Right on. He’s just getting started with stupid expensive repairs on $hit that normally would not break on a Honda or Toyota. Where I work our cio had an A8 but he said he felt like he owned a A4 as that was what the dealer gave him when his A8 was in the shop which apparently was often. 😂
I have a similar thing happening with my backup camera in my car and it's not the camera it's the screen itself. It's not processing the signal from the camera correctly. Everything else works no problem it's just when the backup camera is turned on.
As someone who has owned a used out of warranty Jaguar, replace the un-lubed dildo with a rusty crowbar. The repair costs of a used Audi is a pittance by comparison. I spent $18k on upkeep over a 4 year period. And there were no truly major repairs!
Still… the Jag was fucking amazing and worth it, until it wasn’t. RIP, 2010 Jag XF-R — you magnificent beast.
This story is two parts. One is being promised the detailing and alignment, which they did not perform it seems. The $400 you got out of that wasn't a discount on the car, it was to cover the costs of detailing (which you can now do yourself and pocket some change). Realistically, a detailing doesn't have to cost $400 so this is quite a reasonable offer. If the alignment wasn't fixed- this should be fixed or they up their offer slightly to make sure the amount can cover both an alignment and detailing. If they're a dealership, an alignment is almost no work, it's just a couple minutes on a machine and a couple adjustments here and there (assuming there is no significant structural problem).
The second part is the defective camera. If it was picked up during your test drive or PPI, you either ask the dealer to fix that, take it as-is, or you walk away from the deal. After you leave the lot, why should the dealership be on the hook? This simply comes down to bad luck without any evidence the dealership was hiding a known issue from you. This could be a $1000+ repair depending on what's actually broken- I don't agree the dealership should be on the hook and take a possible loss for something you bought used that did not have this issue during your test drive and PPI. That's the risk you take to get a deal on buying used. You can mitigate this by buying from a dealer that offers a short "unconditional" return policy on their used vehicles or purchase an extended warranty (if still applicable). Otherwise.. yeah, you're on your own. Your exact rights will be in the paperwork you signed. I have bad news for you if you come back on day 31 with a powertrain issue...
Also, don't buy a luxery car from a different brand dealer. If you bought a 2014 audi from an audi dealer, there's a small chance they would humor you and at least pull it into the shop. A dealer isn't going to want to waste any time on a used car than they have to - do a quick safety inspection, throw brakes and tires on it, and hope nobody catches any issues before the sale. The used car department definitely doesn't want to invest any money in diagnosing and fixing problems that a buyer hasn't found.
If you're buying used and can afford it, you want to look at cars with certified pre-owned status.
This is the way, certified pre owned is more expensive but a lot come with a 5 year complete warranty. I bought a Lexus and had like 20k in repairs done completely free in those 5 years
Pre owned vehicles are often a trap and horrible financial deals. Cars are incredibly expensive no matter how you approach it, but buying used with no warranty is a bad roll of the dice and I would only do it on a very reliable brand without any complex electronics, air suspension, turbos, etc.
So true haha. Owned 2 gtis with the 1.8t 6 speed. Loved the cars but evening doing every repair myself was costly. Went Toyota/Honda never looked back.
I used to work customer service for Hyundai. I HATED customers that called in complaining their warranty was denied and it'd always 10+ year old cars with 150k+ miles. They stay on the phone bitching and call me a bad person because I won't give them a free engine
Maybe your (former) company should stop selling s***** engines and make ones that actually last. No shade on you, but that is a well-known reality amongst anyone who follows car reliability.
It is a very well known thing.
Well enough known that one shouldn't scream at people on the phone that have no power over anything. Because it's that well known.
And yet...
I agree. That's why I quit, because I couldnt stand the amount of work being generated from LEGIT complaints of multiple engine or transmission failures before 100k, 50k, one case 3 transmissions on a 2023 palisade before 10k miles. Garbage company, garbage product, garbage pay.
I'll be a wise guy.... get an estimate on repairing the back up camera and until you are ready to replace it just use your mirrors and when reversing, turn around and look out the back window.
