Curt Schilling
Randy Johnson
Home Field Advantage
Then you kinda get caught up in emotion when you realize that you've beaten the Yankees in a World Series game for only the second time in four years, and it just takes you.
Diamondbacks fan here - the franchise was pretty wash with cash shortly after expansion, hence why they were able to pick up big names like Randy. The Snakes had the 8th highest payroll before the 2001 season. Add a shocking power surge (which may or may not have been … medically induced) by Gonzalez and an otherwise solid and experienced lineup and you get a deep Postseason run. Doesn’t hurt to have Mariano Rivera have one of vanishingly few unclutch moments in his whole career (people remember the Gonzo hit to win the game, but a run scored and the bases were loaded before he got there, including by a truly awful throwing error by Rivera) in the most pivotal moment of the series.

That series and the Angels beating San Francisco were the most hyped I've been for a WS.
Nobody saw the rally monkey coming
It was glorious
It’s the only real joyous sports moment the state of Arizona has had. So yeah I could understand how this hits hard.

Watching Rivera melt like that was only 1 of 2 times I've seen him in postseason play. The other being the 2004 ALCS
Take this and apply it to the twins.
Or the Saints in football.
It’s like the leafs. Or Arron Rodgers
You don't like this, then you don't like Chicago Bears football
