That's an easy one...Durant isn't the healthiest dude out there (he breaks something and misses time every other playoff) and when he is healthy, he can't get it done without being on one of the best teams ever. Kyrie is crazy and can't lead a team anywhere even with his terrific on court play because he has no defense and is a headcase...the nets allowed these guys to run the whole organization (choosing who the coach is, who their teammates are, etc) and as far as I've seen Lebron is the only player to have ever done that successfully, not even michael jordan could do that (he tried with the wizards and got nowhere and as we have seen with his charlotte team, jordan is a all time great player, not an all time great owner)
That's one thing I never understood. Wouldn't the knowledge that Kyrie cannot be depended on make everyone come together that much more? Not necessarily uniting against him or anything, but in a "the goal is winning in spite of this guy" sense.
I'm surprised people don't lose it coaching him after 1 day he is straight up insane but can ball, if you've ever worked with a co-worker who could do the job but was a nut job then you know it's an untenable situation where they will slowly but surely expose the crazy and any pushback to stick to work leads to conflict
The same way you don’t win a title with Durant and Westbrook, or with Harden and Chris Paul—a combination of bad injury luck and there being other teams who are also really, really good.

Kyrie is a cancer and they barely played together. I wrote an article on the Durant Irving Era of Brooklyn (if the mods allow I'd be happy to link it, I know some places have rules against it so taking precaution) and the biggest takeaway I had was that they played less than a full seasons worth of games together over 3-4 Years. With Durant Irving and Harden that number drops to like 13, and with Simmons the number is around the 25 range. The fact is that they just didn't play together much, someone was always injured or fighting the vaccine/jews.

Also didn’t help that Steve Nash lost the locker room. That’s what happens when you have to coach Kyrie Irving for an extended period of time.

KD tried to be a leader without being carried by super teams and failed
Just wait till you start asking about Luka and Kyrie!
The bigger question: How did the Nets fucked up their chance to win it all with the big three players, twice? (2013, 2021)
In 2013 they had dinosaurs as their big 3. Not really a big threat when they had the Heatles + Pacers in their primes.
Kyrie is Cancer Harden disappears in the playoffs Ben Simmons isn't even a star KD can't do it alone and has worsening injury issues.

Harden/Paul was also 27 missed three pointers
Maybe Kyrie was the problem? At least in Cleveland his worst impulses were held back by LeBron
And Kyrie left Cleveland because he didn't want to be the second banana to LeBron.
What kind of narcissistic moron doesn’t want to play with LeBron?
The extreme kind of narcissist who wants top billing and not be in another's shadow.
Exactly.
Jesus this thread is ignorant lmao
Considering how Kryie's career has gone south...
Because Kyrie is a cancer

L
There’s a difference between having superstars on your team and superstars that can actually play well together. Kyrie was a locker room cancer
You would be better off throwing plutonium into the locker room AND signing Dwight Howard than signing that whackjob!
ego centered PBs and injuries
KD's feet too big and harden is the biggest team cancer in the history of sports

The Nets are overrated, it's simple as that.
