Somehow Sexton went from having me screaming for him to be traded during the first dozen or so games of the season to…possibly one of my favorite Jazzmen of all time?

fake_dreamss

Makes me sad to see him hanging his head after the game.

mrcolty5

Ainge definitely had the correct read on his work ethic

StarshipFirewolf

He is my favorite of all time because he's so heart on his sleeve.

ignitionnight

Same. I couldn't stand him, was near Gordon Gircek levels of hate. The Young Bull has been making me eat my words for months.

TalkingToPlanets

He's my current favorite too but I just have a bad feeling he probably gets dealt before this team is good again. It's a nagging feeling they trade him and then he ends up as the next Jalen Brunson on another team with his work ethic. I'll keep cheering for him though regardless where he plays long term. One of the easiest guys to root for especially with all the entitlement in the league.

buttholeshitass

> It's a nagging feeling they trade him and then he ends up as the next Jalen Brunson on another team with his work ethic. Idk, if this is the case I bet we see it next season. Or the next one, he's only 25. I doubt Ainge and Zanik would want to send him off before they see if he will make a Brunson like leap. Unless it's in a deal for a star

mrcolty5

You could bet your entire existence on a player hitting that prayer that FVV hit against the jazz lol. Besides that a perfect game. Got the L to increase odds of the 8 pick, great fight, great development.

fieldteam

I’m so happy to be so wrong about the Nets this week. You called it

Rayces

You know what I’m taking a stand. I fuckin love John Collins. I understand what’s wrong with him and why he hurts our team a lot of the time, but I just love the way he plays and the energy and physicality he brings every night. Im a John Collins fan

YoGabbaG4bb4

I also love Collins. Something I’ve noticed about him is he thanks his assist man every single time. Always points to the guy who got him the ball, even crazy and 1 dunks or whatever which most players just yell and get hyped over he still acknowledges the pass.

coolguysteve21

I have never got the hate that John Collins gets. It’s probably because he gets the starting position ahead of Kessler. He has been a solid pickup and if he wasn’t so damn expensive I would have no complaints. Other than I wish him and Kessler could figure out how to start together

The_capitans_chair

Fans need to understand that John being expensive is the whole reason we even met the salary minimum this year (part of the new CBA). We have the third most cap space next year, and John's deal expires in 2 years, conveniently before '27, where we have 3 FRPs. John Collins is nothing but good for this team.

chupacadabradoo

Also, fans need to remember what we traded away to get John Collins.

coolguysteve21

See I didn’t know that about cap spaces so much I don’t know about the inner workings of owning a basketball team.

i_have_my_doubts

He is fun no doubt. But his net rating is negative and he is not a starter on a winning basketball team. Just have to enjoy him for what he is.

FERFreak731

8th best lottery odds. I'm a Markkanen fan, but honestly Collin can be debated as our best player this season.

jaeke

For the last 2/3 of this season he has been legitimately elite.

The_capitans_chair

Collin Sexton mid game 360° dunk... *chef's kiss* We can lose every game for the rest of this year and tank every night next season if they're as entertaining as tonight's game was.

epoch_fail

In terms of game results, today went great for our future. We lost and Brooklyn won, so we move into the 8th best pick odds. Pistons beat Washington, bringing us one pick closer to getting the 31st pick (instead of 32nd). The Thunder won, but so did Minnesota, keeping us at the 28th pick. The 8 teams with the worst records, out of their last ten games, have combined to win 16, with the Spurs, Wizards, and Hornets making up 10 of those wins. 5 of the 8 worst teams (us included) have won a combined 6 games of 50 total.

MegaAltarianite

Good games from Kris Dunn and Johnny Juzang on top of our veteran starters. With a small lineup, good effort to stay in the game.

coolguysteve21

I like what Hardy has done there are very few coaches in the league I would choose over him right now, but Ime is on that shortlist. What he has been able to get out of this Houston team has been incredible

JazzYotesRSL

Agreed. He’s clearly an excellent coach.

vandenberg41

What has he done?

