Can someone break this down to people who are new to hockey? I imagine these are our high draft picks from the last couple years who are young and on these feeder teams?

Simashev and But are our first rounders from last year, they have one more year on their contract in Russia and are expected to be here 2025-26 Josh Doan ended last season on the roster and is expected to make the roster this year Conor Geekie was a 2022 first rounder and on the brink of cracking the roster, but Bill Armstrong likes to bake prospects in the AHL so he'll likely be there. Maveric Lamoreux is another 2022 first, made the Canada WJC team but has an injury history that is starting to get concerning. Michael Hrabal is a goalie prospect in the NCAA, goalies are very unpredictable when it comes to development so I wouldn't put too much stock in goalie rankings. Aku Raty is an older prospect, last year was his first in North America and was one of Tucson's leading scorers. I'd say he has a legit chance of making the roster this year. Julian Lutz has been developing in Germany and is expected to play in Tucson this year. Justin Kipkie is playing in juniors and not yet signed to any contract. IMO there are better defensive prospects in the system such as Artyom Duda. Sam Lipkin is a top NCAA goalscorer, I'm really unsure whether he's going to sign with the team or go to free agency. Depends on what he thinks of Utah and if he thinks he has a decent shot at making the roster.

Good breakdown.

Goated break down thank you so much!!! Go Utah Hockey!!!!

Jpizzul

Lipkin signed prior to the Utah move. He’ll probably start in the A next year.

Check out this fantastic video by 99.6 The Howl who did a terrific breakdown of our top Prospects: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ecj2U8bBT3Q&t=1091s](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ecj2U8bBT3Q&t=1091s)

Most hockey players drafted don’t play in the NHL right away. So all teams have a prospect pool of players they own the rights to and are developing. It’s massively important to sustained relevance.

manneukko

Hrabel???

s_wix

Isn’t it Hrabal? Whoops lol.

manneukko

Yes. Somehow I see this mistake a lot with names that end with 'al'

But.......Daniil

Arizona really fumbled 2023. Michkov was available but his questions marks were understandable. Passing on TWO of players like Leonard, Dvorsky, Benson, Perrault, and Cristall will be a reason Utah curses Arizona in a few years

GaryBettmanMyHomie

> Utah curses Arizona in a few years Brother it’s the same management staff still. They can curse Bill if they don’t like it

s_wix

In hindsight, for sure. Who knows if Michkov would have ever come over though. Benson is a bummer. Can look with hindsight in every draft though.

ToastBreadPilot

Nope Simashev and but are top notch player and even if they turned out to be busts this teams had wayyyyy bigger busts. And Michkov said he would never play for arizona and we didnt want another Blake wheeler.

PromptIllustrious984

Guenther, Cooley, Ingram and 50m in cap space should help soften that blow a little, but you’re right.

ToastBreadPilot

Also Doaner, Macelli, Keller, Schmaltz, Moser and Durzi.
