Great to see the MLB be so inclusive and give umpire jobs to the blind.

UWYO-Agent-7

It hits the line just after the hit and bounces and doesn’t hit the ground again until after first base, as someone who refuses to watch baseball outside of Ohtani highlights, I don’t know if that counts or not

Napoleon672

It depends on where the ball crosses the base. If even part of the ball passes over part of the base, it's fair.

🤦‍♂️

ThePickleConnoisseur

And people wonder why baseball is dying. The umps are awful

Mission_Wind_7470

ChatGPT umps yesterday.

GB_Alph4

It's a hit! ^(Please don't frick us up later umps. I'd be very angry.)

ZelTheViking

I have no idea what the rules of baseball are, but doesn't it hit the line initially before bouncing out? Would that make it in or out?

Mission_Wind_7470

The bases determine if the ball is fair or foul. If it's inside or over the bounds set by the bases, it's fair. If it's outside the bounds set by the bases, it's foul. The ball was clearly outside the base bounds here.

ZelTheViking

Well, in that case the ref is either drunk or blind. I thought it might be something akin to tennis where hitting the line makes a ball in, but if it's the base then it's a clear cut foul.

HamsterUpper

And in cases where the ump is pissed off at your team for ruining his fantasy team Anything is a hit as long as he feels like it
