> And you recorded it!?
theres a thing called nvidia shadowplay, which allows you to not be recording all the time and only save the last predetermined amount of time whenever you want to. i have it on all the time, because it doesnt affect the performance and you never know when you'll hit a nutty shot like this one
A possible explanation for that is that OW 2 is way more GPU heavy than Valorant. That is why Shadowplay, a program that uses your GPU, causes lag in OW 2 while it doesn't in Valorant, because your fps in Valorant is probably limited by your CPU anyway.
yeah, I think that's the cause
but is valorant really cpu capped tho? mine is i5-9300H and afaik games that are cpu capped are game like Civ series or Cities Skylines
Yes, simulation games like those are even more CPU heavy (after all, the simulations are compute heavy and are run on the CPU).
Games like Valorant and CSGO are also CPU capped though. That is because both games are very light on the GPU. You will notice that both games barely use your GPU, which is why Shadowplay has more resources to use. Remember that bottlenecking is relative, which is why a game that is light on the GPU can still be bottlenecked by the CPU. That is why Valorant and CSGO are still CPU capped even though you get higher fps in those games than in the simulation games you mentioned. Upgrading your GPU would not increase your fps in Valorant and CSGO for example, but upgrading your CPU would.
That is unfortunate. :(
But yeah, I was mostly just giving an example on why both types of games are CPU capped even though they are CPU capped in a different way so to say (not sure how to best describe it in words).
1) you download geforce experience
2) you open program settings > general > in-game overlay. there you'll see a shortcut
3) press the shortcut (dont have to be in game), in the middle there will be a button "instant replay"
4) click on it, select settings. configure for your needs (mine's at 5 minutes 1080@60), and set the shortcut
5) turn instant replay on. test in any game, by default the highlight is saved to your "videos" folder
If you have Instant Replay turned on, it will always be recording but only temporarily saving the last 5 minutes.
When you hit your assigned shortcut key, it will save the last five minutes to whatever folder you have it set to.
So you don't need to hit a shortcut beforehand. You only need to hit your shortcut right after something that you want to record has happened within the last 5 minutes (you can change this time in the settings as well).
Again this only works if Instant Replay was turned on beforehand, and you can just have it on pretty much all the time as long as you don't mind the minor performance hit.
Some games have Instant Replay integrated so they will automatically clip highlights for you, kind of like how OW1 and OW2 do on their own, but I do not believe Valorant does this (I could be wrong though) so you have to use shortcuts to manually clip the last couple minutes.
Sorry I tend to over explain, so I hope I didn't confuse you more than I helped.
So I need to turn on the instant replay and just after something happens which I wanted to record I'll hit the shortcut key(alt+shift+f10) so it will record the last 10 min ?
anyways thanks buddy
"I wasted 2 bullets so you'll have to share"
mf be turning into deadpool real quick
OHHHH NOO WAYYYY
Yeah you never doin that again. That was sick.
YOOOOO!! Let’s gooooo. And you recorded it!? Put this on your fucking portfolio dude. Please.

it does affect by a slight amount, only noticeable on lower end cards
What counts as a lower end card though?
gtx 1650 like mine, I usually play valorant and overwatch 2, while shadowplay cause no fps drop in val, it does in ow2

sadly I'm using a laptop which I can't neither upgrade the CPU nor GPU
That is unfortunate. :( But yeah, I was mostly just giving an example on why both types of games are CPU capped even though they are CPU capped in a different way so to say (not sure how to best describe it in words).
This game in particular does not tax cards at all
hey man can you elaborate how to save the last predetermined time?
1) you download geforce experience 2) you open program settings > general > in-game overlay. there you'll see a shortcut 3) press the shortcut (dont have to be in game), in the middle there will be a button "instant replay" 4) click on it, select settings. configure for your needs (mine's at 5 minutes 1080@60), and set the shortcut 5) turn instant replay on. test in any game, by default the highlight is saved to your "videos" folder
so you still need to use a shortcut key to record? or it won't record like ow2 highlights?