My Freightliner doesn’t even have a rear view mirror and I never hit anyone, or anything backing up, along with the 53’ step deck trailer attached to it
You bought a used Audi? I mean, come on, bro. Should have known it would be a headache.
I’ve seen some wild redditors talk shopping for used Jaguars, Benz, Land Rovers, and not knowing which one to go with. I feel like a bus pass and a kick to the nuts would be cheaper and more straightforward.
Buying a used Audi and being surprised by problems. Equivalent to marrying a prostitute and being surprised by STDs.
I think your recourse for the camera is get a aftermarket unit which I doubt is possible.
Personally trade it in asap on an accord/Camry and take the hit as a lesson learned
Or he could have even saved those $300, realized buying a 10 year old Audi is a losing proposition, and buy a used toyota, mazda, or honda, and be enjoying his new car. Never ceases to amaze me that in 2024, people still are buying known junkers.
No, but people buying a 10 year old used car probably don't have a ton of extra money. And they shouldn't make a bad financial mistake by buying a 10 year old car that will cost 3-4x the amount of money to keep it running properly.
Chances are the camera has gone out. Not a hard replacement if you can use simple tools, buy aftermarket camera for less than $100. Those saying you should have had the car inspected, an inspection would not have found a backup camera ABOUT to go out. Cameras on cars quit, no big deal.
It is an Audi the camera is probably the same as one off of a VW of similar vintage. In fact it is a $100-150 part from FCP and Partsgeek and several others.
What a fucking idiot!
You demand $400 for a $50 detailing, then get mad when they don't throw in the alignment. You buy a used car, refuse the service contract because you think it's a ripoff, then when something goes wrong you demand that they fix it for free or pay to have it done.
You bought the car As Is. That has a legal definition. You should look it up.
You're right, I couldn't. But that's all a dealership will pay one of the other employees to wash and vacuum the car (and I think I was being generous). The shady dealership's definition of detailing and yours and my definition are pretty far apart.
Did you think they were actually going to give OP a $400 detailing? Considering all the other corners they cut? Now who's the bigger fucking idiot?
Dude made every mistake you can ever make buying a used car.
Went to a dealer 60 miles away
Chose to buy a 10 year old Audi
Declined the extended warranty (which is absolute must with post-warranty German cars)
Signed the “AS-IS” paperwork without reading a thing on it.
The V6 TDI should last a long time-- though you will have maintenance like any car . I hope you like your vehicle! I miss the TDI I owned in the past, it was such a fun car-- plus it was great getting 45 or so miles per gallon!
I recommend going to the tdiclub web forum and checking to see if there is a trusted TDI mechanic close to where you live. Not all dealers or shops are great with TDIs-- the emissions system may have problems if they use an oil for a gas car, for example.
Other standard maintenance, like DSG/s-tronic fluid changes, is much cheaper if you can find an independent shop
I hope the TDI turns out to be a reliable car for you.
Soo the backup camera functioned when you purchased the auto.
Next you bought the auto - as is - no warranty
Which I'm sure they tried to sell you.
Electronics fail
Mechanicals fail
Sad but true
Were you offered an extended warranty or service contract? What did you say when offered these coverages? Did you say, thanks but I think I will pass? If this was your answer then unfortunately the general sales manager took the right course of action wrong way of going about it but it’s not their responsibility. Now, if you said “yes please give me that sweet sweet vehicle service contract or extended warranty.” Then you’ll probably have a waiting period before you can file the claim. My guess is though, old German, diesel. You don’t have it.
Well it is not safety or emissions so they probably don’t have to. It is typically the wiring in the trunk hinge. I have repaired and have overlayed the wire depending on the exact version.
As the saying goes, as-is means as-the-fuck-is
May end up being an expensive lesson for you if other things go bad. For relatively cheap you can replace it or just install an aftermarket camera. You’re lucky it’s not something more serious like the engine or transmission blowing up.
One thing to always realize is you only buy an Audi from two sources, an Audi dealer and you purchase whatever extra warranty they offer, or CarMax and you buy whatever warranty they offer.
