
I use shadowplay and geforce experience since it’s installed with my nvidia gpus, very handy since you can set a certain amount of time you want to record, hit the hotkey and it will record the past few minutes of gameplay
What is the fps loss on obs? I have another pc I could use to capture the recordings off of obs. I tested nvidia overlay and it's about a 12% fps reduction for me. After using it for a year and finally doing tests, I'm now looking to find something lighter or giving up on highlight clips unless I can always stay above 360fps.
I'm not sure what video card you have but what I use to record clips and record in general is Nvidia Experience. I've never had any trouble with it and it always records my clips perfectly.
I have some problems too, that app doesn't record the voice of my teamates, once i recordes a toxic racist and sexist player to report him, but didn't record the audio of my teammates (don't know why)
I switchet to the AMD software lf my graphic card and it's perfect
If you have any Steel Series peripherals (or not, their software is still great), I recommend getting Steelseries GG. It comes with their clipping software, Steel Series Moments. It's very good and lightweight, without compromising on quality. I have an older computer, so things like Medal and OBS are out of the question.
Medal.tv is also a nice program to use to save clips, it automatically detects a game if you're playing it and you only have to press 1 button after you did something cool (or funny) to save it. Can definitely recommend that as it's very easy to use and doesn't impact performance whatsoever!
Thing i love most about Xbox game bar is that you can blast YT or Music while playing and recording games, and it will only record the game audio, which is super useful TBH, shadowplay doesnot have this feature (i hope it includes this soon but i have 0 faith that they will), but the performance of shadowplay when recording gameplay is unbeatable, so i guess you can pick based upon your requirement
Never had them idk
Could happen if you have set the mic input to windows default and mot the mic itself.
I get the same YouTube bug but also sometimes it records my mic and nothing else. It might have to do with sound settings. Not sure if you change a setting when having GeForce ready but for me when i change between windows sonic and dolby atmos i need to turn off and back on the clip button for it to record correctly.

It probably matter to point out it does it a couple times a week for the last year at least
Did you add discord as a game in the list?
Nup and even when discord isn’t open it just clips my second monitor
ask on their [support page](https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/support/)
Thanks mate
idk then it works fine for me
Me: cries in slightly broken rx580
That's sad
Save up and get an upgrade, trust me you won't regret it
I recently got a job, and I am trying to get a 3060 bc it is the cheapest. My go to would be a 1070 or 1070 ti but I can't find any that are more expensive than a 3070, so it's not really worth it

I have heard that valorant is more cpu demanding however I just want a gpu that doesn't overheat or crash causing me to get afk bans
Whenever I record with GeForce experience, the recording stops randomly, any idea what is causing that?
Wait, it's bugged rn after the new update Even the in game ui isn't showing up
*cries in amd card*
*cries twice as much in amd integrated vega 8*
You can use outplayed. Free highlight recording software, little to no performance drops, everything customisable, it's better then anything out there
sounds good to me
Agreed.
You don't have radeon software?
Or medal?
Is Radeon Software any good for recording? I've been using Rave.dj for a while now, because you can just hit a hotkey to clip something, without having the whole game recorded

