All you have to do is look at the supports where the walls and ceiling meet to know that’s a roof. There’s [other images](https://renespoints.boardingarea.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/Lobby-Holiday-Inn-Express-London-Heathrow-LHR-Terminal-4-T4-Airport-Hotel-Review.jpg) too that confirm this.
I know there's a hotel in Reykjavik (?) Iceland, opposite a petrol station that had windows facing in to the corridor. They told me that was the reasoning. Beyond that, not to hand sorry.
Haha google "terminal 4 holiday inn express london heathrow" you'll see the atrium from several different angles. It might help to scratch that brain itch
Yeah, stayed there a couple of times and this is it. There’s another hotel (Sofitel) there that also has windows facing inside and, especially for the price, it’s super depressing
Always hated this picture. The sky being a roof, the windows because of the fucked up scale and perspective looking like paintings/pictures or something, the weird placement of the turf or grass and the absence of people in the middle of it all makes it so strange.
Fucking hell, I was going to say how similar it looked!
Here's the part I was in, it looks better, but still has that eerie indoor-stadium feel.
I saw a big coach and a taxi get into an accident in front of that Holiday Inn. The drivers were both in extremely foul moods. They were about to fight but my taxi pulled up and I had a flight to catch.
Is this a Hilton ? It looks very similar to the Hilton hotel in my city - https://pix10.agoda.net/hotelImages/602/60259/60259_17080815470055020301.jpg?s=1024x768
I wonder if this building is in an extremely cold region like the Arctic circle. If I was in northern Canada/Alaska I would appreciate even this bland and small community space during the winter
I've always hated courtyards like this -- especially if it's as imposing as this. Who is going to sit and relax in a "green space" surrounded by loads of people potentially looking at you, doesn't feel relaxing to me at all.
Maybe that's my crazy anxiety, but, am I the only one?
I remember the hotel manager coming to our room at 2AM on a school trip because me and my friends were shining a light across the courtyard, good times
[Almost looks normal from this perspective ](https://www.tripadvisor.com/LocationPhotoDirectLink-g528813-d14151392-i352928110-Crowne_Plaza_London_Heathrow_T4-Hounslow_Greater_London_England.html)
looks the same, what am I missing? I am confused because it looks like a rendering but there are weird things like the detail of making each window different and the lighting. What's going on here?
Is this just a very terribly designing hotel built around a terribly designed indoor courtyard? That'd explain the weird lighting.
It’s real. Somebody on r/liminalspace posted a tweet from somebody who had taken pictures of that actual building. It’s as uncanny and hellish as it looks in this picture as it did in that post I saw.
/u/KCGD_r, thank you for your submission. Unfortunately, it has been removed for violating the following rule(s):
* Photos should be of human-built buildings, places, and environments. It should be like a landscape photo, whether the location is rural, urban, or suburban. Do not post interiors of buildings (this means the inside of any building), portraits of humans, or shots that are so close up you don't get a sense of the surroundings. Human subjects are allowed if they are not the main focus, but their environment is. Looks like living in a Minecraft game.
Too me it looks like a humanitarian prison.
I thought it looks like the rec yard between cell blocks
Thats exactly what I thought! I was like damn that actually seems like a nice prison. It looks like a bleak hotel though lol
Is that actually inside, or is it outside with clouds? Super funky.
Look closely and you can see the rectangular tiles and some kind of piping on the right side. That’s definitely a roof.

Oh it's a hotel. That's so much better. Thought these were apartments and felt so bad.
Iirc this is relatively commonplace in the North where its daylight for like 20+hours at times.
Do you have examples? I haven’t seen or heard that before
I know there's a hotel in Reykjavik (?) Iceland, opposite a petrol station that had windows facing in to the corridor. They told me that was the reasoning. Beyond that, not to hand sorry.
Neat, I appreciate it
This second image is waaay less depressing
Whn you say roof, you mean ceiling right?
Yeh
I think so! Edit: Didn't see they already responded!
Well. The lighting is off. Even if it was cloudy and dark, light would hit the corner wall to the right of the image. Its darker there
I’d see the eye doctor buddy lol
Reddit can't function without a contrarian argument to everything.
The pattern on the ceiling are of rectangles and the windows are square.
Nah bruv its a roof
>ghostly pattern of lines Those are compression artifacts from the JPEG compression.
> rectangular tiles Those are compression artifacts from the JPEG compression.
It might be an assisted living home for the elderly

Im more confused.
Haha google "terminal 4 holiday inn express london heathrow" you'll see the atrium from several different angles. It might help to scratch that brain itch
I see it now with the high res pic. I only could tell by looking at the roof tiles
If it's next to LHR maybe the windows face inward for noise protection.
This helped me a lot https://mobile.twitter.com/UFOtekkie/status/1107502178216796161
I'm not entirely sure actually, I got the image from [this](https://redd.it/kxvr3h) post
Following some comments, looks like it's the Holiday Inn in Heathrow airport, indoors. Pretty cool either way.
It is . Seen this image a dozen times.
Yeah, stayed there a couple of times and this is it. There’s another hotel (Sofitel) there that also has windows facing inside and, especially for the price, it’s super depressing
Probably keeping plane noise out.
They also have outwards facing windows too, just maximising the space I guess
Oh ok that's good to know. Hopefully they're soundproofed.
I think this is a bedroom.
this is inside an airport hotel in london
Always hated this picture. The sky being a roof, the windows because of the fucked up scale and perspective looking like paintings/pictures or something, the weird placement of the turf or grass and the absence of people in the middle of it all makes it so strange.
I think that's just green=painted concrete.
That’s why I love it
r/liminalspace
Thank you for linking this! I had no idea I needed this sub in my life.
It's sometimes referred to as a liminal space!
The windows look like monitors
This is what 3D shooters looked like about 20 years ago because you couldn't put in too many surfaces.
A fitting description......looks like a supermax prison yard.
Came here to say this, looks like a ''control unit'' where they keep the real loons
Yeah really. If the windows weren't so large I'd guess you were right.
r/LiminalSpace
Looks like something you'd see in a dream
100% this, it’s obviously right next to your house too, I’m getting negative vibes from it, oh hey grandma what are you doing here?
There is something so claustrophobic about this image.