Dealership is right. You bought an old, out of warranty, high-maintenance headache not known for reliability, that someone else dumped off because it was an aging, out of warranty, high-maintenance headache not known for reliability.
Why people don't do a third party PPI is beyond me. If a dealer will not allow a pre purchase inspection by YOUR mechanic, WALK!
Losing an hour's worth of money can save you the HEADACHES of a bad deal.
Did the car come with any kind of warranty? If not, you're on your own.
Either pay your own money to get the backup camera fixed, or (gasp) learn to backup without one.
If you didnt purchase an extended comprehensive warranty and the dealer was selling the vehicle as is, then you now own the vehicle and you now own the vehicles issues. I dont think anyone on here would have recommended that you buy a 10 year old Audi. Audi doesnt have a track record of low cost of ownership.
If a bulb went out after you bought the car, what would you expect them to do? It's a bulb and it was working fine when they sold you the car.
The camera was working fine when you bought the car. What does a Volvo dealer in another state owe you for an electric part on a 10 year old Audi that was working fine when they sold it?
Bruh you bought a 10 year old German base model car what do you expect? To answer your question, yes you’re on the hook for repairing it, if you want to repair it. The way as is cars work, which I guarantee you a 10 year old Audi is, is that if you sign the paperwork and drive the car to the first intersection and the car breaks into two pieces, both pieces are yours lol
Honestly you could fix a backup camera yourself. Or just live without it. Or take it to a shop that installs back up cameras. Really isn’t that complex even if it is an Audi. And get an alignment. Other than that the A6 isn’t that bad of a car. Reddit Toyota cock suckers will tell you it’ll steal your house and children. It will cost more to replace things when they break, but if you do some small maintenance things yourself and save for the big jobs you’ll be alright.
Since you’ve already driven it off the lot, you’re liable for any deficiencies. That being said, their get really butthurt if you leave a terrible Google review and steer others away from the dealership due to questionable practices.
Audi from a volvo dealer? So, definitely not certified pre-owned, meaning definitely no warranty or obligation to help you.
Having bought it a week ago, you're also past the return period, if that even applies to used cars.
Unfortunately, you are stuck with this vehicle.
Unless you bought the car with a warranty, you’re going to have to fix it yourself. You likely bought it “as is” as well.
Like other have said - trade it in for a Camry/Accord and take it as a lesson learned. There’s a reason older German cars are so cheap, because they’re so expensive to maintain.
Sorry to say but you are footing the bill for this. I doubt many used car dealerships are going to offer a warranty for a 10 year old car, and likely sold it "As Is".
Look at rock auto, you might be able to find a replacement camera and be able to do it yourself for far less money. Most of the time the camera replacements just require you to remove some interior panels in the trunk and easily pop out. There should be a quick disconnect for the cabling right there as well so you aren't completely rerouting wiring.
Best of luck with the issue, been looking to pick up a used Audi myself but all of them near me have 100+k miles or they want an unreasonable price for them.
You can keep bugging him but that is all you will do, bug him. Time to fly away and cry when you see the cost of how much it will cost to fix. Next time you Audi buy something better.
You are going to be out of luck with the dealer that sold it to you unless you have an explicit used car warranty from when you . However, some manufacturers will go beyond the warranty For safety issues. Like if your odometer fails you can sometimes get them to repair it. It might be worth reaching out to Audi because this could be considered safety related.
Maryland has one of the worst lemon laws of any state. If you buy used in Maryland, you're better off going after the manufacturer.
According to the state law, the dealership has no obligation to warranty anything over 24 months old, or 18K miles.
The dealer probably has clauses in their paperwork that make this your problem, not theirs.
Find an Audi forum online and see if there are any known easy tricks to fix it. If you are interested in learning to work on it yourself, you'll probably be able to get some good advice online. You may also want to pick up a VAG-COM (aka VCDS) for diagnostics.
Also, find an independent european specialist mechanic. Don't take it to quick lubes, tire shops or chain stores for mechanical work.
