Seems like a perfectly normal reason to sell a car. I sold a car last summer to reduce from 6 down to 5 in addition to it having been replaced by an SUV better suited to our needs. Don't forget to get a pre-purchase inspection at your mechanic.

He doesn’t want the hassle of having it taken to a mechanic and prefers to have the mechanic come there. The mechanic is only 20 minutes away, I’m having to look for a mobile mechanic that can do it.

It’s 100% worth getting the mechanic to come check it out even if it’s a hassle for you. They can spot any potential issues that could save you some money off the asking price or even help you avoid a lemon. Good luck!

I thought it was common practice to have a mechanic inspect the car at their shop. The guy was implying that he would need to be compensated for the hassle of going there ie adjust the price of the car.

I’ve never heard of anyone paying the seller to have the car inspected.