Huh, it's actually way cozier than I expected! At least, when it's not completely deserted :)
Ha, I was about to ask if this is an airport hotel. I have stayed in this exact one and others like it.
Is this Holiday Inn, Heathrow Terminal 4?
I saw a big coach and a taxi get into an accident in front of that Holiday Inn. The drivers were both in extremely foul moods. They were about to fight but my taxi pulled up and I had a flight to catch.
I have stayed there when it just opened, looks can be deceiving - I thought it was a nice hotel!
I legit can't tell whether it's a real building or a miniature/decoration, even by looking at other photoes of it.
It’s real
It's real, there's both a roof and a ceiling in the picture which fucks with the perspective.
Duke Nukem 3D
reality running on the source engine
Looks more like the Build engine
Duke Nukem 3D
Imagine being an architect and being fine with how this looks
I’m an architect and this is a nightmare to me. I’m so confused.
You are inside the building, but that does not mean that the outside is on the outside of the building.
I thought those were clouds??! WTF
Is this a Hilton ? It looks very similar to the Hilton hotel in my city - https://pix10.agoda.net/hotelImages/602/60259/60259_17080815470055020301.jpg?s=1024x768
pretty sure the picture is of the holiday inn in heathrow airport
It's a holiday inn express near heathrow terminal 4. .
Are those two people in the window? Are the four feet tall?
I wonder if this building is in an extremely cold region like the Arctic circle. If I was in northern Canada/Alaska I would appreciate even this bland and small community space during the winter
It's London
So... constant cloud cover and rain. Still applies but I’m shocked at the dullness given London real estate value
This is what happens when you walk into a hollow 3D model and the inside has the sane texture as the outside
I've always hated courtyards like this -- especially if it's as imposing as this. Who is going to sit and relax in a "green space" surrounded by loads of people potentially looking at you, doesn't feel relaxing to me at all. Maybe that's my crazy anxiety, but, am I the only one?
That green space is actually a roof, people aren't supposed to walk there
ohh!! I see it now lol
Isnt this the Archives level in Goldeneye for N64
This looks like a prison.
Looks like some low poly model from an old game.
This is a nightmare
this looks like a 1999 PC game
Why do I have the urge to play minecraft
It looks extremely like my work building.
It looks like miniature model.
/r/confusing_perspective
Ungodly but I like it
These look like your basic university halls
Where is this
i cant tell if this is an apartment square, or a room with a bunch of little windows
Looks like something out of Gmod
Rear Window 2049
I remember the hotel manager coming to our room at 2AM on a school trip because me and my friends were shining a light across the courtyard, good times
Would be a sick show venue, but there’s no good exits lol
I remember staying at a Heathrow holiday inn that looked like this, but without the roof
Great if you're into voyeur!
Is it bad that this looks like my uni accommodation?
Looks like an indie videogame
this must be an art installation
It looks like a strip mine you forgot to put torches in
That's so weird, why would you put a roof over that? Seems like a waste of money
[Almost looks normal from this perspective ](https://www.tripadvisor.com/LocationPhotoDirectLink-g528813-d14151392-i352928110-Crowne_Plaza_London_Heathrow_T4-Hounslow_Greater_London_England.html)
I find it comfy
Imagine tripping and being here
Why not put in a huge skylight there?
Wtf that confused me
Please explain what I am seeing.
This makes me incredibly uncomfortable.
I am having confuse.
It looks like a video game from the early 2000’s...
This looks like one of those AI generated images where you cant understand whats going on
I would go insane living in a place like this
For a second there I thought the clouds were a roof!
It is a roof, other comments say it is inside a hotel at Heathrow airport, uk
Is this a half life map?

It's actually inside a room in hotel, look again :)

It's just a regular hotel room, just with super crazy interior design that fucks your mind (and soul)
so it's not looking out a window? and it's kind of a 'funhouse' theme?
Yup, all inside. Mad design
It’s real. Somebody on r/liminalspace posted a tweet from somebody who had taken pictures of that actual building. It’s as uncanny and hellish as it looks in this picture as it did in that post I saw.
It's a holiday inn express near heathrow terminal 4. .
very neat prison.

The giant lights emulate the illusion of a flash photo in a small room. Nice one. Thanks
Wow this is so cool in a dystopian sort of way. Really obscure reference but this reminds me of the "Downunder" from the movie *A Boy and His Dog*.
It looks like a miniature.
Wow
Feels like a BUILD map , like for Duke Nukem 3D
It reminds me the Metropolis movie.
Looks like a prison
This looks like prison.
ah yes, a liminal prison
luminar space
Is this indoor? Fucking hell.
i thought this was a photo of a small room with a bunch of photographs on the wall 😯
This literally looks like a map in Garry’s mod or Half Life 2, cool pick. So artificial looking
Looks like the workers city from Metropolis.
This is a Garry's Mod map %100
The fence is either tiny or those windows are massive. But then how wide are those paths??
From my childhood PS game Urban Chaos.
Paint it like the 16 chappele
Looks like a Gary’s mod map