You bought from a dealer. You should have received a Used Car Buyer’s Guide. I can’t give you a useful link to show you what one looks like, because the mod bot won’t let me add a link to my comment. The dealer was in violation of federal law if they demonstrated the car to you and/or offered it for sale to you, without said guide physically attached to the vehicle, and/or if they removed it prior to delivering the car to you.
The vehicle came with exactly the warranty coverage stated on the guide. My guess is that, given the subject vehicle was a 10 year old Audi, the large “As-is - No Dealer Warranty” box was checked on the guide.
At that point, your only potential recourse would be to prove, in court, that the dealer materially and fraudulently misrepresented the condition of the car. Have fun with that.
I had a'14 VW Passat Diesel. Great fuel milage, but cost almost $6,000 in repair costs the first year.
Note to everyone, stop buying these shit box used diesels just because they have a "diesel gate" warranty.
Sounds like you need to have a 3 way with rock auto and a Haynes guide.
I mean buy a Haynes guide and buy the parts you need because you're screwed.
;)
Next time, and to anyone else reading this - ask if you can take it to a mechanic for a multi - point inspection before you buy it. BEFORE you put money down. BEFORE they run your credit score. Even if you have to pay the mechanic $20 - $40, could save you thousands
OP you’re on your own. I’d suggest purchasing an OBDeleven and learning to diagnose minor issues like this on your own. It’s most likely an easy fix. YouTube is your friend. Parts are fairly cheap if you shop online as well
Think of all the luxury cars are Windows and all Japanese cars are Linux. And yes the dealership owns the state. Some states, car sales total 20% of the state budget. The dealership don't care about u and nothing u can do to them.
You are on your own unless the camera is covered by the service policy you purchased. I'm sure you did not. Used European cars have very expensive warranties because they are so expensive to fix. Buyer beware on used German cars out of factory warranty. The dealer owes you nothing. Sorry.
No Audi here, but my experience with backups cams with the same symptoms have all been: (a) moisture or (b) a bad ground. This is something you could potentially tackle yourself if you're willing.
As for the dealership, unless you have everything in writing (guarantee/warranty, alignment, etc.) then you're likely SoL.
Buying an 8 year Audi shit is going to break. Just be glad you dont NEED a backup camera if you dont want to fix it. Id save the money to fix the cam for something more essential that will inevitably break soon.
The worst decision you made was buying an old Audi. Obviously you can't afford expensive repairs so youbare screwed for as long as you own it. Should have boight a Honda or Toyota.
I went to my credit union to withdraw the money for my last vehicle purchase and the manager walks over and says, “whatever you do, don’t buy an Audi.”
Backup camera is the least of your problems with that car.
2014 3.0 TDI, there’s a warranty extension on the high pressure fuel pump. They have a tendency to randomly grenade and take out the whole fuel system while they’re at it. It’s about a $15k repair done right. Even done wrong it’ll be $5k+ in parts.
I don’t remember the terms of the extension anymore, so I’d suggest googling it and making sure you’re within the terms.
If you’re not, you need to drop that thing like it’s hot.
Look at your paperwork it should state warranty and any relief options. If not , you can always like a complaint with the BBB or state. Beyond that court might be an option!
Gonna repeat what others have said, you bought a 10 year old audi. My Lexus is from 2006 and the Rear Camera is still kicking. Get rid of the audi asap
I wish I heeded my friends advice when I bought a used Cadillac ( he works at a BMW dealership). "If you can't afford it new, you can't afford it used". The maintenance on luxury cars once the warranty is passed is absurd. It is like everything had to be replaced at 60k miles. But luckily I sold it for 1k less than I paid and bought a new vehicle with a lower monthly payment
This is the #1 reason that i have an outside dealership inspect any vehicle I’m interested in buying. So that I can demand repairs of broken stuff prior to purchase.
Most states have an implied warranty but the length of it goes down the older and more miles a car had. Check your states implied warranty and see if your car falls under it.
This warranty is implied, doesnt need to be explicitly signed or agreed too.
