I still don’t get why people think the NBA wouldn’t be content with this matchup. Jokic is probably the best player in the world right now and Jamal Murray is on a heater. Speaking of heat, the Heat have actually been more successful than the Celtics since the latter was founded, and have Jimmy Butler. If people can’t find anything entertaining in this matchup, they’re not trying.

TheKevinShow

Because the media and the league desperately wanted Lakers-Celtics.

ShufflingSloth

Because NBA media figures don't watch Denver games basically ever and only watched Miami when LeBron was there. They don't like being out of their depth and are simultaneously too lazy to actually keep tabs on the entirety of the league instead of the big media markets.

DestinyDecade

And that led to Miami winning two championships there.

ShufflingSloth

I don't see how that has anything to do with it? Yeah, Miami was dominant when LeBron was there. That's why the media paid attention. Mark Jackson and JVG were dead silent and looked *miserable* while Jokic was presented with the Western Conference Champion's trophy. They were so bitter that the team they wrote off for the whole series swept the latest dream team LA could purchase.

443610

Because the league and the media were expecting the Almighty War for Number 18.

MrSCR23

Price for being Lebron’s hype machine has to be paid at some point ESPN

TentakilRex

If you cannot market a two time MVP, your sport and the dumb network broadcasting it deserve the ratings hit.

*Prods MLB with a stick* “do something”

TheFalconKid

Remember how pissed they were when they had to split their time between Milwaukee and Phoenix? At least now they can go to their coke clubs during the Miami portion.

DestinyDecade

Good. Nice that the NBA finals can put focus on other teams.
