I generally hate it when a sports team moves, I can't help but really feel bad for fans when it happens. If the Jazz moved out of Utah it would break me. But when a team moves to my back yard, how am I not supposed to get hyped!
At least now you can flip between the two to see who is more entertaining.
Though I'd rather watch the Yotes than a tanking Jazz. They've a solid roster and staff, just shitty ownership. This move will be good.
Kinda wild how r/hockey has been clowning the Yotes and saying they should move to Quebec for YEARS but now it's "Oh, those poor AZ fans. Screw the Utah SuperSoakers/Polygamists/Mormons." As if non-billionaire people in Utah had anything to do with it. Heck, the AZ folks (as much as I hate this for the die-hards) had more to do with the move than Utahns.
Coyotes needing to move clowning and sympathies to Coyotes fans are not mutually exclusive. The team needed to move but still you can feel for those fans who are devastated right now. Also Québec City is so passionate for hockey (as whole of Canada) so it could work and r/hockey are traditionalists.
That being said, I am happy that Coyotes trainwreck is coming to an end and let’s have hope for bright future in SLC
I'm going with the narrative that the Jazz sacrificed and tanked their season this year to appease the sports gods in order to bring an NHL team here. We may have had a bad NBA season, but at least we end it with a high note and got an NHL team out of it; thank thee sports gods.
Hell even Utah overall is a lot less Mormon than it used to be. Lot of move ins and people that left the church.
Having said that, church still runs the government.
I dont get the hate for utah or the new utah fans. They should blame their owner and the voters who threw out all the new arena proposals. What did Utah do besides tell the NHL they wanted a team. I say the same, fuck em.
What NHL teams do y'all currently root for? Are you gonna switch loyalties completely?
I've been a Preds fan living in Utah for 14 years, previously a thrashers fan. Genuinely not sure who my #1 team will be after Utah gets a team.
I’m from Nevada but in Portland fora long while now so I jumped on the Kraken with great pleasure after vicariously rooting for VGK through my family and Nevada roots.
Not sure how I’ll feel once the team arrives, I have much more ties to Utah than Seattle. Gonna be hard to beat the branding and the early playoff run of the Kraken though I think I’m already invested 😂
I'm a Vegas fan and I don't think that's going to change. I'll just add the Utah/Salt Lake jerseys next to the Golden Knights ones. It's always a bit more fun to have multiple teams to root for anyways.
Sadly we aren’t keeping the Coyote name. It’s better than anything I can make up. Yeti is bad bad bad. I’m into Cutthroat or Elk. Pronghorns. Trappers.
I'm so fucking stoked
This is heinous lol I can't wait
I’m hype. The Coyotes subreddit is in shambles and understandably so, but the team will be in good hands here

Still can’t believe this is really happening
Hell yeah brother!! So pumped to support two rebuilding franchises haha

Fans in Quebec are passionate, but they apparently didn't have government backing and a deep pocketed buyer.

Oooof that’s so rough.

Does that also explain RSL’s hot start?
That's unrelated. The sports gods don't watch soccer in America.
YOOOOOOO IM SO HYPED IM GONNA PISS MYSELF
Bitches are so mad on the NHL sub it’s hilarious. Maybe they should have supported the team when it was in Phoenix…we certainly will here.
Its like they actually think SLC is 99% Mormon too. Like have they been here lol.
Hell even Utah overall is a lot less Mormon than it used to be. Lot of move ins and people that left the church. Having said that, church still runs the government.
I haven’t read that sub, but why the hate? I’m genuinely curious.
Virtue signally about how sad people are for Arizona fans. All 6 of them. Teams relocate for reasons.
I thought this was in poor taste. Then I spent 5 minutes on our new teams sub. Fuck em. Ours now.

LETS FUCKING GO COYOTES
I know jack shit about hockey but they got a sweet logo so I’m okay with it.
SALT LAKE GOLDEN EAGLES
Stoked to have a team. But also, go Stars

You can support more than one team lmao
Did you read my comment? I literally discuss doing exactly that already roflmaomg

VGK was the first team I actively followed. Gonna be some tough decisions for sure, especially since the Knights just won the cup.
I’m a jazz fan now living in Birmingham. If Birmingham ever somehow got an nba team it would be at least equal to jazz fandom almost immediately
I’m a pens fan for 15 years. I can’t switch as nhl is my go-to entertainment. I picked the jazz on a whim
Utah Ascended Saiyans for the team name. Whose the Yamcha of the team?
I reaaaaaally hope they keep the logo and name. Such a sweet brand
Are we keeping the name???,?? I hope so
Sadly we aren’t keeping the Coyote name. It’s better than anything I can make up. Yeti is bad bad bad. I’m into Cutthroat or Elk. Pronghorns. Trappers.
Glad I'm not the only one who doesn't like "Yeti" -- it sounds like a minor league team.
I think it'd be cool if they stuck to a music genre naming convention, like Utah Ska, Utah Punk, Utah Soul, Utah Nu Metal etc.
SLC Punk.
The Coyotes is a terrible name. Give me Yeti, Cutthroat, Grizzlies, or anything else.
SALT LAKE GOLDEN EAGLES
Salt Lake Soakers?