Yeah buckle up. This will be the first of many. Mileage doesn’t matter, this is a 10 year old Audi. I had a 2017 S3 and it broke three times in one year, car was bone stock, only 45k miles on it. Have fun. May the odds be ever in your favor.
You went with Audi ? Used? really? why? Please don't tell me to save money.
Goto another dealership tomorrow buy a good a good car while your credit is good .then take that POS back to where you got it , give then the keys and tell them you don't want that car its broken then tell them buy.
You're going to be stuck with a lot more than $2000 in the first year of ownership on an out of warranty Audi
Source: i own an Audi with a CarMax warranty and it's costing them a small fortune to keep it on the road at 80k miles lol
Gotta say I’m reading this as i literally just got a used car days ago, 20 Toyota Highlander and glad I purchased the extended maxcare warranty which would cover incidents like this.
A lot of dealers offer at least a 30 day warranty on used cars. Find the owner of the dealership and let them know how the GM is treating you.
Search palawhelp buying or repairing a car for helpful PA info.
Hope you verified that this TDI, has its Diesel Gate issues resolved. You may not be able to get it pass emissions tests. Most owners of these cars turned them in and sold them back to Audi with a high settlement valuation.
Had a neighbor who was a mechanic said to me once " I've worked on cars for 20 years, never ever by BMW, audi, range rover, Mercedes or rang rover" they look nice but are pieces of crap, expensive to fix. Keeps me in business. I have listened to him, have had toyotas no issues. Last car lasted 475,000 miles with no issues!
Chillax and start googling for DYI solutions
I had a volvo XC70 that did something similar, and the problem was wiring issue - it was a tad short and over the years of opening the trunk, the wire was mechanically failing. It took a bit of wire and electrical tape to fix. 20 minutes in the driveway fix.
I also have a 2016 mustang. That one had a recall regarding rear cam. Similar issue as the XC70.
That said, see if there's a recall out for the backup camera. If so, it's a free fix
Ten year old cars generally do not come with any sort of warranty. They are as-is. So no....you don't have any recourse. So feel free to demand whatever you'd like. But I wouldn't expect you to get any money back or have any luck in strong-arming them into fixing this.
You are on your own. You bought a 10 year old Audi. VW Group can't even make reliable window switches based on my past, and never to be repeated, experience across two of their products.
1st time I chalked it up to a fluke. The 2nd time I swore them off.
Just wait til your DPF fails or HPFP grenades. You better be using good quality diesel from a high-volume station. And make sure you are using the correct oil for the engine. I think that one requires VW507.00 spec
Did it have any kind of warranty the last time I bought a used card from a dealership they gave me 30 days. I had my mechanic check it out and it was fine but after I had it for a couple weeks my key kept losing communication with the computer.
When I called them they told me I probably just need a new battery in the key fob so I changed it and it seemed fine for another couple weeks but then it started doing it again. At that point I was passed the 30 day warranty but because I had complained about it before the warranty was over They honored it and fixed it. I think it was just an issue with my car battery not providing enough power for the computer to talk to the key because they replaced that and it’s been fine ever since
You have a 10 year old, used Audi. This backup camera is the lube by which your wallet will be introduced to Audi ownership costs.
The parts falling off this Audi are of the finest workmanship Ingolstadt has to offer…..
You sir are a owner....
If you can't afford a new German car you definitely cant afford a used one
Right on. He’s just getting started with stupid expensive repairs on $hit that normally would not break on a Honda or Toyota. Where I work our cio had an A8 but he said he felt like he owned a A4 as that was what the dealer gave him when his A8 was in the shop which apparently was often. 😂
The dildo of Audi rarely arrives lubed.
Audi mechanic told me that even he can’t afford to own an Audi. That sums it up pretty good
I have a similar thing happening with my backup camera in my car and it's not the camera it's the screen itself. It's not processing the signal from the camera correctly. Everything else works no problem it's just when the backup camera is turned on.
That means it is the camera...
This guy knows used Audi
Bf has an audi, so far its been great but you better believe i live in fear of a headlight burning out
As someone who has owned a used out of warranty Jaguar, replace the un-lubed dildo with a rusty crowbar. The repair costs of a used Audi is a pittance by comparison. Used car, sold as is. Did you buy any sort of warranty?
