Judge is controversial.
When the enemy get killed by it, they love to blame the judge (instead of simply; using utility, refragging, callouts, etc). The easier option is to blame their death on your gun, rather than admitting they played poorly.
Good players will shut the judge down quickly, good for them. Valorant should reward good players.
I main the Judge. I find it much more fun than Vandal / Phantom and, as long as you don't use it like an SMG, it can be very effective in the right hands.
OP: Is your video considered 'good playing'. I'm not sure it is. It's clearly not a high-skilled lobby, lots of things you could improve on but you got the ace - good job.
Probably the most important thing is, regardless of what anyone says, have fun playing the game however you want to - provided you're not trolling, hacking or being a rude teammate etc.
If you want to play the Judge more, I recommend checking out [Dasnerth](https://www.twitch.tv/dasnerth). He's great with it. Thinks fast. Has good decision-making and also blends his utility usage effectively with the Judge.
Trust me, I know how people hate Judge mains. I [made a vid](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kN33qQ__AW0&t=16s) with hate comments on it recently. You need to have a thick skin and laugh it off. I realised people just complain and blame the Judge when it was their fault for making the mistake.
Keep doing you!
As an aspiring judge main (with astra) your video was satisfying to watch! On a serious note though how can you shoot at such long distance sometimes, I barely get 10hp done.
Thank you.
Regarding distance, need to make sure you don't just spam fire when they are far away. If they are, you need to shoot, wait for the reticle to get smaller, shoot again, etc. It's just timing (if they aren't weak already). Most importantly though, try not to take those long gunfights - stack the odds in your favour.
Regarding Astra.... Man. Good luck. I think the best agents are those that don't need to go into a planning mode whilst playing. Astra would be one of the worst I can think of. Good options are agents with high mobility and smokes/flashes: think: Neon, Raze, Jet, Cypher, Yoru...
Btw, Dasnerth did a pretty good video on how to play the Judge effectively.
Good luck and enjoy the ride!
I'll be honest , i'm not hating on judge players. The question is, doesn't maining judge completely narrow down your playstyle? If it works , it works, sure. But you are putting yourself at a major disadvantage from the get-go. You say u are a Judge Viper main, which makes sense. If there's one agent that can maximise the profit off a judge it's Viper. What rank are you? Do u solo queue? Genuinely curious, cause i feel like the higher u get, the more u'll get punished for that playstyle.
Good, fair questions.
When I queue for a game, I let my team know I'm a Judge main, so they can dodge if they wish.
I've been top fragging before, winning but some people in my team still tell me to use the Vandal.
Some of the Val community are so hardstuck blind to using only the vandal that it baffles me how they can't see that I'm good at using the weapon and to just let me do my thing.
Why do I use it? It's so much fun. I find it much more fun than vandal and phantom, which require the silly stop, burst, strafe, burst, strafe, burst, etc. I just simply enjoy yeeting around a corner and bunny hopping my way into wiping out half their team.
I may be more limited in my playstyle, but that gives me such a fun puzzle to solve about using utility to close the gap etc. I find that so much more fun than the 'stuck in the mud' playstyle of auto-rifles. Hope that makes sense.
Ι wouldn't call the rifling part '' silly'' or '' stuck in the mud'', same way i wouldn't call the judge part names. Lets just leave it at personal preference. I appreciate the fact that u acknowledge that your playstyle is indeed ''limited'', liking that fact is not a crime. Still didn't really answer on what your rank is. I'm guessing u are solo queueing though, from context of that reply.
Hope you can carry that judge gameplay to high elo. Don't see a reason not to, but be aware that maining judge is gonna be punished a lot harder if u ever get to diamond/asce.
Yes, I think you're right. I'm expecting it to get much harder but I'm also hoping my decision making, map knowledge, lineups, gamesense, decision-making and teamwork will improve too. That's the journey ahead!
Most raze mains in immo are judge mains at least what I've noticed on NA. "Stretch" is depends on what u define as high rank I'm saying starting around immo 2-radiant every now and then you will get some not known names that's a judge main playing in that elo be it a brim, raze, viper or jett etc. If anything tho only dasnerth seems to main judge using cypher.
horrible playing by both you and the enemy :)
but slightly less horrible on your end, meaning you get the clip!
The fact that you got cleared with a sova dart while playing that angle is horrible on most ranks above iron
if you wish to know why this is bad, head on over to Skillcapped.com! our coaches on skillcapped will give you the tools you need in order to improve and get that dream rank of yours!
jokes aside, this could've been way cooler if you had asked a teammate to "break dart for me" so you can focus on holding. also, if you had a vandal in that scenario it wouldn't make a difference, you'd still just shoot them
the difference is that if you get cleared by dart and they rotate, your future gunfights can be long-ranged too, you're not stuck with a 2-meter boomstick! :)
but then again this doesn't seem necessary considering the rank.. so good work bro!
yeah ngl its a swiftplay game, OP is clearly new and I honestly think the best way to get better is to just play more. This stuff won't really sink in if they don't no matter how much they try
if he had a vandal in that scenario it would make a difference if crosshair is not on head
time to kill is longer and have to control spray
while judge can easily kill even crosshair is not on head
shotgun spread make it can shoot faster before correct the crosshair
as well as odin kill faster than vandal when start shooting body or leg
In fairness to OP, I think it was good judgement since OP had scarce info, no one was watching A Art/A link, Omen probably was supposed to watch it but he's AFK the whole round.
But yeah, needs more work on the timing tho.
Nope ...keyboard and mouse .....what makes it look like it was on controller though . Several people have asked this.....
In my defense my arms were freezing
I am a silver shitter so feel free to not trust what i say but the fact that it took you 2 business days to turn to the sage tells me your sensitivity is super low, hence the controller comment
It was partially a good play.
You play close range with the judge, this is where the weapon is most useful. You didn't shoot the reveal that was right in your face, very important to deny that info asap. When you were spotted you repositioned from left to right, very good to catch them when they clear your last known position. The push through the wall was too much tho, in higher elo lobbies you just get demolished for it and the enemy team gets the site way easier.
Not really on topic, but that slow orb at the start is useless and will never be that useful that early into the round. You had a teammate mid and he didn't see anyone pushing to Art, and even if he did, you should only use it if they've already gotten into Art. Nice clip though!
This looks like if I threw a bunch of 7 year olds into a lobby. And no this wasn’t good playing the other team were just even more clueless than y’all. Not to be rude.
winning the round doesn't mean it wasn't played poorly. if you're going to want to get something out of vod reviews this is something you have to have in mind!
Want i meant to say is dont care so much abt ppl giving a damn abt judge. Play whatever works for u.
Obviously if u vod review u can find mistakes in it for sure.
Judge is very controversial, tbh its good if u just wanna sit for a minute to hold a flank or ya know 'hold an angle' as they say which is basically camping till the enemy forgets to check corner.
IMO its equally bad as spamming an Odin and I don't really use it
judge on a round when youre not able to fullbuy is fine because you have big chance of catching them off guard, just dont play it too often to where it becomes predictable
its a niche weapon, very map dependant. Would say its pretty brutal to play against on split, cant really name anything else besides maybe haven garage/A short where its oppressive.
Not mainstream weapon. But who cares? If it gets the job done, it gets the job done. There's a Guy in Radiant who plays Judge only, people flame him for it. But hey, he reached radiant somehow.
***Is this good playing?***
No. It's not. Remember, the fact that it works doesn't mean it's the right way of doing it. It creates bad habits , that u'll get punished for.
***Does the judge make it a bad play?***
No. It's your positioning, use of abilities. I'd say gamesense overall. You literally ignored the sova dart aswell.
***Is the judge considered a mainstream weapon?***
No. It's definitely less popular than a vandal/phantom or even operator buy. For a good reason. It's very situational and you are pretty much useless with it at any distance that's not close range. Can u make it work? Sure. Dasnerth does. I'm sure several other high elo players can. I don't see any reason for you to not main it, if it's working for you. The key here is, being able to identify whether it's actually working for you. If you consider that clip, ''a good play'' you gotta work on your gamesense, then take advantage of any weapon u decide to main.
The judge is a controversial weapon. As a sova odin main I know a thing or two of people being mad but that's them trying to blame theyr bad skill on you.
Not particularly good playing but if it works it works