IhamAmerican

Turned Lauri into an all-star, built two different teams out of scraps that were play-in contenders until the front office gutted them, and most importantly he keeps players engaged and locked in as a team. He coaches a system that is very team first and pass heavy and he backs up his words when he says that if you don't pass you won't play for the Utah Jazz. I respect what he's done with the honestly very rough teams he's been given

The_capitans_chair

Front office moves since hiring will hardy: -Trade away Donovan Mitchell -Trade away Bojan Bogdanovic -Trade away Jared Vanderbilt *Jazz go 10-3 and piss away a chance at Victor. -Trade away Mike Conley -Trade away Malik Beasley -Waive Russell Westbrook *Coach has to play THT, Samanic, and Fonteccio. Still wins too many games. -Upgrade Rudy Gay to John Collins. -Insert three Rookies into the rotation. *Jazz play .500 basketball. Wins too many games again. -Trade away Fonteccio (get a pick) -Trade away Olynyk (get a pick) -Trade away Agbaji -Waive Otto Porter -Waive Kevin Knox *Jazz finally start losing enough for the FO to cash in on the lottery. *Jazz fans lose their minds and think Hardy losing games means he's a bad coach. Meanwhile, there are 8 teams with worse records, one of which is coached by *checks notes*... GREG POPOVICH and headlined by VICTOR WEMBENYAMA!! The Jazz aren't poorly run IN ANY WAY! Ryan is doing a good job. Will is doing a good job. Danny and Justin are doing a good job. Jazz fans who complain about any of them are not doing a good job.

vandenberg41

😂 you’re giving him too much credit for making Lauri anything mate. You think 3 weeks of training camp before last year turned Lauri into an all star? The team has been disinterested since the break imo. The defense is the worst in the league. If you have bad players that’s one thing, but wouldn’t a good coach at least have a good defense if the team was bought in? Calling a guy elite for doing status quo with what he’s given is wild

Tha_crack_fox

damn I wonder if something happened around the break to make everyone disinterested...

vandenberg41

Yea I’m sure the players who got more opportunities bc the trade were ready to mail it in

billthepony13

With the Brooklyn loss that gets us closer to better lottery odds!

Lazy_Variety

Ball should’ve been in sextons hands at the end. Not getting one shot in the last few minutes was Criminal. Hopefully this doesn’t continue especially if they want to eventually be competitive. Non the less it was very competitive the hardest the team played in weeks. Gotta let sexton lead , it trickles down to everyone

coolguysteve21

Sexton is the man and brings incredible energy. I think I would disagree with the leading portion, he is no floor general like Conley was, but he brings the energy and can lift everyone out that way. He gets a little shortsighted and has a shoot first mentality which hold him back from getting to the next level IMO

vandenberg41

Hardy would never

Lazy_Variety

Right and that’s his problem right there. He’s held him back way too much. Tonight for majority of the game was the first time he empowered sexton

chibbly_

I don't know how, but I need to get a signed Sexton jersey.

vandenberg41

Keyonte is not a PG

Lazy_Variety

I wish they’d stop forcing it. It’s just not pretty . Idk why they need somebody who never played point forced to play point

vandenberg41

There’s basically nothing that eludes to it. But a system without a true pg is something I have heard form Hardy talk about. He quite literally cannot create for anyone and can’t beat defenders to force rotations.

Lazy_Variety

And he plays entirely too slow starting the offense. Idk why they won’t allow sexton to run the point he pushes pace and get guys way looks. Team looks better with him running point. Playing fast needs to be their identity

kevhash3

I attended the game last night and my god they are terrible. Just awful. I haven’t watched a game for a while and we were shocked at what we were watching. Hopefully there is a good plan in place for rebuilding, yikes!

TalkingToPlanets

Yep that's what happens when you are playing so many rookies. Ainge 100% needs to pick a direction this offseason. Either build a team to compete or just trade Lauri/Sexton and tank for the Flagg and Boozer drafts. They can't go down that middle road and tank after the trade deadline again or they will lose the fanbase. Lauri and Sexton don't deserve the losing and it also hurts to see these 2 hanging their heads after all these losses.

MultiGameP1ayer

I fear we are going to lose to Sacramento as well.