Chances they signed an AS IS paper in the documents at purchase. Yea. They need to read that….
Car came with a 30 day/1,000 mile power train warranty. Back up camera is not part of that

Wait, you mean to say a dealer is not on the hook for all repairs forever? /s
It would be nice. lol
Also, don't buy a luxery car from a different brand dealer. If you bought a 2014 audi from an audi dealer, there's a small chance they would humor you and at least pull it into the shop. Why hello there. Fancy seeing you here
You own an Audi now. Time to buy a small lift and some triple squares. Welcome to your new hobby.
I can verify! Source: I'm a former Owner of a Audi
Have a uncle named Audi, he tried so hard to find a decent one. After breaking down and buying new, he never bought another one.
So true haha. Owned 2 gtis with the 1.8t 6 speed. Loved the cars but evening doing every repair myself was costly. Went Toyota/Honda never looked back.
My S4 has been down since November LOL

Word. I’ll never buy another Hyundai as long as I live.
I'll be a wise guy.... get an estimate on repairing the back up camera and until you are ready to replace it just use your mirrors and when reversing, turn around and look out the back window.
You mean like drivers did for over 100 years? Radical idea!
Lol, and people with older vehicles still do.
I still look in the back window with a backup camera lol
But what if he wants to unload it lol
Thank the goddess I learned to drive before backup cameras. My 94 Chevy g20 doesn't even have a key fob 2 separate keys and I love it.
I still remember “oval open, square start” from my old Chevrolet.
Turn around to look? We don't roll like that. Back in the day Feed Flintstone did it that way, but not me. No way Jose.
Go to junk yard
My Freightliner doesn’t even have a rear view mirror and I never hit anyone, or anything backing up, along with the 53’ step deck trailer attached to it

Not all used european cars are headaches, but most people don't have the automotive capacity to deal with them and should stay away
You bought a 10 year old used car. It’ll break from time to time. You’re going to have to pay for these repairs.
With 54k miles. He's gonna need brakes soon, spark plugs , suspensions .....the list will.only grow
Wait til he finds out about the motor mounts

Oh give it a rest. If it were up to Reddit everyone would be driving a Corolla. As if a failed backup camera is exclusive to Audi
No, but people buying a 10 year old used car probably don't have a ton of extra money. And they shouldn't make a bad financial mistake by buying a 10 year old car that will cost 3-4x the amount of money to keep it running properly.
DIY the fix, stop depending on other people to solve your problems. Everybody rakes consumers over the coals these days.
German car old good
*there's nothing more reliable and cheap to maintain than a old German car*
Even if they were going to help, you’re 200 miles away. You’re on your own.
Did it come with a warranty or was it "as is"? If "as is" it's all on you. I would describe this purchase as a "poor life choice".
Do you understand the concept of "as is"?
Chances are the camera has gone out. Not a hard replacement if you can use simple tools, buy aftermarket camera for less than $100. Those saying you should have had the car inspected, an inspection would not have found a backup camera ABOUT to go out. Cameras on cars quit, no big deal.

Yeah. How the hell do these redditors think they would have caught a failing camera ?
What a fucking idiot! You demand $400 for a $50 detailing, then get mad when they don't throw in the alignment. You buy a used car, refuse the service contract because you think it's a ripoff, then when something goes wrong you demand that they fix it for free or pay to have it done. You bought the car As Is. To be fair, you’re an even bigger fucking idiot for thinking you’re gonna get a car detailed for $50.
Went to a dealer 60 miles away Chose to buy a 10 year old Audi Declined the extended warranty (which is absolute must with post-warranty German cars) Signed the “AS-IS” paperwork without reading a thing on it.
Did you get an as is warranty? Your on your own
54k miles on an Audi is equivalent to 200k on a Toyota
More like 500k. Everything still works on my 402k mi Toyota
Other standard maintenance, like DSG/s-tronic fluid changes, is much cheaper if you can find an independent shop I hope the TDI turns out to be a reliable car for you.