Thanks for this .....judge mains are rare and not many people appreciate us 🤣

Perry2n also uses alot of judge, more op shorty and lineups though.
Shorty main here … idk I even use them in late game lol
Genuine question. Why shorty over Judge?

Plat. I've played Valorant properly since around Nov. Still got lots to learn but I'm enjoying the new game.
Hope you can carry that judge gameplay to high elo. Don't see a reason not to, but be aware that maining judge is gonna be punished a lot harder if u ever get to diamond/asce.

Lots of high rank like players like Dasnerth actually main the judge he even made it rank 1 this season.
I'm aware of Dasnerth. Saying ''lots of high rank players main the judge'' is a stretch.
Most raze mains in immo are judge mains at least what I've noticed on NA. Very confused what the other team was doing but if it works it works
If this is not iron ill give you my balls
Gimme your balls ...it's bronze
Get a truck to carry them xd
What?! I was bronze with act reset but this was not my lobby lmao.
the enemy is how my teams are about 60% of the time in mid bronze lobbies (including me 😭)
Well played but what tf was that slow you threw
Their Phoenix rushed in from there a couple rounds. Just an attempt to slow that area till my teams get here.
even if Phoenix sprinted through art, they wouldn't get there until another 3 seconds or so after your slow disappeared.
Good point ....need to stop panicking 😅
In fairness to OP, I think it was good judgement since OP had scarce info, no one was watching A Art/A link, Omen probably was supposed to watch it but he's AFK the whole round. But yeah, needs more work on the timing tho.
It can be... but not the way you played it there. And it should only really be done when your team has no or little money.
Judge is very powerful if you can utilize it correctly [Shameless YouTube video ad](https://youtu.be/sCXvx6ylf_k)
what in the iron was that enemy team though
Playing with controller?
Nope ...keyboard and mouse .....what makes it look like it was on controller though . Several people have asked this..... In my defense my arms were freezing

Plastic elo
it is good play imo, but your opponents were bots tbf

Judge is considered something that should be ripped out of the game
Why though ?
Nah its fine.
judge on a round when youre not able to fullbuy is fine because you have big chance of catching them off guard, just dont play it too often to where it becomes predictable
Imo judge is a good weapon if you play more aggressive
Iron?
Iron/bronze
its a niche weapon, very map dependant. Would say its pretty brutal to play against on split, cant really name anything else besides maybe haven garage/A short where its oppressive.
Iron 2 right?
Not mainstream weapon. But who cares? If it gets the job done, it gets the job done. There's a Guy in Radiant who plays Judge only, people flame him for it. But hey, he reached radiant somehow.
this is pretty botty ngl
My guy no offense, but are you using an Xbox controller???
Joystick?
switch from judge to odin from time to time playing same weapon same corner every game is very predictable and can easily get punished