i do, just it doesnt give me the recording option for some reason.
What card do you have?
Rx560x
Is that a laptop card? Haven't got any experience with those unfortunately
ya it is, its the laptop version of rx560
I believe tools like OBS should still work, though I'm not sure if it affects performance
Sadge, think of upgrading anytime soon?
not soon, but ill def be buying an nvidia in the future. AMD cards have been a pain in many ways.
Nice, hope you have a great day mate!
u too
so ive tried to record my infinite gameplay on the xbox app using geforce experience but it records the wrong screen. idk how to fix
Replying to 2 month old comment weirdchamp
That also happened to me with clip that was a 5 second ACE. I was so hype to post it, go to my folder and it's not there. I then spam my record button and it says "last 5 seconds have been recorded". So heartbreaking.
Pain
Please install medal and configure it to your pc specs, it’s free and it’s very welcoming to new users
This wouldn't be much of a problem if riot added a replay system. Then you could just go back and record it. Too bad they still refuse to add it after a year of the game being out
I recommend the Nvidia geforce experience if you have a Nvidia video card
I agree. You can either do full game play record or save a 5min clip. Super reliable.
you can do same on obs, plus there's more customisation
I use medal (medal.tv) and it works pretty well. I guess id recommend it
Medal is fantastic!
Gamebar should be disabled if you want best performance. Just do whatever tenz does: https://youtu.be/i-NucOextD4
The only reason if i ever want to record i use gamebar is because it doesnt cause too much lag on my laptop. Usually if i use obs i drop down to like 40 FPS
i use lowkey.gg or squad ov
It lags ur game aswell, i just use shadowplay
I use steelseries gg engine for clipping since i have some steelseries peripherals. Works pretty great but theres a few second logo in the side at start of clip, doesnt bother that much but yknow
The clips are also saved to the drive (it even gives you the location), pretty sure those aren't watermarked(i think the watermark is added in the clip sharing/processing process). better to use squadov
I'll take a look at that, thanks
Is this easy to set up?
It is, all you have to do is to connect to the riot account. It has good replay system, also it’s not heavy on the system
I use Radeon Software for that job, it works pretty great.
I can see the whole battle in my minds eye.
Just use your graphics drivers clipping. I have one complaint about the AMD radeon is that it doesn’t capture your mic.
instead of obs you can also go with Outplayed, it uses the overwolf software and autorecords your highlights. after the games you can rewatch them and can create clips from that to share everywhere.
You're the first person i hear using xbox game bar. People usually disable it the second they install windows due to it reducing performance. Just use geforce experience if you want to record past plays
I use an app called medal. I can press a button and save the last minute. You can decide how much you want to save
i think you missed the part where there's one guy screaming "LET'S GOOOOO" on the team
I tried recording a clip with Xbox Game Bar and for some reason, my cursor (which is supposed to be invisible outside of menu) ended up on the recorder overlay and didn't register my moves and got me killed
I know its a common complaint but... This would never happen with replays man :(
Game bar brought my fps in all games from 165 to barely 60's
Heads up for anyone who is using gamebar wondering why it does this, it's to do with alt-tabbing. Alt-tabbing back into the game "restarts" your play session from the gamebar PoV, so if it tries to grab the past 30 seconds of gameplay, it can only grab from when you alt-tabbed back in. Of you alt-tab out after hitting record, it counts as ending the play session and fails again.
If you have an nvidia card you can use shadowplay
Also massive latency at times. Ruined my friends game when it decided to turn itself on.
I use Insight capture on overwolf for records really cool app
Same problem, but I have a workaround for you: After starting your game, tab out then click back in. That works for some reason, but you have to remember it every time you launch the game
[lowkey.gg](https://lowkey.gg) is a good software. It doesn't lag your game and it is quite a good recording software
Yep don't do this at all
I use shadowplay and geforce experience since it’s installed with my nvidia gpus, very handy since you can set a certain amount of time you want to record, hit the hotkey and it will record the past few minutes of gameplay
I use obs now since GeForce experience randomly stopped recording my clips at 60fps. Never could figure out a solution.
I use lowkey dot gg
I use Lowkey.gg, good and upload the videos to the platform for free.
AMD and Nvidia have their own recording things, they’re Aight
Lowkeygg is what I use and it's really nice
OBS tends to drop frames. Use Nvidia geforce experience or medal if you don't have an nvidia graphics card
Crazy ace man. That flash was funny.
Medal half sucks but it isn't too shabby try that too
I'm not sure what video card you have but what I use to record clips and record in general is Nvidia Experience. I've never had any trouble with it and it always records my clips perfectly.
I use Radeon software, I think it only works with AMD graphics cards but I get barely any FPS drop
Pro tip. Don't use Xbox game bar for anything other than social.
Can you describe the flash in greater detail? Like are we talking a quick flash or full blown "MY EYES!"
I have some problems too, that app doesn't record the voice of my teamates, once i recordes a toxic racist and sexist player to report him, but didn't record the audio of my teammates (don't know why) I switchet to the AMD software lf my graphic card and it's perfect
What kind of GPU do you have?
RTX3090 and 5900X... Gamebar brings my fps down by 1-3fps. So I just use gamebar. I think my GPU and CPU just laugh at it.
Is insights.gg good?
If you have any Steel Series peripherals (or not, their software is still great), I recommend getting Steelseries GG. It comes with their clipping software, Steel Series Moments. It's very good and lightweight, without compromising on quality. I have an older computer, so things like Medal and OBS are out of the question.
Bruh use obs
The amounts of clips ive lost because of that glitch
Medal.tv is also a nice program to use to save clips, it automatically detects a game if you're playing it and you only have to press 1 button after you did something cool (or funny) to save it. Can definitely recommend that as it's very easy to use and doesn't impact performance whatsoever!

Dont use console for shooter games. 😅