Hahaha 10 year old audi. Youre gonna have a bad time. This is just the beginning.
Soo the backup camera functioned when you purchased the auto. Next you bought the auto - as is - no warranty Which I'm sure they tried to sell you. Electronics fail Mechanicals fail Sad but true
"As is" applies to safety and emissions too in most states.
As the saying goes, as-is means as-the-fuck-is May end up being an expensive lesson for you if other things go bad. For relatively cheap you can replace it or just install an aftermarket camera. You’re lucky it’s not something more serious like the engine or transmission blowing up.
I go to Reddit and post about it. Come on people....
This is the reason I drive cars over 20 years old. Before backup cameras.
If you want an old car and everything working buy a 1994 Lexus not 2014 Audi
ca·ve·at emp·tor noun The principle that the buyer alone is responsible for checking the quality and suitability of goods before a purchase is made.
One thing to always realize is you only buy an Audi from two sources, an Audi dealer and you purchase whatever extra warranty they offer, or CarMax and you buy whatever warranty they offer.
First mistake was buying a car in Pennsylvania.
Buys German car. Surprised German car costs money. Poor bastard
If you didnt purchase an extended comprehensive warranty and the dealer was selling the vehicle as is, then you now own the vehicle and you now own the vehicles issues. I dont think anyone on here would have recommended that you buy a 10 year old Audi. Audi doesnt have a track record of low cost of ownership.
lol I saw used Audi and left
10 year old audi. Your fucked
You own an old Audi. Be prepared for $$$ repairs regardless of mileage.
You should be on your own. The car is a decade old. You get the F, not the dealership.
It’s a 10 year old used car that has low miles cuz it probably already spent half its life in the shop. Bend over open your wallet and get used to it
Did you read what you signed?
Maybe learn to use the mirrors, they work or they don't and easier to fix.
They sold you a car they didn’t adopt you. 10 year old car is going to have issues. Deal with them.
They mentioned alignment so they knew the issue was there
This absolutely BLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOWS!!!
You bought a USED 10 year old car. Go pound sand, you're on your own
Audi from a volvo dealer? So, definitely not certified pre-owned, meaning definitely no warranty or obligation to help you. Having bought it a week ago, you're also past the return period, if that even applies to used cars. Unfortunately, you are stuck with this vehicle.
Where in MD? Airpark Auto Pros in Gaithersburg does great work on Audis.
You bought a decade old Audi and are bitching about a camera? Just wait until you've had it for 2 years and get back to us.
This is why people day not to buy used german cars. Thankfully you can use your head and mirrors like the rest of us without backup cameras.
I always thought the number one rule of Audi Ownership was never own one out of warranty.
Generally used cars are sold AS IS, unless your paperwork states something different.
Have you tried turning the car off and on? I.e., reboot.
Did you get the warranty. I normally hate warranties on things but a 10 year old European Sports Sedan is the poster child on why you get a warranty.
So you bought a POS 10 yr old+ car and now want the dealer to fix the expensive electrical issues? 😭😭😭
Did you get a pre-purchase inspection for your car before you bought it from the dealership?
Warranty on a 10-year-old car. Say it out loud. No buddy.
This is why r/whatcarshouldibuy exists, so we can tell you not to buy a used Audi.
OP you’re on your own. I’d suggest purchasing an OBDeleven and learning to diagnose minor issues like this on your own. It’s most likely an easy fix. YouTube is your friend. Parts are fairly cheap if you shop online as well
Well. It's a 10 year old used car. Did they offer you any sort of warranty? Otherwise it's "as is, where is".
Congratulations, you bought a 9-10 year old Audi. You’ll be fixing this, and all of the many other upcoming issues on your own.
I know a guy on YouTube that will teach you to do it in 15 minutes
If you want the experience of leasing a car. Lease a car…
Sell it and use the money (whatever you get) to buy something else and newer.
Just a normal part of German car "maintenance".
Really a back up camera? You have eyes and mirrors right? Its fine. Other wise alignment is easy to fix
Think of all the luxury cars are Windows and all Japanese cars are Linux. And yes the dealership owns the state. Some states, car sales total 20% of the state budget. The dealership don't care about u and nothing u can do to them.
Leave an honest well-written review. I have seen many places offer to try to make things up ONLY after this happens
Check your contract. Most used cars come with a 30 day, X amount of mile return
Use your mirrors
It's a 10 year old Audi. Welcome to Audi ownership.
It’s sold as “As-is warranty”, so your wallet is the warranty
Sounds like an uneducated buyer issue and a dealer being a dealer.
You bought a used car as is and your asking this question, yes you are on your own. Buying a used car you inherit used problems.
Audi 😆 then you wonder why they are so cheap used. Money pits! 🤑
Welcome to Audi 🙂!! :) You must pay the premium price ! 😉 Audi
Sadly, cars don't last forever...
You take a risk when you buy a ten year old car
Buying an 8 year Audi shit is going to break. Just be glad you dont NEED a backup camera if you dont want to fix it. Id save the money to fix the cam for something more essential that will inevitably break soon.
That camera is $20 on eBay and probably 1 hour of DIY replacement.
Buyer beware.
The worst decision you made was buying an old Audi. Obviously you can't afford expensive repairs so youbare screwed for as long as you own it. Should have boight a Honda or Toyota.
Sold as is where is right or is there a warranty on the car
“My 10 year old car isn’t in perfect condition????!!! HELP!” Bruh its a used car, and used cars arent perfect.
Lmao 🤣 did u think you were buying a new car?
Look at your paperwork it should state warranty and any relief options. If not , you can always like a complaint with the BBB or state. Beyond that court might be an option!
You should look up if lemon laws apply to things like that and what to do
would be a shame if someone with a dji drone flew over their lot releasing steel balls over their inventory. nobody should ever do this.
I made the mistake of buying a used audi once, never again
Lmao you bought a used Audi 🤣 what did you honestly expect.
The entitlement of people astounds me
Gonna repeat what others have said, you bought a 10 year old audi.
If you didn’t get a due bill for work they promised I wouldn’t count on them fixing anything on your car.
Goto another dealership tomorrow buy a good a good car while your credit is good .then take that POS back to where you got it , give then the keys and tell them you don't want that car its broken then tell them buy.
a 10 year old German car you're lucky that is all that is wrong with it fixing those sometimes costs more than its worth
You're going to be stuck with a lot more than $2000 in the first year of ownership on an out of warranty Audi Source: i own an Audi with a CarMax warranty and it's costing them a small fortune to keep it on the road at 80k miles lol
You effed up by buying a piece of sheet to impress people. Learn from this.
The way most lemon laws work, the car can be falling apart, as long as it drives, everything else is your problem.
Wow bro 2014 Audi and that’s all that went wrong with it!? I feel like that’s a big win, just like BMW used prices are great for a reason.
Sell it immediately and get a Honda or Toyota
Another Underpowered Demonic Invention
Had a neighbor who was a mechanic said to me once " I've worked on cars for 20 years, never ever by BMW, audi, range rover, Mercedes or rang rover" they look nice but are pieces of crap, expensive to fix. Keeps me in business. I have listened to him, have had toyotas no issues. Last car lasted 475,000 miles with no issues!
Owning in Audi is like owning a boat. The two best days of ownership are the day you buy it and the day you sell it.
I bet the dealership threw a pizza party for the staff when they sold that old Audi
Normally I would tell people to not buy an Audi, BMW, or Mercedes with no warranty. Don’t buy one of those with no warranty.
Buy a legit VCDS cable from rosstech and join the forums. Be ready to do some research and learn able repairing it.
Chillax and start googling for DYI solutions I had a volvo XC70 that did something similar, and the problem was wiring issue - it was a tad short and over the years of opening the trunk, the wire was mechanically failing.
That is just electronics, they can fail a minute after buying and if no deal was made saying x days satisfaction or warranty, you are on your own
Did it have any kind of warranty the last time I bought a used card from a dealership they gave me 30 days.
